With GE Money I got a £213 claim between 2 cards which I requested £700 on in total! That was without all the necessary statements for 6yrs as the couldn't supply them all. I accepted as part payments and went throught the Financial leasing assoc which you have to do before the FOS with storecards I believe. They offered a further £140 goodwill gesture yesterday which I've declined. I put a complaint into the FOS today so I'll keep you informed. The good thing with GE Money is that you can always get through to the complaints resolution team by telephone quickly when you need to.

Good luck - the FO told me they 'don't do storecards' and put me in touch with the FLA who were useless and didn't seem to know what they were doing. GE said 'no' FLA said 'ok then' and I'm back to square one - sent my letter to the courts today.
Total waste of 6 months.
  • Disappointed with FO aswell today as after 7 months waiting for them to 'hear back from' Capital One I got this email.

"If you make a new complaint to Capital One they are now looking at full refunds and therefore you should not need to use our services in the future."

So basically I need to start again!

Will be sending a cheque to my local court at end of month to start court proceedings - what a waste of time up until now.

    Dear Sir or Madam,
Re. Account number: [INSERT ACCOUNT NUMBER]
I am writing to request that you repay all the default charges that have been applied to my account. I do not believe these charges reflect the true cost to [INSERT NAME OF BANK].

The charges total £[INSERT TOTAL CHARGE]. I believe I have been unlawfully deprived of the money and therefore ask that you repay me the full amount. Please find a full schedule of the charges with this document. [INCLUDE A LIST OF CHARGES AND BE SURE TO KEEP A COPY FOR YOURSELF]

I look forward for a full response to this letter within 14 days.
    Yours faithfully,

    Dear Sir or Madam,
Re. Account number: [INSERT ACCOUNT NUMBER]
I refer to default charges applied to my account amounting to [INSERT TOTAL OF CHARGES], which I have requested you pay back.
    I wrote to you on
[INSERT DATE], making the original request for a payment in settlement of my claim. As I have not heard from you/not received a satisfactory response [DELETE AS APPROPRIATE], I am writing to inform you I intend to claim the full amount claimed together with interest up to the date of judgment and court fees in the proceedings through the county court.
This is based on the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations, as I believe these default charges are unfair and not proportionate to your costs, and therefore the court will rule in my favour.
I have attached a full schedule of the charges with this document.
[INCLUDE A LIST OF CHARGES AND BE SURE TO KEEP A COPY FOR YOURSELF]
I look forward to a full response to this letter within 14 days, otherwise I will commence court proceedings to reclaim my money.
    Yours faithfully,
