    Hello again.
    Another NSD.
    Another day checking in.
    Think I'm in a bit of a rut.:rotfl:
Food was from stores and leftovers from testerday.
Went though some crafty stuff. Some ready to upload on to ebay tomorrow, some recycled and some thrown out.Another 6 months and I might have sorted it all!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend,
    Ilovetea xx

  • Scrimps thanks for the info on how to dodge the cost of skimming a wall, this is one of the TBD jobs next year. Goodness knows whats hiding under the blown vinyl.

Not sure why but the quotes function didn't work but Rising damp does need a pro in. We've had several visits already, they've injected some walls but not the one witth rising damp as the non-existent membrane needs resolving. Sigh.

-Yesterday was my first NSD :j
Didn't have chance to check in this morning so wasn't aware of today's inspiration. Focus on loving and creating not gossip and hating I spent the day at a writing workshop and debunked a fair amount of goss-hate.
Love the Turtle Backstory too :T very in theme for my day.

Managed to stay within the budget I had planned for the day. £20, including the fee for the course and managed to stay a little social without breaking the bank at the bar. Unfortunately hubby is not on with the program yet and took the kids to Subway AND Starbucks. In fairness he did use a bogof voucher for Starbucks, but still!

    Things to be grateful for:
-Distant friends, those that you can pick up like you haven't been apart for 6 months.
-Early morning wake ups that allow me to see sunrises that set the clouds glowing and falcons chasing off crows.
-Tescos not having any Teen suitable clothes!:j (Eldest had a bday party invite - and last minute wardrobe dissatisfaction)
-Local outlet having a free treasure hunt to keep kids and hubby occupied while I was away.
    -This group.

    Hi everyone:)

So I failed miserably on the NSD but I did manage to only spend 1.95 and it went on a xmas gift so im ok with that. Leaves me at 9 and tomorrow being my only hope of 10 by week end.

Glad to be back home and unpacked from a weekend visiting my parents. House work is caught up with and ive done a budget to see me through the next few weeks. Ive also sat and looked through my coupons to see if there's anything worth having and made my list accordingly. Meal plan is on my list of jobs for tomorrow.

Too much birthday cake this weekend, but looking forward to hub getting back so I can go running.:j

Feel fairly on top of everything this weekend :money: jusy need to get back on the healthy eating

Hope you're all having a fabby weekend xx

Dancing Dragons for this month you could try writing down everything you spend, analyse it at the end and identify areas you can cut back eg convenience foods, impulse purchases.

DebtFreeDuo Martin has a demotivator which lets you work out how much habitual spends cost over a year.

For all those struggling with Stoptober, a blip is allowable but get back on course, don't give up.

Lauralozzle I was tempted (resisted) to go in Greggs and I already had a sandwich with me.

determined new ms even if the NSDs aren't saving you money, efficient shopping should save you time (and fuel). Plus you are focusing on what you need.

    Chasing Sunshine enjoy the party.

Another NSD so now at 8/15.
Dinner made from contents of the fridge.

Have started thinking about Christmas as we also have a number of close family birthdays either side and I use the offers that start to appear now to make my budget go further.
Have plenty of art & craft materials to keep everyone occupied with themed activities over the coming weeks as the nights draw in. Hoping to make a start over half term with some baking as well.

Any suggestions that work well for anyone?

Scrimps October was always my decorating month. When we hadn't much money I have gone round with a child's seaside bucket full of paste, pasting down torn bits of wallpaper and painting (everything white) by hte doors where there were grubby little fingermarks. We'll not talk about the 'Spiderman' incident when they rubbed jelly cubes between their hands and then tried to walk up the wall - the prints went nearly to the ceiling.

apple gingerbreadmen and reindeer - you are branching out. Excellent clutter clearing.

bizzie an NSD and extra income - win win.

laurenh1 no, buying on behalf of your brother doesn't spoil your NSD.

Dizzyblnd, ilovetea, apple and others, thank you for your kind words. I wasn't fishing for compliments. I took on running the thread ths month, knowing I was already run down. It makes me accountable and challenges me to set a good example.

Rising damp has been adequately covered by others, I think, including the fact that it doesn't exist. Best left to the experts (very physical and the chemicals can be nasty).

Toni'sfriend I think starting thinking about Christmas early is helpful in several ways. Firstly I don't go to the town centre on Saturdays or to the city in December, the crowds are just awful. You (mostly) avoid last minute panic. If you know what you want to buy, you can buy at a bargain price. When the boys were small mum would often help by buying 1/2 price lego sets I had spotted in the August sales and put them away for the boys. I used to start over-buying from October starting with toilet rolls (won't use more just because it's there) and cat food (they hadn't learned to use a can opener).

Fmess so glad you had a lovely day.

greent well done on your bargain purchases.

ilovetea well done on the crafty destash.

misstara free food, coffee, purchases and family time, what's not to love?

Stayed upstairs until 10pm, sewing but mostly sleeping (only just closed the laptop in time and twice it has turned itself off when the battery ran down). So sewing was going very well and now behind schedule so will leave you in a minute and press on (watching a good detective series to stave off boredom).

At 10pm DS2 called so asked him to walk down the stairs in front of me as I was starving (run out of peanuts and reached my daily banana limit) but too dizzy to feel safe on the stairs. Have been eating as I replied to your posts (sewing and eating don't mix well).

Beloved has been cooking - good. After visiting the doctor for tests last week and this DS3 has decided to give up takeaway meals. He likes vegetables, wholewheat pasta and lentils but Beloved doesn't. Maybe that accounts for the six dirty pans (little grumble here but not said anything to them). Cooking is good, giving up takeaways is good, be positive.

I need to do the sewing so am going to ignore the pans - the mess is too complicated, would get embroiled - until this is done (unless I need a short break to wake me up again).

So quite a lovely day but had hoped to be more productive like yesterday.

Today I am grateful for a visit from DS2 and for good decision making by DS3 and Beloved. Lovely sunshine (might have contributed to tiredness) and lovely sleep, a wonderful bath and enjoyable but unconventional diet.

    Hi all :j

NSD still 8/15 as spent today, will update when it's worked out

Organise: Decided to organise kitchen a little bit as no clear surfaces to be seen! Put jars into cardboard box & down into cellar, put all pans away, made some space but was soon filled after seeming like I was cooking all day...plus doing some washing etc.

Lunch: BLT from stores, DH bacon sandwiches DD not in till 7.30 am...3 hours late off night shift ..finally up by 3pm when had SW 'fry up'

Supper HM scotch eggs sweet potato wedges garlic herb dip

    Food budget: £191.96/250

Be kind: Made an effort but getting a bit snappy with so much to do, better than I was though

One more time: Stuck mainly to plan but fell off the wagon with mini stollen bites recommended on another thread,This is why it's not a good idea for me to pre-buy :rotfl:

Extra Income: More bids on my items, must make sure to pack them up before I go away on Monday..

Christmas: 2 packs of stollen bites bought, one already nearly gone

    Exercise: Not as such

    Heating: still off

Grateful for: Lie in again tomorrow,
mild day & no heating needed,
DD being enthused by her job despite it being so demanding & excessive hours

Repaid £500 on loan from business ...still a way to go before December though

Mothernerd Sounds like you are doing your own thing re the food & jobs to be done, so that's great right?
