Thursday pleasures
A gloriously warm & sunny day :T
Mixed pleasure/worry - DH was called in for his retina reattachment opbut was out of the house for almost 9 hours
. Happily it was a success - he left looking like Pirate Pete & came home looking like Pirate Pete :rotfl:
My ‘displacement therapy’ was successful - the cloakroom cleaned + the front window frame, sill & glass both inside & out.
My hm soup looked fairly unappealing but was absolutely delicious with hm croutons
45 minute chat with my neighbour
A glorious sunset
A really bright moon in a clear sky - so even with all the light pollution managed to see a dozen stars :T

My 5 for Yesterday -
1. Yet another beautiful Autumn Day :j.
2. Chatted with a lovely lady on the bus heading for Aldi - 25mins journey passes quicker in good company.
3. Some good bargains in Aldi - bought some GF Food/Snacks to take with me to a family bbq tomorrow. Thank goodness for my trusty 'wally-trolley' :T.
4. Called into Costa for a relaxing :coffee: - next door to Aldi - before heading off to DD's to spend rest of the day with DGS1.
5. DGS1 spent the day 'twiddling' with an engine (or something :undecided) - but managed to get him to come inside for 'sausage butties' for his lunch. As they were 'gluten-free', I had some as well, and we chatted about his 'College Course' over lunch :j.
6. Lovely cuddles with DGD2 (age 10) when she got home from school. She's finally announced that she no longer wants to go up into Guides this year - had been worried about disappointing her mum, but DD wasn't really worried at all ................. probably relieved at not having to spend all that money again on Uniform/Trips/Subs etc. It's amazing how those costs all add-up - some of those young girls can get awfully snooty about '2nd hand uniforms'
.
7. Back home to more of the 'cooked chicken' with some 'Spicy Actifry Chips' with squirts of Mayo and Sweet Chilli Sauce . There's a bit more left for sandwiches for lunch today - so it's served us quite well :T.
8. Put some Dried Peas to soak, ready for cooking up later. I freeze them into small takeaway trays, so there's always some on hand when we want them - saves having to think well in advance :j.
Have a good day everybody!

1) Lovely sunny day but cooler than it has been and a brusque little wind out there is making it feel really autumnal, nice though.
2) Visit to the village produce market gave more goodies, another jar of pickled onions for HWK, a dozen beautiful dark brown free range eggs, some gorgeous soaps made into pale pink roses (real flower shape with individual petals) with rosebuds and dark green leaves in presentation boxes and the best tasting rye loaf I've had outside the continent and it was flavoured with cardamom Mmmmmm yum!
3) Sleeping well at night here too, the first couple of weeks saw me wake at 2 am and then not being able to get off again but now we're both sleeping well and through to 7ish. Makes for a much better life!
4) Lovely chat with DD2 as she drove home last night. That Zebra has gone into school with gusto, loves it and also loves going to the child minder on the days DD works after school. He's reading and his writing is coming along very well and he's a happier boy altogether than those last few weeks before leaving nursery when he was very uncertain and unsettled.
5) HWK is taking the covering boards off the fireplace as the wood stove chap is coming on the 1st to inspect the fireplace and tell us if it's possible to have a stove installed. Step one …..0 -
1 I’ve just booked us in to see an event and we’re really looking forward to it.
2 I’ve applied for contract which does look good.
3 Properly topped and bottomed all of the upstairs it was a lot to do, I won’t bore you with the dust, vinegar, washing loads, beddings etc etc list.
4 Deep conditioned hair and did a face pack I feel more human.
5 A whole chicken cooking away herbs smell lovely, I have lots of plans for it, curry, mixed pie, wraps etc etc.
6 Ran a couple of errands, sending off an ebay item sold and picked up a prescription.
7 Decided to hoover and mop downstairs otherwise it just tracks up to the now clean upstairs.
8 DH has just finished fitting a couple of solar panels to the van.0 -
1) gym. mastered the snatch the legs a kimbo the body wobble - hmm maybe that wasn't quite right but enjoyed :-) (it was apparently metcon)
2) glorious day. meeting, 2 phd supervisions, lunch, meeting with da boss man, urgent job done and...
3) the phoenix. news of DD giving up the wobbleade were exaggerated. After 9 days succumbed to 2 pints of cider yum but did buy the boys (male friends not the dogs!) whisky
4) decided the boys (dogs) were probs hungry so caught the bus home. met friend and had a nice chat

Hello. Sat with feet up on sofa as I've just washed the floor!
Yesterday was a day of many frustrations ( plasterer didn't turn up and wasn't replaced) which had a huge knock on effect to today but there were nice things in and around the day.
Went into town first thing. Had to go and find out about sofas. So I've been given a lovely red leather sofa for free! It has a repairable fault but I think it would be more hassle for them to get rid and I love it. So I will get cash back. Bit of hassle ( and grumpy delivery men) getting it in but it's in.
Niece called me , are you in, no, I'm at your house...just go in and wait. So we had a nice doggy walk and chat.
Plumbers finished ensuite. Love it!
Made a start at reclaiming my bedroom as my own space and not a dumping ground. Whacked my head with the Hoover and just collapsed in a heap of emotional distress and just sobbed and sobbed!
Then the niecely people came over for tea. Quick doggy walk with GN. Chatting about her birthday party next weekend ...being held here ( if we are ever blooming finished. We too watched a beautiful sunset.
Nipped out to get cash and met a friend and had a lovely chat with her.
For today.
Cold and frosty first thing. Car windscreen frosted up. Son needs to get out of bed earlier! Beautiful first thing doggy walk. Sky filled with stars and big bright moon.
Plasterer here but in everyone's way and everyone was in his way and he was moaning to his boss about this and the sofas in the way so at this point I came down stairs and gave my tuppence worth!
Lovely walk with H and his ladies. It was such a beautiful morning. Sun was gently warm. Trees stunning colours. Robins singing. Mushrooms on verges. Bright berries on trees.
Mobile Library today and returned 4 and borrowed 4 and had a nice chat.
Cheerio builderly people I detest you all equally! Plasterer will be back with his messy ways in the morning. They're all nice enough lads but I'm just over it all!
Friend came and picked up DD2 and I and we went to Glasgow shopping. I hate shopping. I was going for boots. I got 2 pairs. And got an excellent 20% off with DD student card. Thank you. And 2 hand towels. And a plate for Halloween. I was ready to come home then. 2 hours later...
Got a cheque from stupid bloody pension company as their apology for being tardy! ( even though they'd already paid a sum directly in to my account and pay a monthly sum directly they sent a blooming cheque!)
Have made a good start to reclaiming the bedrooms. Refilled airing cupboard. I do like a nice tidy cupboard. Then other storage cupboard which had been empty and stinky is nice and clean and smelling sweetly. Refilled that too. It kept me out the way of the builders who I was seething at!
Right I'm off to move some more furniture!0 -
A day of 2 halves today :-/
The first half was mainly pre-birthday preparation and went something like this:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens well, cleaned out their sleeping quarters, 3 eggs.
3) Man came with contract for my new front door.
4) House now immaculate - cleaned the bathroom, washing, drying, changed beds, hoovered and steamed all the floors downstairs...
5) Dropped a bag off at the charity shop.
6) Double checked all the arrangements for the 18th birthday of bigger son tomorrow, another party he had this evening plus paintballing for a different friend on Sunday.....
And then got a phone call from him that he was in hospital.
7) Because our hospital has been so severely downgraded, it is just a minor injuries unit and he got seen very quickly. They haven't X rayed (which I think next week will prove to have been a mistake...) He decided to take a short cut from college to meet his friend - a short cut he has taken a hundred times but this time he didn't jump over the canal, he jumped 95% over and landed on the edge. I wouldn't be surprised if his ankle is fractured as he still can't put any weight on it and his toes have swollen up.
8) Made fairy cakes for this evening (which he was too queasy to eat) and his birthday cake.
9) Just spoken to my school friend on the phone and she is coming over tomorrow.0 -
Good Morning Folks,
Frith Hope DS1 foot less serious than you think. Otherwise he will be on bike polishing duty and relying on Mum's taxi for a few weeks. Fingers crossed it's just bruised.
Recently.....
1. DD arrives home in the early hours of tomorrow......excited :j
2. Thursday and Friday group have finished making a picket fence and painted it. Looks good.
3. Channa Daal and rice made by catering group for Friday lunch was yum.
4. Binge watched Killing Eve over two nights.
5. We now have a concrete base in the extension. :j
Have a lovely day0 -
Heal quickly wishes for son of Frith
Friday pleasures,
Met eldest hollow legged one for brunch, I had the veggie breakfast which was fab, not a faux snorker in sight but roasted beet, tomatoes and pots, together with scrambled egg & toast.
Woke up with painful knee which just got worse all day, so much so that couldn’t bear knee bent to ride. Might have cried a little with frustration.
Lovely yard owner understood and suggested a turn around school with feet out of stirrups, not the same but at least finished on high.
Sourdough crumpets for tea.
Enjoyed an extra slice with a glass of something cold, for medicinal purposes you understand.0
