Well, if you think taxis are a rip off perhaps you should start taxi driving to earn some money? Try and find a firm who don't use too much technology mind.. What do you do for work? I don't know why you resent them earning a reasonable wage. Like part-time teaching they only get paid 'contact time' and as others have pointed out have rather significant overheads.
You have a choice, taxi firms have a choice. If you don't want to give them your number then don't, but you really should understand that getting your number is no more than an administrative tool to them. They don't bombard you with marketing as a result.0 -
Haha is that why then you are asked whether you want contact details shared with third parties an option cause if doesnt break data protection they could just give it to any company and you could ring u endlessly trying to sell you things.... so if a company your with give your number out and you were getting cold calls you would be happy then... i wouldnt they would have broken data protection if you did not give the right to do that.. :j0

Yes your right i dont want people i dont know ringing me.. obviously you dont mind but i do :rotfl:0

Ok.... yes they rip off when a bus may go the same way and considerably less... and before you say... no a bus doesnt go past where i live :beer:0

Well, you're obviously not in any employment that requires any degree of literacy or coherence, so perhaps taxi-driving would suit.
(Apologies to any real taxi drivers here..).0 -
So you are insinuating that companies are allowed to reveal customers mobile phone numbers then cause its not confidential information.. so u would hapy fir compsnies to give out ur mobile phone number then..0

Common sense ... obviously i ring companies that i am with because it it would be impossible ... no i dont give my number unnecessary0

Why are ypu trolling .. what makes u say that assumption0

Since nobody else has mentioned it yet -
Has anybody considered that a taxi company has a duty of care towards their drivers? If they get a call from somebody at the side of the road, calling from a withheld number, I'm not surprised that they don't want to send anybody.
Because if they did, the next call could be from the local hospital telling them that one of their drivers is intensive care, having been stabbed by a roadside robber. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
