    Saturday pleasures,

    Mushrooms on toast for breakfast.

Not a pleasure but knee painful and swollen so spent most of day on sofa. Did manage to get all my mending done and made a big dent in my book.

Enjoyed the golf, only tournament we really watch, but not the football results, two nil up and lost 4-2, tsk.

Made it over to the yard to see girlie, another shoe lost  but she took it slowly coming in to accommodate her hop along Mum.

Capt S had to wake me up to go to bed but dropped straight off again.

Frith and HC : I too have been thinking about Thomas Jones and his family. An ex colleague lost a nephew in similar circumstances when he started at York University. It must be hard for them to hear about this young lad.

    Yesterday

    1. Moved EBay HQ from DD bedroom to dining room.

    2. Washing, washing, washing, but helped by Line drying some of it.

    3. Turned DS2 roast dinner, which he did not eat , into Spanish omelet for Lunch.

    4. Quick visit to posh coffee shop as a reward for DH painting all the stonework white.

    5. DH has ordered new blinds for the front of the house and found a 10% off code!

    6. Lasagne and Deadpool 2...... Great Saturday night in. Even managed a glass of wine after collecting DH2 from his sleepover.

    7. DD has landed, but stranded at Luton, cos she missed her coach. Flight delayed.........distress phone call at 1:30am. Now booked onto coach at 7:30, so we will collect her at 10:30am. (If possible due to closures for Tory party conference and half marathon........who didn't think that one through!). :rotfl:

    Have a lovely day :)
  • For the last few days:

-more stuff taken to the dump and cs

    -more paper shredding done

-made a big pot of potato and leek soup

-finished my book, which was a gripping and moving read (The Choice by Dr Edith Eger)

-still warm enough to go outside with short sleeves on

Good Morning all ! Been busy for past couple of days, so here's my 5 for Friday -

    1. Another beautiful morning - with promise of it continuing at least until tomorrow :j.

    2. Needed to bake 2 Lemon Drizzle Cakes - but not enough 'ordinary flour'. Had to make them 'Gluten Free' instead ..................... but turned out beautifully. I doubt if anybody will REALLY notice. One going to DB's barbecue tomorrow and one for a friend in church on Sunday :).

    3. Phone call from DS2 to let me know that DiL was coming to visit me with DGS5 (age 2) - oh yoiks, the place is a tip and I've got 'cooking/baking stuff' scattered! Phone call from DiL to say did I need to go to shops and shall we 'do lunch'
    phew :T!

    4. Lunch in Tesco's Cafe - round supermarket with 'Bobster' strapped in trolley - Coffee in Costa ............. because we deserved it ;)!

    5. Gammon/Egg/Baked Beans/Mushrooms for evening meal - yum yum .

    6. Prepped peppers/red onions/salad for Saturday morning's cooking session.

    5 for Saturday -

    1. Yet another lovely morning - checked forecast and it was set to continue for the rest of the day :j.

    2. Set to making two lots of Pasta Salad. GF Ham Pasta Salad for me and 'ordinary Tuna' version for OH + barbecue guests. Made some GF sandwiches to take for myself. Put a box of salad to one side with no dressing for me - didn't know if hostess would do salad ................... or if she'd drizzle it with 'some sort of dressing'.

    3. Phone call from DSis to say 'be ready for 12' - just about made it. Opened front door as she rang to say 'outside now' :D.

    4. Smooth journey to N.Wales and no traffic hold-ups :j.

    5. Lovely afternoon at DBro's new home. Realistically it's his Dg/f's home, but as they're now engaged and he's moved in permanently, it's his home too now. Good food / good company / great banter with 2DSis's and DBro and 2DBil's ................. lots of ancient reminiscing going on. 'Middle Sis' had 2 ruptured aneurysms just before last Christmas (another 3 still lurking), so we've not had this kind of get-together for a long time - such a blessing to still have her around :T

    6. DNiece there as well with her b/f and 2 beautiful little boys - we all played 'catch the crawler' as the youngest explored his way around the garden. The children are Elijah and Isaac, so we've told her that their branch of the family will be known as 'The Dingles' in future ;)!
  • Mushrooms on toast. Gawd no, no good without snorkers! Gordon Bennet!

V Just been to Ipswich for the funeral and wrap. Got hom,e via the car park and M4. BoPsie is still with cold, as expressed earlier.

    PM2DD Don't say a word!

Having one today! Was at the emporium w8rs and partners this day. How are some people able to buy up so much muppet food. One in from bought nothing an spent a good £135 on evil products. I managed to move some away from childrens height.

No doubt there will be more tomorrow!

    1) went to the garden centre with mum. haven't seen her since she got back from London / Venice. We started with tea and scones, courtesy of my birthday treat for being member of GC club (i know, a month late)
    2) then we wandered round, before returning for a coffee, courtesy of her GC club card (we get 2 'free' cups per month, the free being cos the club does cost a little)
    3) then off to buy wall flowers for her pots and back home to find my washing was dry yippee
    4) lovely walk with mrpiano and the boys up balgay. the leaves are turning and the air has that lovely autumnal freshness
    5) then yummy butternut squash and coconut soup for tea that i made yesterday.

  • For yesterday

1 A lovely day we ambled around local shops we purchased animal treats and a thermal pair of fleece lined leggings from B and M.
2 We stopped in at the garden centre and for the first time in years we purchased a few plants, to be potted up in the front standing in a colourful tray in the kitchen.
3 I got in to realise I’d forgotten milk so had to pop back out again, but also picked up some very reduced meat for the freezer some chicken meals and casserole steak pieces, the freezer is happy.
4 We snacked rather than big food.
5 We went looking around kitchens today and decided we don’t want a Wickes one.

    For today
1 A lay in and a bacon roll.
2 Spent a very long while digging the front garden, using inherited pots and potted up yesterdays garden mums out the front it looks lovely with a splash of colour, potted 2 more of yesterdays plants, and planted 25 bulbs along the front wall.
3 Prepared leftovers into hunter’s chicken topped with cheese and side of cabbage.
    4 Defrosting a mince pie.

Not a pleasure one of the animals and a squirrel had a falling out! Now I have a feeling very sorry for herself little Poppet ferret, she will be off to the vets now for a check up / antibiotics tomorrow as she’s been bitten just under her eye.

    Bedtime.

    Nice day. Sunshine and showers.

Blooming dog up through the night.

Nice chat with DD1, back from her travels but out on a picnic with friends. Face time with her and GN

Her and I went a lovely walk with Haggis. Found a few of the last brambles. She was very good at spotting them. She is such a chatterbox.

Then we went down to our castle , through our woods where there was a harvest festival on. Lots of scarecrows and stalls. Lovely in the sun and then it poured. Nice chat with a lady who has a son in Melbourne ...we met at the local honey stall and got chatting.

    Home...they drove I walked!

Dropped a bag of clothes in clothes bank and a bag of DVD at book stall in Tesco.

May have had a snoozette...it's been a while!

Popped into see a friend and had very lovely doggy cuddles.

Made a very lovely pasta dish for tea.

Quick last dog walk and star filled sky.

    Pleasures for today (Sunday).

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Worked on the allotment with the hens, digging the bits that had been under large sheets of cardboard over the summer.

    3) Bigger son went out on his motorbike with his friends including up the Clee Hill and to a motorbike caf!.

    4) Had roast gammon etc for tea.

    5) A pleasure is the sturdiness of bigger son's motorbike helmet and gloves - now scratched and battered following his friend accidentally running into his back wheel... bike is also dented and will need straightening out :-( Luckily they were only doing 35mph at the time as they were just coming out of the next village. A helpful man ran to their assistance. Bigger son in bed with a hwb, feels very cold and nauseated and he bumped his elbows and head and sprained one wrist. (His bad ankle is much improved!!)

    6) Have been catching up on TV - Casualty, Gardeners World and Celebrity Island.
