Having the address is no guarantee the call is genuine. Hoaxers find it amusing to order taxis, pizzas etc to be sent to their victims.

Some of them even join forums to post inane questions ;)

In this case I'd suggest if the driver turns up and you aren't stood waiting, it's so they can ring you and let you know.
Which is so much nicer for the neighbours than the olden days when the driver pulled up outside, waited 7 seconds and then honked the horn. Repeat for 10 minutes until they give up or realise they are at the wrong address and have woken up totally the wrong people

The idea of "We'll text you the number of the car and the description" is a selling point from some of the bigger firms round my way and probably is important to some customers as a way of making sure that it really is your pre-booked cab and not a serial killer or an unlicensed and uninsured random.

I suppose the OP could keep trying all the local cab firms until they find one that doesn't ask for a number and then try and get a discount for being a repeat customer - that's what a real MoneySaver would do :money:
I need to think of something new here...

I would hate have a telephone conversation with the OP. It would consist of repeated calls, as more and more more irrelevant points pop into MWhite's brain. I would pull the cord from the wall.

Imagine such a conversation in the street, being called back time after time, after attempting to walk away, believing the conversation was over..... :(
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

How do you think the minicab drivers feel?

    Guys, stop feeding him.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.

For a £4 hire? :rotfl: Good luck with that (they'll need it).
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
