house elf - last year I signed up for 'Samaritans Purse Shoeboxes' and got a bit of a shock when I discovered that the 'suggested postage' was £5 per shoebox - I'd done 4, so £20 on top of the cost of filling the boxes . I fulfilled my promise to them, but won't be doing it again this year
. I'll be repeating the 'Whitechapel Shoeboxes' - I can deliver those personally using public transport for free - courtesy of my bus pass
:j!
My 5 blessings for yesterday -
1. Not having to go out at all - as it was 'bouncing down rain and thunder/lightning', this was INDEED a blessing!.
2. Visit from my mobile hairdresser - routine 'tidy up', so I no longer look like an Old English Sheepdog :j!
3. Knock on front door - downstairs neighbour who had taken a parcel in for me the previous day. A lovely sweater from catalogue - 'Raspberry Red' sweater that I'd ordered, reduced from £45 to £15 :T. Perfect for Christmas Day with my new skirt (also reduced in Spring Sale) which hasn't been worn yet!!!
4. Used up some ood Gluten Free Oatcakes with cheese for lunch and a cup-a-soup - very tasty .
5. During the afternoon all my TV channels went off (due to thunder/lightning/torrential rain) so decided to play a CD instead - chose this one :rotfl:.
6. Despite the bad weather, I decided to have an attempt at washing my fleece cape/wrap for the first time - used a large laundry bag for safety . Came out lovely and managed to dry it flat over the airer. Now hanging on a proper hanger, ready for use when needed :j.0 -

Ooh love Matt Haig, especially on Twitter. I've read 'how to stop time' - I think one way is to read that book, i couldn't put it down. 'one of' my current books on the go (i have three or four) is 'Reasons to stay alive'.5. Rebus: The Long Shadows at the REP with DH and DS2. (Nice that we can still persuade a teenager to come out with us). Excellent performance.
Now that's interesting, because I have been trying to find something for DD and i to do this evening. Out of many theatres in birmingham, Lichfield, nottingham and various cinemas there's nothing on except that, which did appeal to me, just not sure DD will go for it.
Oh dear, Mhags :rotfl::( nothing beats a good moan. If OH tries to 'snap me out of it' when i'm having one i tell him to leave me alone as I'm enjoying myself.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Got the work completed that i was planning and sent it off to supervisors for next week's meeting. Have a weekend of work, but this is all bonus now..
2. Hoovered - house is looking half decent again
3. walked to butchers to get the meat for dinner. nice walk and chat with butcher
4. Dinner was lamb done 'sous vide' in the slow cooker (my favourite way of doing it), with roasted veg and the last of the beans from the garden. Followed by rhubarb, apple and ginger crumble. Nom
5. OH's mate came for dinner and behaved himself - he can sometimes say inappropriate things.
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Vjsmum, the how to stop time book is the one, looking at me on the coffee table right now, it’s the one I picked up yesterday for 1.50, I’m thinking of going to the local book club in October and this is their book for next month, so I had an eye out for it. It’s a hardback version and looks fascinating. I’m looking forward to starting it, sounds like I may have to wait till morning if I won’t be able to put it down.
Skint: Hope you start to feel better soon, lots of bugs around just now.
1 A very lazy day in part to feeling a bit naff.
2 I popped out to Mr T, for a specific inkahol offer which will be FIL’s C word present but they didn’t have any. I left empty handed the offer is on until the end of the month.
3 Enjoying watching Harry Potter not one I’ve seen before.
4 Soggy washing hanging up inside.
5 We’ve eaten dreadfully the past few days, so I’ve just meal planned for tomorrow onwards.:o0 -

WeeMidgie and SkintYetAgain - you have both just motivated me into using up some Chicken Livers that have been 'lurking in the depths' of my chest freezer for a while :T.
I bought them with the idea of making some pate, but realised that they would make far too much as there's only me that eats pate.

1. A really good night's sleep again :j.
2. Two loads of laundry done in the morning.
3. Weather not 'brilliant', but no rain forecast until later in day, so managed to get laundry partially dried outdoors :T. Just beginning to rain as we brought it in around 5.00pm - forecast was bang on schedule! Put onto airer, rad racks and coat hangers to finish off

5. Set timers on TV for programmes I wanted to watch and then sat with feet in a bowl of lovely soapy water (total bliss!). Later gave them a good rub with a decent moisturiser - got them 'up' on the sofa and sat with bag of Jelly Belly jelly beans (courtesy of DGD from her trip to US) :j! Beggar the diet!
