Pleasures for today (Tuesday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Went with my brother to Wiltshire where he was doing an ecological survey type thing collecting and recording slow worms then rehoming them away from the building site. We collected 20.
4) At the rehoming site, realised the trees were absolutely covered in sloes! We lined the former slow worm bucket with a plastic bag and it took us 10 minutes to fill it. They're in the freezer now.
5) Looked round the charity shops in Cirencester and had a peach for an emergency lunch which was very nice.
6) Smaller son has passed the exam part of his BTEC in Sports Science. He also won the league in badminton today!
7) My sister has got a new job working for a charity.
8) Bigger son went to play football with his friends (this is a first) and is now in a 6 a side team!
9) Watched Reported Missing which is always fascinating, though very sad.0 -
For Monday:
-slept ok
-made a big pot of pasta sauce with kidney beans and mushrooms.
-made a loaf in the bm
- went swimming
-someone came round to pick up one of the bookcases0 -
1) Had a horrific dream about my boss saying I was underperforming. Woke up, realised I'm loving work right now and that put a smile on my face.
2) Plenty of prepped food in the fridge so last night I reheated some veggies sausages, mash and broccoli and today took a pot of HM veg soup from the fridge.
3) Feeling better from my cold, so going to CrossFit tonight at 7pm. Determined to do all three sessions this week.
4) Last night we booked the first of our 2019 hols. Realised I went abroad 6 times this year and still have a walking holiday in the Peaks to look forward too. Next year will be less spendy, but hopefully just as fun!
5) Finally feel like I'm getting used to DH being away in the week, but glad he'll be back after 2 more sleeps0 -
Had to giggle about the asparagus soup SYA
Monday pleasures,
Felt a bit bleurgh so have to think harder, firstly the weather was lovely, warm and sunny.
Tackled Mount Ironmore and moved clothes around.
Fast day so lunchtime couldn’t come around soon enough, eaten in the garden which was lovely for mid September.
Princess pony, being with her can always pull me out of doldrums.
Driving home from yard, sun getting low in the sky, everything a soft yellow.
Exercised little grey cells as well with Uni C.0 -
Good Morning, Oldstylers :hello:! My five Blessings for yesterday:
1. Visit to hospital was better than expected. Seen on time and none of the people seen mentioned the word 'leg ulcer' ................. so that put my mind at rest. Back to the consultant next week for another 'wound check' - he has 'no undue concerns'.
2. Sat in Costa by 8.45am reading their paper / doing crossword / falling back asleep.
3. Checked bank balance to find 'some money' left AFTER all bills paid yesterday :j - so popped into MrT's for a few bits.
4. Amazed how warm the day turned out - even though a bit breezy. Back home before lunchtime - Garlicky Mushrooms on Toast !
5. Spent afternoon soup-making - 'Tesco's Nana's Magic Soup'. So good last time that I've made a double-batch this time around. Portioned up, labelled and just waiting to go into freezer :j.
6. Lovely salad for evening meal followed by my soaps :j!
7. Great chat with lovely cousin - she's just getting into doing Family History, so giving her a few pointers.
Have a beautiful money-saving day folks xx!0 -
Oh blast and darn needles. Back at the mill!
V Boo. Lunch box and it is only half full as I like not to shop. Bonus is mini rolls this weak to keep the flavours going.
4 The gym will hurt tonight! More on getting beach ready for SF shortly!
3 Karma has returned to the mill. There never news I was missed! POs sore ted and life goes on. Contract renewed and we will see later!
2 Nite for tea we are having nasta pasta. Fills you good after the gym.
No need to have one today!
And you think you got it hard!0 -
1 We didn’t spend near what we thought at the weekend which is lovely and means while the calories may be guilty, a Chinese take out may be in order later in the week.
2 All of the washing dry and still on the line given the winds last night, for today the caravan bedding washed and hung out.
3 Mowed the back lawn and bagged it up for the tip and fed the grateful fish that I never seem to see.
4 Defrosted some choccy cake to have with a cuppa this evening when I get the munchies.:o
5 I thought about cleaning, and then I thought it will still be there tomorrow and no ones here between then and now, but then I felt guilty and decided to at least hoover the upstairs, polishes halo yup right.:rotfl:
6 I have recycled last night’s leftover chilli into todays lasagne, and the remains will be tomorrows lunch wrap filling.0 -
For today:
-got all the washing done and the ironing too.
- had a trip to the dump and the cs which more stuff
-had a lovely avocado with bread and marmite for lunch
- had a reasonably quiet afternoon
-GBBO tonight!0 -
 good evening, Oldstylers. Here's my 5 for today:
1. Decent night's sleep and woke just before my alarm clock. No hurry to get up, so managed to read for half an hour ...................... but then 'nature's call' got the better of me!
2. Quite good weather today and fairly warm, but unfortunately couldn't take advantage of it as no laundry to be done.
3. Sorted out an order for A$DA for tomorrow evening - took a later delivery slot because it was only £1.00 :j! Lots of bargains and ordered 'heavy liquidy stuff' that I struggle to carry with my elbow crutch.
4. Defrosted chest freezer and shuftied it in the porch - to make space for a coat-rail that I've got my eye on from Ikea. I don't like 'coat hooks' as the coats start to pile up and then look scruffy due to creases - much rather have them on coat hangers.
5. After feeling 'quite virtuous' over defrosting chest freezer, decided to tackle the top part of upstairs F/F - not quite as bad, but still got lots of BIG ice chunks out ..................... much more space in there now. Both now back to temperature and stuff put back again :j! Now need to do a 'Freezer Inventory' so that stuff doesn't get 'lost' in the depths! The biggest shock is how much Gluten Free Bread I've got stashed away !
6. Decided to abandon all thoughts of 'salad' for evening meal and resorted to using up the remaining 'Home Fries' for OH - I can't have them due to gluten in the coating - and last three Hash Browns for me :T.0 -
Much harrumphing and displeasure in builderly people today. No show. No answer to text.
However I got out & about for 2 hours into town.
Was going 'new to me ' furniture shopping and whilst heading in direction of another charity shop came across a new to me one. 2 sofas (£10 under my budget) and an extending table & 4 chairs that I will probably paint/ recover. All being delivered next Wednesday for the princely sum of £20.
Hopefully I have flooring down by then.
Also bought a new to me mustard coloured leather bag and jeans . Then a stripey jumper (another one ) for £1 and a lovely shade of pink wide legged linen trousers for £1 that look like they've never been worn!
Sat (whilst at this point waiting patiently ) and finished my library book. I really enjoyed it.
I had jam on toast for tea.
Beautiful sunset tonight.
Messages back and forth with friends who I've been sending daily house updates to. Today's was about the sofas!0
