Capitol One, how are they at paying back charges.
I have had a card with them for 4-5 years now, some years no charges at all but there must be 3 years with charges (have read Martin's advice) regarding writing off to them, Can I claim or has anyone claimed back the £12 charge as i'm not sure whether I can or not , or if anyone has and it worked I will deffinitely try..
Also I will be writing off for all my years recorded with them must be 5 years at least. So I should be able to see if there is anything over £12.
i asked a similar question for another credit card give it a go you just need to follow the template letters

If that happens, does it mean they are entitled to immediate repayment of the amount I owe on the card. Is that what they do, or can you just keep paying off the card monthly when it has been closed? I also have an overdraft with a current account with halifax. Would they close that also, if I was applying for charges back on my credit card?
im sure someone will quickly come and correct me if im wrong it shouldnt affect your overdraft and current account but may and only may affect the card but you would have to just offer them a payment that you can afford but obviously this would have knock on credit rating effectsSave 12k in 2015 member 187. £62.50/60000 -
I wrote to RBS asking for my partners statements, the account has been closed for around 4 years and we no longer have statements or the card number, i provided the two addresses that we lived at when he had the card. RBS sent back a letter saying they could not help as they could only deal in numerals adn as we did not have these they could not help. What shall we do next

Hi all
A quick question, 1 of my credit cards has written offerering a ridiculously low amount which I am refusing. They offered the amount to be paid onto my account.
If they were to make a satisfactory offer, do I have to have it paid onto my account, or can I ask for a cheque instead?
I have been left in severe debt due to all the charges placed on various cards so I would need the money in my bank account in order to pay bills etc. Anyone know where I stand on this matter?
i wrote to argos with a similar request for repayment of charges to me rather than off my card point blank refusal but there is no harm in asking surelySave 12k in 2015 member 187. £62.50/60000 -
If alongside the request for detailing the bank charges you add an imromptu comment on how they're ripping off their customers and stuff is it gonna have any bearing on your claim?
Cause I just couldn't resist myself.0 -
Hello! This is my first post so I am sorry if someone has already asked this question. There is so much information on this site that my brain is hurting trying to take it all in.
My husband and I are in debt to the tune of £30,000, which is repaid at a rate negotiated by the CAB's Legal Help Franchise Unit in 2005. All charges and interest has been frozen on all debts. About £10,000 of this debt is attributed to 3 credit cards, and I shudder to think at how much of that is charges. Naturally it makes sense to try and reclaim some of that back - we won't see a penny, but that's not the point. The sooner we get that debt down, the sooner we can start living our lives again. Lives which have been put on hold for nearly 3 years now.
So, if my debts have been bought by other companies, do I have any form of redress? I know some of my debts are dealt with by companies owned by the company I owe money to (you know what I mean lol) but what if a completely external company has bought the debt, does that mean we can't claim anything back? I would really appreciate some help. Thanks in advance.0 -
Two threads you need to read, this one about claiming when an account is with a DCA
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=366364
and this one about claiming while in an IVA/DMP

You need to start your claim with the credit card company, no matter who may be holding the debt however the cc company will apply any monies reclaimed towards any debt held by them but this of course will lessen your overall debt considerably.0 -

Did you use the first template letter (SAR request) or just ask for the statements as they should be able to find your accounts with the information you have given them.0 -
Hi all, Can somebody please help me. In 2007 I was charged £12 for a late fee but got it reversed because it weren't late. I paid for it the day it was due.
However I have been hit £60 in over limit fees. I went over by a couple of pennies and then got stung £12. I got charged in Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec. £12 pound each. I didn't realised I had went over because I get my statements online and werent checking =/ becasue I was just paying the minimum and didn't realised I had gone over by a couple pence otherwise I would of paid the little bit extra.
I just want to know is it possable to claim this back?
I sent them out the 1st process letter on the 29 Jan and got a quick reply yesterday from MINT saying they believe there charges are fair and no refunds will be forthcoming. They also say I can refer my case to the Financial Ombudsman Service see enclosed leaflet... but there was no leaflet enclosed =/
Can somebody please advise what to do next?
Can you claim back £12 charges?
Shall I reply with the 2nd letter to reclaim CC Charges.
Thanks in advance
