Wishing your DOH a speedy recovery after today’s op MrsSD

    Sunday pleasures,

Our plumber mate turned up in the morning and left us with a dehumidifier, he is due back today to hopefully mend the problem.

It rained, a lot, so nothing to do but read and catch up all things Ambridge.

Watching the big old pigeons having a bath in the puddles.

Soup and cheese toasties for lunch.

Went to see pony but she had pulled a shoe so no riding :( pleasure was I found the shoe in her paddock along with 5/6 of the nails.

The sun came out and it was a lovely afternoon.

With no heating or hot water we both said what the hell and had a cheeky takeaway, it was delicious and small dog had a prawn cracker or two :D

Chilly evening but full moon was beautiful.
  • Good Morning everybody . My five Blessings for yesterday were:

    1. Church in the morning - sat with 2 lovely friends, one whose DH passed away last week. Part way through the sermon, the friend - the one whose husband died - nudged me because something reminded her of her husband's sense of humour ...................... the three of us got the giggles and were like 'the naughty girls on the back row in class'. Had to apologise to the visiting preacher afterwards, but he was great and laughed it off :o.

    2. Another friend had found a book on Coeliac Disease in a charity shop and passed it on to me - very interesting read :D.

    3. My 'gardener' came in the afternoon - it's been weeks since he's been, but he only cuts the grass. I do what I can with the hedges. The grass was virtually non-existant after all the hot weather, so nothing to cut. Then, we've had so many 'wet weekends' that he's not been able to come and cut 'what little there was' ......................... so it was now desperate for a cut. All looking very 'healthy and lush' now :j! Added bonus that the Garden Waste guys were due this morning, so bin is now empty again ..................... ready for the privets and beech hedge to be given a good trim ;)!

    4. For some reason, I 'took the knock' during Four In A Bed - dozed for around an hour and a half ............ must have needed it ;)!

    5. Evening meal of Roast Chicken, GF Stuffing, boiled baby pots, steamed carrots and courgettes with GF Gravy - not had a 'full roast dinner' for ages, so it went down a 'real treat' :j!

Have a lovely day, Oldstylers :j xxx

Back from a lovely long weekend in Chester with DD2 and friends. Forgot to pack charger for puter so no updating while there. Still haven't been to liverpool olliebeak but waved as we went past :-) So for the weekend
    1) reunion with 37 others. horrid drive down and didn't realise DD2 had agreed to drop a shed load of stoof at xoh's in manchester so we arrived a wee bit late for first meal at The White Horse at Chester races. DD2 and I stayed at the George and Dragon which was considerably cheaper than the Holiday Inn where the majority were staying.
    2) Friday was an inside day. Fascinating lecture on the silk road then introduction to the museum, wander round the museum, lunch, equally fascinating lecture on the vikings, answers to the quiz (i won grin grin), raffle (i didn't win anything), time for a wander then the gala dinner at The Paddocks. Yummy food
    3) Saturday piled onto coach to Macclesfield for guided tour of silk weaving machinery, lunch in the old School Room, then self-guided round museum. DD2 and i then had short wander round Macclesfield, including of course 2 CSs. In the first the radio was on 'and all the best to Dundee who are having their first Pride' yay. Back to chester for another good but less formal meal.
    4) Sunday 2 hour tour of Chester from 2 very knowledgeable vikings. 'In 893 Vikings raided Chester, then 'a deserted city in Wirral' For 1100 years old they weren't at all bad! Ended at St Johns with a very welcome cuppa and cake. DD2 and I then did a spot of shopping (would have been rude not to!)
    5) Good drive back, only one patch of rain, no traffic jams. Stopped at our favourite services - Annandale Water for a very late lunch or early tea. An home to a very clean house. Mrpiano admitted to having the heating on lol.
Have a good day everyone. Tomorrow is 3 months till.... rofl

  • This morning was a heavy condensate outside. Our electronic thermostat pumped the anti chill on this morning and inside we had no condensate, unlike those who wait till the end of never to do so. Condensate in the house causes damp and mould. make sure your utilities are fixed and any WHD is applied. BoP mope ends!

V At mill wes has another IT downgrade. What worked previously and was no problemo, now has been downgraded to the next level of abysmal. In the boiler room, the shovels are good to go!

4 Took BoPsie, who still has her chill, to the quack this morning for blood. Like a stone, there was none! She will be ok by xmas. Raffles is ok.

3 Tea last night, and tonight as well, was roast buzzard with snorkers in blanket. I must say that BoP’s rosemary infused roast tatties were excellent again. These tatties are not available in the emporiums. Inn BoP’s packed luncheon box today is the usual, with breakaway biscuit and oranges in jelly has returned! Yum later!

2 Watched the gooners yesterday. Easy. Not talking about …

Having one today, bad enuffs with IT at the mill! But BoP who purchases some new shirts, and a ties! New pink one and ties today. Best bib and tocker I say!

    It is a backward step!
  • 1) Beautiful sunny day after all the rain and gloom of the past few days much cooler but that's nice too.

    2) We've been given a greenhouse by one of DD1s neighbours which we went to see this morning, it's super and she's dismantled it and labelled all the bits bless her, we'll try to get it moved over here asap.

    3) Got the first Christmas food item today a pack of German Stollen flavoured star biscuits, yummy!

    4) Got more boarding and insulation for the loft, and HWK will start with the insulation this afternoon.

    5) Popped back to the CS in the village for a framed picture with a Steam Train on for the Zebra child's bedroom here, found it on Saturday but had too many other things so couldn't carry it. Luckily it was still there and was only £2.50 and I found a really nice wide glass bowl too, replacing a very old one I shed before the move.
  • Monday’s not so pleasurables :(

Didn’t hear alarm so mad dash for DH - up at 7:30, out the door & into cab by 7:44 :T
Arrived at Moorfields 8:15 only to find no op scheduled - it was the morning clinic to assess urgency & see the consultant who does the surgery :( Waiting room was full & DH didn’t get assessed until 10:30 - was told the op will be done by the end of the week :( Then had to wait for his paperwork. Unfortunately there was a mix up for DH & 4 other patients so he didn’t get out of the hospital until gone 15:00 hours. He decided to go OS & caught the bus & finally got home 16:30 :( having had nothing to eat or drink since the cup of coffee he gulped down at 7:40  He is now fully fed & watered - one bacon & one egg sarnie & a pint of coffee. He is now having a nap :D

    So pleasures

A dry, bright & sunny day but very chilly.

CH on for a couple of hours - so much for waiting until Nov 1st :rotfl:

Feeding DH within 10 minutes of walking in the door :D

The delight on my DSis’s face when I made her a bacon sarnie :)

NOT feeling guilty about doing no housework :D

    Oh dear Mrs SD...

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Woke at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep. eventually gave up and had a cuppa, started watching Press and did drop off for a couple of hours. Had a bizarre dream where i was riding a bike up a hill and thought to myself "you can do it, because it is a dream" :rotfl:
    2. Made good progress on unexpected chapter. Sent it off this morning for tomorrow's meeting.
    3. DD and I went to flicks to see Mama mia (again, for me). Loved it still
    4. Lentil shepherd's pie for tea with roasted carrot and kale chips..
    5. the Bodyguard

Feeling a little battered after the dentist today so resting up this afternoon...
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Bedtime.

A day of some growling, some progress, some setbacks but I have a stove top which is connected to gas...not quite got ovens yet (3 of 'em!) as electrician comes after the plasterer has been. He didn't turn up! Sigh! Velux windows are in. Much light.

Went to T and took a trolley...have just been doing day to day baskets as I've had no facilities. I bought vegetables! I know!

We all kind of mucked in and made a pasta with chicken and veg and cream and it was rather delicious . Haggis was delighted that we are back in the kitchen! Nobody knows where anything is! It's in the cupboard to the left/right,high /low, top/bottom drawer! Dunno...just look!

A couple of showers but mostly dry and got some washing out.

    Nice dog walks.

Nice chat with my sister. I had hoped to have visited by now but shall need to wait till all work is done.

Read a library book...borrowed from neighbour!
  • Haven't managed to catch up on the bodyguard yet but really pleased it's up for another 5 months :D
    1) last bootcamp in the park. Glorious day. The trainer did it with us cept he had a (much) heavier medicine ball and a devil of a kettle bell.
    2) very nice breakfast of hard boiled egg salad - Mr T had a bag of pre-prepared salad for 6p last night. would have been rude not to
    3) lunch was other half of bag of salad with chicken breast and bread. i took it to the community garden to eat as the weather is glorious
    4) nice walk home chatting to mum who is back from venice
    5) after supper (mrpiano cooked) band practice. we have a ceilidh on saturday.
and now bed, boys, tea and archers. just what's needed when the chilly evenings arrive
