Woops! seems like i'm a bit late for this but never mind
1 - Enjoying my cup of coffee as usual. ( i don't have a specific time my brewer is always brewing it for me lol)
2- Working on my blog three hours a day. I start in the evening around 6PM and work until around 9 or sometimes 10 if the work load is more
3- Afternoon i'm usually busy taking care of my toddlers
4- night time is a small show on the TV with a cup of coffee of course0 -
Well, this is a storm and a half! Water is swooshing in under the front door, running down the back of the inglenook in the living room and it sounds like someone is hosepiping the windows!
Pleasures for today (Thursday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens well and 4 eggs.
3) Scrambled eggs for breakfast.
4) Went into town to do financial dealings so bigger son can buy his new motorbike...
5) Did various bits once back home - washing, tidying etc. Phoned the same local company who replaced all my window frames to confirm ordering a new front door and frame - the frame that has rain water running underneath and across the living room floor as I type!
6) A tasty tea of spaghetti Bolognese.
7) Bigger son went to games night with my brother and brother in law.
8) Watched Grand Designs.
9) In bed but the storm too noisy to sleep so I will listen to the radio for a while.
ETA 10) Painted my bedroom ceiling so that is one step closer to painting the entire interior! Will do the walls tomorrow (as much as I can as it seems the paint is discontinued).0 -
Good morning , still dark here and sounds wet!
Thursday ...
Plasterer turned up at 7.40am. I was not dressed or showered and had to throw on day before clothes...just dropping my stuff, need to take van in for repair, back soon...that would be 90 minutes later soon...meanwhile I'm running round thinking I'd 10 minutes!
Bricklaying has started. Plastering has started ( that takes an age!) Roofing did not. Sigh!
Picked up flooring and plumbers kindly picked up rest. Shop wanted £100 for a delivery . No way.
Plumber called...are you in? Can we start on ensuite? Er, okay. It's stripped out, was in a bad way behind tiles, rotten, full of mould, yuk.
But if you're coming this way can you go to the flooring place. Yes,no problem. Thank you very much.
Finished my library book. Walked over to mobile library and it wasn't there. Grrr.
Popped in very briefly to say hello to someone I haven't seen since I got back.
Niecely people came. Nephew in law was frozen...we've obviously acclimatised to the lack of heat.
Fell asleep on sofa.0 -
Good Morning,
Speedy 5, as I have got to get ready for work.
1. Stayed home again yesterday, as still poorly. DH had a days leave to paint the front door. Weather too bad, so he decided to declutter the cellar. The pleasure was that I was here to be able to stop him throwing out all my useful stuff
2. DH has been to the tip and the charity shop.
3. DS2 has given in the last of his assignments which were outstanding from last year.
4. Trip to IKEA for tea. Did not have to cook, but even the walk around the shop to buy a picture frame was exhausting.Managed to avoid the rain storm while we were there Frith, but there were buckets everywhere, catching the leaks from the roof:
5. Watched an episode of Vera when we got home, but will have to watch the end again, as both me and DH fell asleep. Poor old dears :rotfl:
Let's see what the day brings.....I will be on a naughty list for being off sick
Have a lovely day0 -
Thursday pleasures,
Food shopping which isn’t really a pleasure apart from the quiet emporium , no rtc bargains but some stock shop two 4 one deals, winter prepping.
Orange roses in DM’s tree of life vase.
Changed hearth decoration and door wreath for equinox celebrations.
The yard horses enjoying some of our windfalls.
Snorkers with root veg bake.
Watched and enjoyed Press, gets better every episode.0 -
Ooh, Press, forgot i was watching that - I shall do some catching up over the weekend.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. being inside when outside was horrid. Such rain!!
2. finished my draft chapters and sent to supervisors so get a bit of respite on that part until Tuesday (plenty left to prepare for my up and coming deadline however)
3. goats cheese and rocket omelette for lunch - nom
4. DD and I went to a vegan 'pop up' restaurant. delicious food and good company
5. Yoga - lots of upper body work (am a bit achey today) but chuffed at the face of the teacher when I was the only one able to sit in full lotus and raise myself up on my hands and kind of 'swing' for a good few seconds :rotfl: (there's lots of things i can't do, like touch my toes, but i seem to have really good hip flexors..)
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1. Sparky came over yesterday and finished some bits. Fixed the bathroom light (no more baths by candlelight and brushing teeth in pitch black), installed the Yale alarm I've had sitting in my house for over a year, removed the ugly Sky dish from the side of our house and finished putting up the dining room lighting. Excuse the horrid photo! Decorator is booked in to paint the panelling and fireplace surround white, and the walls grey. Can't wait!
2. Fireplace fitter also dropped by yesterday, am excited about having a Victorian cast iron fireplace reinstated to the bedroom. Am in contact with the hearth people about a black and white quarry hearth. All coming together.
3. Food! Worked from home yesterday and had veggie chilli in the slow cooker ready for everyone to get home. Enjoyed some today. Yummo.
4. French class started again last night - was fab! Just five of us this year as our teacher has left the adult learning service and we followed her. She only has capacity for 5 students at a time so has split us by level. Miss the other ones but we are all a little more experienced so conversation flows much easier. It was soooo much fun. And the topic was cycling along the Loire, which was something we did on our hols this year, and something we'd like to do again. I picked up a few ideas for our travels.
5. Got home and hubby had arrived from his weekly hotel stay. We snuggled in bed and started a new Netflix mystery series in French (for me to practise!) set in Belgium.0 -
V At mill on a Friday! Inn the packed lunch box today we have egg custard tart mixed with leek and bacon! Two mini rolls today as well as it is Friday!
4 That means POETS Day again, but I need to make up the money from last holiday so I am sweating it in the boiler room! More steam!
3 Just read about more emulsions available in the shops. Just remember that BoP uses proper butter, emulsions are for the walls of your home, not your arteries! That is proper foods etc for you. Now it seems that the greenofascist almond substitute is not so green! It is full of emulsions! Bad for you!
2 Night is games night and we can even have live Scrabble for you. Remember that BoPsie is only one win away from the chance of two on the bounce!
Having one today. It appears we has a mole in the yard at the mill.
That is it for this weak at the mill!0 -
 Good Morning everybody. Really enjoying about other people's blessings/pleasures - it's so good to hear so much positivity and it DOES rub off on me too
!
Here's my 5 for yesterday:
1. Spending time with DGS1 again, but had some 'other stuff' that desperately needed attending to first. Luckily DD's lovely neighbour was able to be my 'stand-in' :j.
2. Quick visit to gp's surgery to collect 'blood form' and monthly prescription. Have Annual Review on Monday, so bloods were needed in advance!
3. Back on bus to Hospital. Arrived early for Physio session, so went to Blood Clinic - my number was called BEFORE I even sat down, so got sorted immediately :T.
4. STILL too early for physio, so went for a Costa :coffee: - FREE ONE using up some points, so tasted much nicer than usual!
5. Good Physio Session - have finally realised how far I've actually improved in the past few weeks :j. This was my last one, so I'm now being referred for 'Activity for Life' at a local Leisure Centre Gym :T.
6. DGS1 met me in the entrance to the Hospital and we went upstairs to the Top Floor Cafeteria for lunch. He was definitely impressed with the views of the surrounding area (5th floor). He's getting much better at using public transport and going into 'slightly unfamiliar' places on his own. By the time we got back to DD's house, we were soaked to the skin but he went and got a free-standing radiator for me to warm-up AND he put the kettle on without being asked. I'm LOVING this 'considerate' side of him that's beginning to emerge :A.
7. Arrived back home after YET ANOTHER drenching and just changed straight into nightie/dressing gown to settle down for the evening with a cup-a-soup and salad - what bliss!
8. Looking forward to watching Vera - and did EXACTLY the same as house-elf .............. 'came to' as the credits rolled.
lol at your comment on your DS, VJ's mum - we're getting this with DGD1, who's also at Uni now. She thinks DD should keep food in 'just in case' she decides to pay an impromptu visit back home - can't keep anything 'just in case' in DD's house .................... not with DGS1 and DGD2 around :rotfl:! Even my own DS1 & 2 (aged 45 and 39) arrive in my home and go straight to the fridge and biscuit tins on a 'food hunt' - they're quite disgruntled when they realise that all biscuits are now 'gluten-free', following my 'very-late-in-life' Coeliac diagnosis:rotfl:

What ho midears! Not blown off my hill but definitely wrapped in a fleece & planning on waterproof before venturing out.
OS Pleasures recently
Bagged one steam engine and a traditional waterwheel at work! I love these heritage open weekends!
Went for the last blackberries in the garden & to by shame found several fruit canes that had grown up and leafy but not fruited. Felt hugely unworthy of all their efforts as I pruned them but cleared more light for next year I hope. I need to figure working with the growth (noticing it would have helped) rather than fighting it too late! (This thought was rewarded by one splendid raspberry, which looks unusual but authoritative amongst the picked blackberries.)
Miword husband has staggered back groaning under the weight of 4 designs of Denby - not including the cheeseboard which was clearly an unwanted present!
Back on the train. I thought myself burdened last week. Bloke here has rucksack, bike, & dog! Suddenly I feel minimalist.
I look up from my kindle to see a lady with the most glorious silver gilt hair, serenely engrossed in her Patrick O'Brien, wearing tortoiseshell horn rims. May I age this gracefully!
Aww, toddler lass proudly holds up tickets & is immediately rewarded with a "hullo hinnie!" from the guard in severe contrast to the "any tickets from Darlington?" tones.
Newcastle leaves already turning yellow & orange as well as their green.
Lovely fellow traveller let me use his longer charging cable to boost phone whilst his powered on mine off my 2 port USB plug. Techies at travel!
Rousing cheeses to all British Rail souls who worked so hard to get people home or homewards as the weather took lumps out of the infrastructure.
You know you are facing down a long wait when you use google translate on Caesar adsum iam forte etc & find the wikipedia entry makes better sense. I confess to rather liking the "camera necessaria pro usus cookare, cwm saucepannis, stewpannis, scullero, dressero, coalholo, stovis, smoak-jacko"
Own bed...
There are yellings indicating this day off is no longer mine to call my own. Like that was news. Ah well - heath strength love courage hwbs & heavy roof tiles to all as have need!0
