Anyone have any tips on what to do about rising damp other than have a dehumidifier on all day every day?Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #820

Turtles Backstory There was a kingdom of tall towers where the financiers lived. They lured wild turtles with gifts of loans and magic cards, making pets of them. When the hard times came the financiers cast off their pets and the turtles fell into the sewers, awash on a tide of debt.
A wise and beautiful Kat rescued the turtles and taught them her ninja ways.Month by month, in a firm but kindly manner, she taught the turtles to exercise their bodies till they could negotiate the sewer, to use their will to resist the temptations of the kingdom, to plan and prepare, save their pennies and to give to those less fortunate.
One day the wise Kat gathered the turtles to tell them she must leave them. She was to go on a quest to the Eastern lands. She had saved all her money (and a little honey) and sought new adventures and learning (and perhaps an owl to be her future companion).
At first the turtles were afraid but wise and beautiful Kat reminded them of the lessons she had taught them (Always pay your debt first). They could now keep afloat on the sewer water and could help each other, and those who joined them along the way, to swim through to the tide of freedom and the beach of tranquility known as debt free day.
So the brave little turtles set out, swimming against the tide of consumerism and became the

I currently have this in my rented property, landlord just keeps sending out builders to look at it when it needs a specialist. I believe they have to drill holes in the wall to treat it, another thing to do is to take up flooring and line with membrane.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0 -

I looked at this as we have damp - but it's penetrating not rising - you do need a specialist it seems. But you can look to see if the ground outside has risen and is coming above the level of the membrane. If the house is older than 1870 it probably doesn't have a membrane and would need one retrospectively installed.
Most things I'll do myself but with this I would get several quotes from professionalsDF as at 30/12/16

Hi all,
I'm claiming a SFD today as I returned an item for £10.49 and then bought food shopping for £10.40 so I count that as I'm up by 9p :rotfl:
A nice day for a change. I've pottered, taken my time, got a few good things done around the house and washed loads of sheets as found some tiny black bugs in a sheet that I took off the bed last week and was worried they were fleas! Dogs and cat were treated a few weeks ago so it shouldn't be.
I've batch cooked meatballs in sauce for next week and today's lunch. Tonight I'll make SW sausage and chipsLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Day 14
Was a spend day. Brought the weekly food shop. Signature and notebook updated.
For Christmas I went to M&S and got 3 packets of their own bread sauce. Mum and I did discuss some of the food that we will need.
Whilst I was in there Mum phoned and requested a sandwich from there, so brought us both a sandwich. Counting it as a treat.
No exercising or reading my book today.
Used up 2 small bottles of red wine. Been in the cupboard for a while.
Grateful for:
Stress free morning doing shopping etc.
Getting 2018 diaries from a card shop that sells them at a very reasonable price. 99p for mine and 59p for Mum's(she likes the smaller dairy).
Having a chilled out afternoon and evening.
Achieving everything I needed to do today.

Today I am grateful for getting out for a morning run (albeit a short one), for getting the washing dried, for finding some bargains
in the ch shops for Cmas, for time out and about with dd, for dd enjoying dance, for still having raspberries to pick, for finding more photos of my niece as a littl'un that I can use for her 21st bday collage, for fresh bed linen, for dh taking 2 bagfuls to the ch shop and we have already filled 2 more.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
