Pretty new to this but was successful in claiming all my charges for my credit card over the last 6 years at the end of last year totalling £1,500.00 so looking in to getting my PPI back also! Allbeit a long winded journey...namely numerous letters to MBNA to get charges back, accepting their offer of £700ish but then going via the Ombusman for the rest and succeeding!
Anywho was looking to get on the PPI band wagon and any help would be gratefully appreciated. I dont have any paperwork for when I applied for the credit card but am almost 100% certain that it was done by completing one of the pre-ticked box forms (I took my CC out in 2005).
My total PPI payments, plus interest should total around £1,200.00. I wrote asking for T&C's but this does not really tell me what I applied for nor the PPI element. I then wrote back asking for a copy of the application twice - NO RESPONSE.
Has anyone ever actually got a copy of their application form back? If so please let me know! Am considering a letter explaining why I feel i've been mis-sold and asking for the amount back with a calculation to back up...any ideas?
Thanks for reading and any responses...0 -
I'm looking into claiming but stuff I've read talks about being misold the PPI but I can't remember how I ended up with it in the first place. I know that it's cost me a fortune and have now cancelled it but if I can't remember will I still have a valid claim?0

What is it you are actually trying to reclaim? If it's PPI payments, I suggest you try here

This thread is to discuss the contents of the MSE guide to reclaiming credit card (default) charges which is linked to in the OP"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

After making my point, strongly but firmly, they agreed to give her the £12 back.
A small victory for us all!
Well done! :j0 -

Hi,
New to this and probably being asked loads, I have an HSBC credit card which I have had for longer than I can remember so cant find the application form etc, and there was definitly no mention of the PPI being an option. Will the bank be able to give me copies of my statements, I have some statements going back a couple of years or so?
Sorry for the repeat question but based on the statements I have the PPI is £1200........so a definite exercise worth doing and I am going to make it my mission to get it all back!
Thanks0 -
You would probably be best sending them a Subject Access Request, this will require them to send you all information they hold on you so will include your statements and credit agreement/application form. You will need to enclose a £10 fee for this and they have 40 days to comply.0

Hi guys,
As anyone had any luck claiming back PPI from RBS. I have a credit card from them from 2006 which im paying PPI on and im thinking of putting a claim in for it. The problem is i cant remember discussing PPI with them when i took the card out. Should i still send the questionaire off to them and see what they say?
Also just looking back online over a loan i also had with RBS at the start of the of the loan theres a payment for over £1200 called an insurance payment. Sorry for being thick but is this what i can also attempt to claim back?
Any help appreciated, Cheers0 -
Hi all
I don't really want to plough through hundreds of pages of posts on this forum so, apologies if this is asked a lot...
Is there any point at all in trying to reclaim band/credit card charges that are older than 6 years old these days? Back in the earlier noughties, I hit a patch of really bad times and got hammered left, right and centre by bank charges by a few providers. In the end, I had to remortgage to get myself out of the situation. Obviously, all that was over 6 years ago now though so, would I have a case at all or would I just get laughed at?

Hi, I am hoping that I can reclaim on my charges and am grateful for all advice. Sorry for the very long description - I want to ensure I have detailed everything.
Last July I took out a 18 month 0% credit card - limit was £10400. I went on holiday in July with the card and due to conversion rates lost track of my limit. All statements are online. In mid August I checked my account online and it indicated that I still had about £50 left (after balance transfers etc.). So I spent another £42 and thought I will stop using it and begin paying it all off over the coming months.
Unfortunately, after that check the rest of the trip spend came in and I was over the limit by £54.48.
So I was charged the following: Overlimit sum=£12 AND interest charged for going over the limit (and late payment - as i was waiting for a statement through the post) £170.64.
Basically they took OFF my 0% deal on purchases and balance transfers. I got a call on 3rd Sept and paid in more than the minimum so cover any potential over limit amounts.
Because I paid in a lot more than the minimum, i spent another £10 on the card as based on my calculations (without taking into account the £170 interest that I was not aware of) i thoughtI have another £100 to spend on the card.
On 6th Sept was charged £12 again for going over the limit (As i was blissfully unaware of the £170 charge). I called the card company and they put the deal back on the card - so I have 18 months to pay back without having the interest applied - but that was it.
So my charges have been:
2 lots of £12
Then £170.64 interest because they took the deal off for that month
Please let me know if I can only reclaim £24 or if I can also apply to reclain for £170.64 too.
Thanks!0
