Evening all - waiting for the family to come home from various endeavours. DD has been staff training at work and OH and DS have been to the footie (DS is coming home for the night having gone back to uni last week)
Pleasures for today
1. Much work done, looming deadline (APR 3, DD) doesn't seem quite so scary now.
2. Cleaned DS's room as i could get into it - discovered he had £30 in cash and a £20 TK Maxx voucher in a birthday card. They'd been so buried under carp on his chest of drawers he'd forgotten he'd got it. So that will be his pleasure
3. Made a loaf of sourdough a slice of which i had for breakfast and some sourdough pancakes one of which i had for lunch.
4. Had cheesy veg bake for tea from the freezer so no cooking, with beans from the garden that have blown down, so I shall have to pick them all now.
5. Watched Wanderlust - uh oh....
Night night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Pleasures for today (Monday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK and they enjoyed a bit of left over Bolognese.
3) Went to Sainsburys and Aldi so there is now food in the house.
4) Went to see my school friend for a cup of tea.
5) Bigger son has a job interview tomorrow (for a very local indeed p/t job).
6) Bigger son had a quick driving lesson on the way to meet his friends in the pub. I bumped into MrN in the shop in the next village and we both talked rubbish in an embarrassed way before we could make our excuses. :-/
7) Watched Holby City and am part way through watching GBBO.0 -
Pleasures for yesterday:
1. A friend at work got dumped on Monday night and was upset. I found £20 in the budget to buy her some decent wine, chocs and bath salts and left them discreetly under her desk. She was so touched, she cried. Obvs. not a pleasure that she was upset, but it was nice to be able to treat a friend.
2. Again, I'm thankful for Sunday Me who prepped so much food. I rolled out of bed this morning and shoved half a chopped grapefruit, HM veg soup and a pot of mash, greens and veggie sausage in my bag. No cooking required. Tonight I think I'll have a salad and a veggie patty thingy. DD has some leftover pizza and can have salad with me.
3. French class starts again on Thursday. Bit worried as I'm soooo rusty but hey, ho, good to work the grey matter!
4. A friend at work has organised for us to go out to a jazz club near her house in London on Saturday. Oh, and her boyfriend is French so I can practise
5. Even though I'm recovering from a cold, I managed to drag myself to CrossFit last night. I was crap but managed to get a workout done. All my size 8 stuff fits fabulously at the moment, which makes me feel good. Have another booked for tonight then rest until Sat morning!0 -
Tuesday pleasures,
We went to the seaside :j
Two very long walks, one of which included me having a paddle in the surprisingly warm sea, interspersed with a picnic lunch along with a fair bit of reading.
That feeling of sand between your toes.
Meeting lots of friendly people, mostly dog owners, we all fussed and admired each other’s fur babies.
Picking up a fish and chip supper and eating it looking out over the sea, this was at Horsey where the seal colony is and we saw so many bobbing in the water.
Not exactly a pleasure but thank goodness for leather seats, little dog was a bit sick on the way home  All is well now.0 -
Good Morning Folks,
Sat in a big nest on the sofa, cup of tea....feeling poorly. I have rung in sick, but anxious about what will happen. Atmosphere at work is not v caring at the moment.
Recent Pleasures.....
1. DH cleared the old shed for the builders to store their stuff.
2. Spoke to DD. She seems positive. Sad about coming home. She can understand why many of her colleagues return to Greece year after year.
3. Meal at friends house. Always good food and good company.
4. Enjoyed working with my new classes this week, despite feeling awful!.........OFSTED are on the horizon. More anxiety. Need to get the paperwork in place.
5. Listening to the wind outside and feeling glad I do not need to go anywhere.
Not finding time to post very often at the moment, but still reading everyone else's 5 a day.
Have a lovely day0 -
HE :heartpuls or try rubbing Vic on yers chest!
The mill, the mill!
V packed lunch box again! With extra mini roll today as well.

Phew, we've finally stopped unpacking and I feel like we've arrived! Hopefully I'll be able to post more regularly from now on it's nice to feel we're home at long last!
1) This lovely little town, it's quiet, happy, friendly and so laid back it's a really pleasant place to live.
2) Our bakers shop which does some absolutely amazing breads and the best Chelsea Buns I've ever had.
3) We've seen our Grandpickles more in the last 3 weeks than we do most years, it's why we wanted to move and I'm enjoying it so very much.
4) Zebra's reaction when he saw us waiting as he came out of school yesterday, bee line for Oma and jumped into my arms beaming for a huge cuddle, now that's better than anything you can but isn't it?
5) We have book cases, one in the dining room currently holding my cookery books and another being constructed in the kitchen, I've missed my books and now I can have all of them whenever I want, priceless.0 -
I'm so pleased for you MrsLW, these moments are so precious and can't be postponed, fleeting childhood needs to be nurtured as it happens. It's great that you've been able to achieve the move and be so much more accessible to family.
Today my five pleasures are:
Enjoying soup for lunch today that I made yesterday, knowing there are two more containers of it in the freezer to enjoy on other days.
Being inside and not out in the howling storm! Food shopping can wait a day or two, I can make do thanks to the fridge, freezer and store cupboard.
Catching up with paying a couple of bills, so I don't have to remember about them.
Today I'm starting to knit a cot blanket for a grandchild to be. I'm using white yarn, a neutral colour as the parents have opted not to know in advance what sex the baby is. The yarn is cotton with a touch of cashmere, lovely and soft but machine washable for practicality.
Like MrsLW, I'm feeling glad and thankful that I've settled into a new home. It's in a nice part of a small city that I know well, and a friend helped hang the pictures on the walls last week. That was just what was needed so that it finally felt like home.0 -
WEEMIDGIE I'm happy for you that you too have a lovely new home to enjoy, it takes certain resolution to actually make that change in your lives doesn't it? Hopefully for both of us the decision and achievement of moving to a new place will not only a challenge but also a new start and a new adventure in life, bon voyage love xxx.0

1 Sneaky for yesterday Watched Holby for the first time and I’m addicted, also watched Wanderlust.
2 I made soup from scratch for lunch, the “nanas recipe” one.
3 I popped to lidl for milk and greenery and Mr T for RTCs only, rather happy it all came in at £14.
4 One hell of a headache phone call lasting 52 minutes:mad: to awful mortgage bank making up figures as they go, I have officially lodged a complaint, a pleasure not to roll over to their absolute and utter uselessness.
5 I’ve just heard an owl, nothing more relaxing than that.:)0
