£10 for one person's food for an entire month? 31 days? Healthy and nutritionally complete?

I find this really hard to believe I'm afraid, can you post more details because if its true then your secret will really help a lot of people on here!

    That's £0.33 a day around $0.26

for ideas google eat for £1 a day.

Why can't some people just accept that SW works ? Just like any diet works if you follow it, even "mindful eating" SW is just mindful eating in a different way. I follow SW, i don't eat Mullerlights, i drink water or green tea, i cook from scratch, the only can i ever open is full of baked beans or tomatoes. I think about every meal i cook, i think about what i'm buying when i shop, i make educated choices about things i know are my weakness, but i still have them occasionally. I don't deprive myself of any food group. People are allowed to control their weight in whatever way works best for them, knocking something because you disagree with it is just childish.

I take it you're referring to my posts.

I won't repeat what I have said many times, because it's obvious you're too blinkered to actually read or understand that it's not just my opinion. It's scientific fact.

Mindfulness is not about losing weight. Neither is intuitive eating, although I imagine there will be people who use these methods to assist weight loss.

OK, I'll phrase it differently in ways you may understand. SW (and dieting in general) DOES work long term. For between 5 and 20% of people who do it. Does that make you feel better?!!

And to back up what I was saying further...the uproar that was caused when they reclassified the 'sin/syn' value of the pasta things just goes to show how many people eat that sort of stuff. What's the betting the big SW machine will be launching their own brand of packet style pasta in the not too distant future.

That's because dieting is not a miracle cure. It's a not a case of follow a diet and all your problems with weight gain, accumulated over many years, are going to be resolved once and for all.

Dieting is one aspect of the whole concept of eating healthily. So yes, it works for the 5 to 20% who learn from the process and adapt what they've learned to their own lifestyle, rather than go on a diet and then forget about it all will lose the weight and keep it. The others regain it.

See my previous post. Dieters do not 'fail' at dieting, the diets fail them. And the research that shows diets don't work show that the reason they don't is more than 'willpower'.

You can research set point weight in relation to dieting which will explain better than me.

You REALLY think that between 80% and 95% of the people who don't have success are uneducated, have no willpower or are just plain greedy?

Absolutely. I’ve learned that three meals a day are too much for me. Eating by the clock rather than need led to a gain of two stone.

After 5-6 months of 5:2 I lost them, although my original target was 21lbs, I know maintain on 16:8. It’s a way of life and no problem. Three coffees in the morning, then lunch at 1. Dinner at 6.30 or so.

I can;t eat 3 meals a day and lose weight, my mum is exactly the same. For us to lose weight we have to eat considerably less. I'm trying 5:2 again as i've lost weight previously on it, intermittent fasting is the only thing that works for me.

You are at risk everyday e.g. car accident and dead (don't mean to be so blunt but it's true, enjoy life) - "stay at home dear, you have a family to think about".

What an absolutely ridiculous reply. This guy is clearly not enjoying life if his only pleasure is food. He needs help and encouragement to lose weight and be healthy. Gain some self esteem and THEN he can enjoy life.
  • Please research intermittent fasting. Particularly 16:8 method which I find is the most sustainable. I have a Facebook group called "Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle" if anyone wants to join and learn more about all things IF.

Give him higher portions of proteins( eggs, chicken, nuts, cottage cheese etc) reduce carbs and eat healthy fats. Have a treat everyday like 85% dark chocolate so you never feel deprived. Once a week have a takeaway meal to enjoy together. Encourage him to try the gym again but get him to be given a program to stick to. If you can afford it a few personal training sessions would really benefit him.
  • In this country:

    Junk/processed food = cheap
    Healthy food = expensive

Why aren't all these nutritionists and health advisors do something about that as well?

Nah that's just a fat persons excuse. Eggs are cheap. Frozen veg is cheap. Potatoes are dirt cheap. Porridge is very cheap. I could go on.....

People will think nothing of splashing out on takeaways all the time. Can get a weeks healthy shopping in Aldi for that.

Its the choices we make. People always have excuses for their actions. That is why they are in trouble in the first place. You have to have the mentality to want to look after your body.
