Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

Hi,
Having just received details of all the late/overlimit fees A&L have applied to my credit card account since 2002, i have just put together a schedule of charges plus interest i wish to claim back from them. I've not been shy with it, i've asked for the full amount to be refunded - if you don't ask you dont get.
Now, this is where i'm starting to worry................i've not seen many success stories with regards to claim with A&L and most have ended up in court - which scares the life out of me. Can anyone tell me they have managed to get some cash out of A&L??
TOTAL CLAIM: £513.850 -
Thank you Edinburghlass - apologies for delay in thanking you, I am having problems with this forum, despite signing in it won't let me post, I had to go to my name in the member list to see my post and the replies that way
But thanks anyway0 -
When you log in you need to tick the box that says "remember me", if you don't tick this box it will automatically log you out after 10 minutes or so of inactivity and you won't realise so when you come to reply it tells you that you aren't logged in, its very infuriating0

Can you guide me to where I might find the correct wordng for the N1 claim form when claiming credit card charges? Is it the same wording as for bank charges? Also is the wording for the 'brief details' and 'particulars of the claim' the same?
ThanksJain00 -

I would like to try and reclaim some credit card charges.
However, I am currently on a repayment plan, with interest frozen, on my credit cards (owing to my getting into too much debt), and I was wondering if anyone knew whether I can still claim, even though presumably I am in breach of my original credit agreement with the card provider.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

<O:pHello
This is my first post, so please excuse me if this has been asked before (I have looked through the threads but can’t find anything…)<O:p
I had an amex blue card, and have had my statements back detailing my late payment fees. However I have also noticed on my statements that I had an over-limit fee of £25, then for the following few months I had a creditor insurance premium fee. Then a few months later a repayment protection plan fee popped up.<O:p</O:p
<O:p
I gather that I can claim £8 from each of the late payment fees, but can I claim anything on the over-limit fee (£25) or the creditor insurance premium? This was between £10 and £20 for 5 months.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
Also, can I claim back the repayment protection plan fees at all? I’ve got a bit confused with all of these! Has anyone else taken on Amex over fees?<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
Any advice would be welcome!!

Frankie_Bhoy wrote: »Hi all, Can somebody please help me. In 2007 I was charged £12 for a late fee but got it reversed because it weren't late. I paid for it the day it was due.
However I have been hit £60 in over limit fees. I went over by a couple of pennies and then got stung £12. I got charged in Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec. £12 pound each. I didn't realised I had went over because I get my statements online and werent checking =/ becasue I was just paying the minimum and didn't realised I had gone over by a couple pence otherwise I would of paid the little bit extra.
I just want to know is it possable to claim this back?
I sent them out the 1st process letter on the 29 Jan and got a quick reply yesterday from MINT saying they believe there charges are fair and no refunds will be forthcoming. They also say I can refer my case to the Financial Ombudsman Service see enclosed leaflet... but there was no leaflet enclosed =/
Can somebody please advise what to do next?
Can you claim back £12 charges?
Shall I reply with the 2nd letter to reclaim CC Charges.
Thanks in advance

I have managed to get the refund of the £12 charges back. I have requested proof that due to me being late with my payments or going over the allotted amount on my card cost them £12. I know this is not true and when i asked for the proof they could not send it to me.Barclaycard - £281.00 reclaimed :j
MNBA - £165.00 reclaimed :j
Studio Cards - £382.00 reclaimed :j0 -
I have been very successful in reclaiming late payment charges on credit cards which I no longer use, just paying off the balances, but, one thing I have noticed since successfully reclaiming - the monthly interest APR has rocketed. Whether this is retaliation for my success or because I no longer use the cards but just pay off the balance.
Anyone else noticed an increase in the interest rates ?0 -
Advice Wanted
Please can someone tell me where to send the first letter of complaint to someone in the credit card companies. I intend using the templates off this site, but am a bit unsure of where to send them to. I have incurred charges with the following cards  :-
Barclaycard
Capital One
MBNA
Mint
Halifax
Lloyds TSB
Tesco
Is it best to write the letter asking for a list of the statements or telephone them. Word of warning, I payed MBNA a day late in January and they have whacked my APR interest up from 20.90% to 34.90%, and when I complained they told me that I have made 16 late payments. Well that might rebound on them!
Thanks in anticipationThe road to bankruptcy is paved with short heads and necks.0
