Pleasures for today (Wednesday).
1) Not a pleasure to argue with smaller son for hours about going to school but nice to finally prise him from my car at 11am...
2) Had a re-think over bigger son's 18th birthday present overnight so managed to buy the bits I wanted.
3) Hens well and I spent about an hour with them in the sunshine so they could have a good forage outside of their pen.
4) Bigger son started a new part time job at the racing car engineers and had to clean out their machinery with a high pressure hose. They had a look at his new motorbike for him.
5) Did another couple of hours of floor sanding so that is most of the landing done now.
6) Made burritos for tea.
7) Had a half hearted clean of the kitchen then have been watching iplayer in bed since, as smaller son is being too difficult to tolerate being in the same room as. :-/0 -
Wednesday pleasures
Another gloriously sunny day plus it was warm
Sm was not busy
Fed the squirrel & the fox
DSis was out for a few hours
Feeling fortunate that as the oldest person in the house I am the healthiest but not the fittest :rotfl:
Moon is bright in a clear sky.

I'm struggling a bit with the dark mornings too, but loving the autumn colours and the sunshine
- Managed to get all 3 lounge sofa throws washed and dried on the line, plus a normal load, despite the line snapping as I was hanging it out. I managed to tie the broken ends and still have secure bits to hang up on. I've ordered a new wire and will have a go at replacing...
- Got the morning off so I'm going to have a garden morning :j:j - bringing the geraniums in for the winter and taking cuttings and then putting some of my winter seedlings and garlic bulbs in the pots is the plan, and lifting and splitting snowdrops if time allows
- The broad beans and spring onions are going where the courgettes are so I think that will be a weekend job, this one or next
- DD2 home for the weekend, on her own without BF which is nice for a change (not that he isn't lovely but it'll be nice to have her on our own for a bit) - and a family meal for 2 niece's birthdays on Saturday with all our lot able to got :j (minus OHs this time which makes the numbers easier now we'll be eating indoors!)
- Lovely show of late roses, and my sunflowers are still going strong - so pretty0 -
Wednesday pleasures,
Such a warm, sunny day, was in just jeans and t-shirt by midday.
Getting the last of the winter coats washed and dried on the line, winter prepping.
Lovely farrier came and put PP’s front shoe back on with no charge :j
Walked into garden to find my lovely man was home early from meeting and sitting there reading his book in the sun. Made a cuppa and joined him there.
Getting my cooking mojo back a bit, tea was roasted butternut squash with goats cheese and spicy onions.
The setting sun hitting the beech trees and turning them into blazing orange.

Five for Wednesday:
1. Trip to GP for repeat of BP check. Chatted with a lovely lady in the Waiting Room to pass the time before we both got called in. It was 'better' than on Tuesday, but still not 'good' - even after taking THREE TIMES. Beginning to get 'White Coat Syndrome
). GP (who I'd never met before) increased my meds.
2. Trip to Lidl (almost next-door to Surgery) for milk, soft prunes, GF Thins.
3. Missed the bus, so called into McD's for a coffee. Packed out, so sat at a table with 'another oldie' who was on her own. We put the world-to-rights surrounded by gangs of noisy teens from the local College ..................... I succumbed to a 'McD's burger-without-bun' and put it onto one of my GF Thins :j!
4. Back home and dozed off on the sofa - zzzzzzzz!
5. Planned on having 'Beans & Egg on Toast' for evening meal .................. WHAT - NO BAKED BEANS!!!! How on earth has THAT happened !
5 for Yesterday -
1. Managed to get to hospital to get the shuttle bus to the 'other hospital' on time :j.
2. Appointments running hour and a half behind schedule (AFTER my early start to my journey ) - BUT we were all served with Tea/Coffee/Biscuits by way of an apology :T!
3. Knee wound still not showing signs of healing - but the Registrar was so nice about it. (See how I'm REALLY trying to find 'positivity' in all things!
4. DGS1 met me in the Town Centre and I treated him to 2 Pound Bakery Pasties - I DID offer him something better, but it was HIS choice! Visited the 'Farm Shop' and got him some Chinese Chicken Nuggets for his evening meal and a cooked chicken to take home for myself and OH for our evening meal. (£3.99 for a cooked chicken :j!).
5.Got a lift back home from DD's friend who brought her back home from College - saved me struggling on the bus with shopping bag and elbow crutch.
6. Phone call from lovely cousin, we're working on family history together. She had a query about somebody in HER tree but not in mine. We eventually managed to track him down using 1911 Census which had been 'mis-transcribed' - so a great learning curve for her :j.
Oh well - better get my backside into gear - want to call in Aldi this morning, before going to supervise DGS1.
Take care, everybody. Hope you all manage to have a No Spend Day :T.0 -
Waking up to a warm house and having a long, hot shower, oh the bliss.
Hey, Lainey, stop taunting Mhagster :rotfl:
Morning all - filling in five minutes before leaving for my yoga class...
Pleasures for last few days
1. Meeting with supervisors went well and they said to just upload my assessment. They said nice things about my writing and gave me some good tips 'going forward' (hate that phrase, but it fits). So assessment finished FIVE DAYS early, :T who knew that was even possible. To be fair, even if i got referred (which i won't) nothing would change, I'd just carry on and have more on resubmission
2. Walk through Regent's Park - always a pleasure but especially on a sunny day.
3. Tooth and jaw settled after major dental work on Monday - was excrutiating then disappeared as if by magic (pain, not tooth)
4. Good eating this week, OH on holiday so I've been having a meat free, alcohol free week (which OH hasn't, phoned me completely !!!!!! the other night :rotfl: insisting he wasn't). had fish pie on monday after dentist as was nice and soft, otherwise been veggie all week
5. OH having a lovely holiday in Sicily and mainland Italy. Loads of trains so not my idea of a holiday but glad he's enjoying it.
6. watched some good TV, particularly Trust, which i've now worked my way through. Struggling a bit with Strangers, but like seeing Hong Kong. It didn't seem that dangerous when I was there :rotfl:
7. Lunch with friends yesterday
8. DD had a lovely day at our local theme park with her friends. it;s the furthest she's driven since she passed her test 4 years ago - it's 3 miles away. :rotfl:
9. Lovely blue sky and sunshine - shame i've no washing to do
10. Hmm, can I get to 10? <<thinks>> hmm might have to bank that one....
have a lovely day all - i am off to ICT for the weekend.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Read that someone around here had Buttocks for dinner!
And VJs Mum. Minded of old buffer at the salt mine who answered where he wanted to be in five years time. he put retired! He had to explain to humane remains his answer. He was 63!
V BoPsie is complaining that she has a full Scotch egg inn her lunch box! She knows BoP’s rules, like it or lump it! Ooops seem to has forgets to cut it in half for my lunch as well. Please think of BoP who is short inn his luncheon box today.
4 Having to scoot off later to Letchworth as it is aunt’s funeral in the morning over in Ipswich. We has enuff pennies for a bacon and egg banjo each as well! More later.
3 In the boiler room at work we have been given a biscuit barrel and it is full to the gunnels. On about the boiler room, this very day our furnace did not come on and there was no condensate today! Furnace decoked and off as we are out tonight!
2 Day BoP is delivering satisfaction to customer all over the place while we seat in the boiler room with our shovels. Two are very happy with our shovelling!
Having one today. Lunch box failure!
All there is today!0 -
1 Spent the day yesterday at the in laws, always nice to chat.
2 Up early today, washing on the line, and front and back garden mowed.
3 30p flowers still going strong two weeks on.
4 Healthy fish and veg for tea.
5 Popped to lidl for various healthy bits and bobs, I’ve sworn off Mr T for now, I have a lack of will power when it comes to bad sweet stuff and yellow stickers.0 -

Pleasures for today (Thursday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Egg and soldiers for breakfast.
3) Hens OK and got them some more layers' pellets.
4) DIY continues - more polyfillaing of holes, changed the toilet seat (after the bolts sheared off completely this morning, swinging me round and then down the toilet...).
5) Big clean up continues before bigger son's birthday - did the bookcase, all the windows, frames and sills, tidied the garden. 2 loads of washing.
6) Took bigger son to college then went to Sainsburys and onto PCWorld to pick up my laptop. Not mended, though they assured me they DID replace batteries under their warranty. Also sent it back with its power lead!
7) Just watched 2 episodes of First Dates Hotel with bigger son.
I am not really enjoying these few days before bigger son is 18 (Saturday). It is making me rather melancholy :-(0
