sending hugs @frith and @ampersand
I was supposed to have today off but we're very low on staff and sometimes student needs just have to come first. that said
- I enjoyed the day - I tidied my desk, printed out the bits I needed and got lots done
- I also made time for a coffee with a colleague and another passed her probation hooray
- haircut and lovely chat with my hairdresser (and had a very nice latte and chocolate biccie)
- friend was arriving from up north 20:20 (yes there is further north than Dundee!) to go to a very dear friend's funeral tomorrow so she came to the end of choir practice (fellow Episcopalian fellow alto)
- we played the tunes we're playing tomorrow while people come in and had just finished when the Mr T delivery arrived - that's all now put away, archers and bed

Also sending hugs to @Frith @ampersand
We went for another long walk, this time to pick up meds for DH. As we were just ambling, we meandered around an antique’s “emporium” and a charity shop, which had a café at the back so we stopped for a drink, before making our way back and picking up some basics from Aldi to lug home.
I used up some bananas and made a banana and date loaf, which is being highly praised which is rather nice.
Dinner was chicken and rice.
Applying for some roles, and the number of places that have literally awful application processes.

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1)Not a bad sleep.
2) Drove to Wolverhampton and found a parking space with no drama. Quick cup of tea in Costa.
3) A direct train to Carlisle. We had about a 2.5 second view of the sea near Lancaster, then we enjoyed going through the Lake District.
4) We went to the cathedral to see an exhibition about the moon.
5) We spent a couple of hours in the military museum and the castle, going up all the stairs and walking round the walls.
6) The highlight for smaller son I think was the West Walls Brewery where he had 2 different pints. We shared a table with 2 men and one of them was incredibly excited when a member of staff went through a false door, described as a bookcase!
7) We looked round Sostrene Grene, never found a branch before.
8) B and B is ok. As always, bits where I would get my paintbrush out if I owned it but fine, and the breakfast is supposed to be wonderful. I have fashioned a bed extension using a chair and cushions as smaller son has a 7ft mattress at home.
9) Had a Chinese for tea.
10) Watched The Traitors.

looks like I last wrote on Monday! How remiss of me!
Tuesday was spent at home ( I think…this is why I write daily 😆) doggy walk at CP and out for lunch with friend.Wednesday I was working first thing so out early and early enough to try and miss the school traffic. It was so blooming chilly first thing. I was actually shivering!
Home…c’mon doggy our bags are packed. Down to CP for an overnight stay. But nah to the no wifi or phone connection. We had lovely walks and I read a book from start to finish. But it was cold.
Thursday. Back up the road. Pottered about.Met a friend in the afternoon. They gave me a lovely load of clothes! Some still with their tags on! Oooh it was like Christmas opening them up 😆Friday. Out early for flu jab. Dropped some stuff off at charity shop near the vaccine centre. Met someone I know so had a nice chat with them. Supermarket and home.
Log burner on. Slow cooker for a chilli made with RTC mince. Had that for tea.Portion for tea tonight and three in the freezer. Sat and read most of afternoon/evening.
Early beds most evenings with varying degrees of sleep!
Have a lovely weekend!

We walked around to collect various items from a local olio collector, this time it’s Waitrose’s, we have cabbages, swedes, potatoes, several wholegrain breads. Loading it away caused an unexpected cleanout of the fridge and I froze down the breads, again another food science trick to try and help a diabetic who loves a bit of bread.
Made a rather big batch of mince base so lasagnes/ spag bol/a chilli, but todays is one of DH’s favourites of Shepards Pie, but using swede as topping to keep the diabetes from spiking.
Lunch we did have a grilled bacon roll.
Sorted out the usual autumn clothes swap, not my favourite I much prefer dresses.
Received an offer on a bay item which is handy.
For today
We did the long walk again, this time for the flu jab, and I have to say it was very well coordinated this time around.
We walked back via a place we would never have found otherwise, a little orchard planted a few years ago. We pondered into a shop out of curiosity and found 2 sandwiches vastly reduced so snaffled them while admiring autumn colours.
We spent about an hour trying to see if we could capture the northern lights at least via the phone, but no joy this end.
Dinner was easy chicken bits, very oven to plate.

it’s been a while since I posted but for last few. Months
- Holidays- I’m away at the Moment having a peacetime time.
- I’m managing to work without telling managers what I think of them. It is the patients who are important. Though that is becoming a minority opinion at the moment
- Enjoying being a grandmother. I will become a second grandmother in January, and will be included more. I feel if I have other plans at short notice I’m judged if I’m not available but I do work 4daya a week.
- DH isn’t ready to retire but he is having minor health issues which I think will resolve if he toolk things easier
5. Seeing and saying hello to people on my way to work.
7 - Holidays- I’m away at the Moment having a peacetime time.

Good morning! Just waiting on it being light enough to drive to CP
For Saturday. A very blustery walk at CP , a pocket full of conkers and cobwebs well and truly blown away!
Home to head over to a car boot sale. A tad underwhelming! The weather meant lots of supposed sellers never turned up! And they finally moved it inside but then the sellers had to re-set up!Texted my friend who lives nearby…are you in? She was! So popped into see her .
And home where I was for the rest of the day. Finished the book I’d been reading and enjoying and then had an early night!
A very quiet day!

For the last few days,
Weather! lots of it and different kinds, my favourite misty mornings, some warm bright sunshine and then the forecasted all day rain did come but in a matter of an hour!
Luckily I’d just gotten the beautiful grey one in so the cosy time of rain hammering down on the barn roof but my friend wasn’t so lucky and came in looking as if someone had emptied a bucket over her head poor thing.
A hay delivery and a max size bale with my name on it.
Yesterday morning was baking with a loaf made plus triple chocolate brownies.
Eldest DSS over from footie coaching job abroad and here for lunch. His WSL team won promotion this year and he was buzzing, lovely to see.
Did a charcuterie board which Capt S described as bread, meat & cheese with garnish, guess he’s right! Followed by said brownies.
United game and another home win, cautiously liking a good start in L1.
