Morning all.
Great photos, Frith.
Woke up this morning after a dream of a very ex-boyfriend from many, many years ago. Don't often remember my dreams but this seems to be hanging around and I'm feeling a bit discombobulated, no way I ever give him a minute's thought so where on earth did that come from? Told hubby in an attempt to 'break the dream' but he just laughed and said is he any good at cleaning shower screens (that will make sense if you manage to get as far as pleasure 5).
Some quick pleasures:
1) Hugs from big grandson who used to curl up on my knee but now towers over me. Found him watching telly stretched out on the settee from which he informed me that 'Reading Week' meant he was reading the subtitles. Lovely to have him back albeit briefly.
2) Middle grandson meandered in asking for face cream for his dry face. He's a bit into 'products' and expensive smellies so left clutching a tube of Cleanse and Polish, a muslin cloth and a tub of moisturiser after we'd had a play at doing a mini facial. Told me I had very good skin for an old lady (!).
3) Little grandson won 'Star of the Week' at school so got to have hot chocolate with the headmistress. As it was Pyjama Day the photo came back from school of the pair of them in their jammies holding their mugs of hot chocolate. No wonder he loves school, I don't remember it being like that in our day! Also another fiver in his bank towards his car from us. Told him he is costing me a fortune and can he do a bit less well, seems not......
4) Plasterers caught us a bit on the hop by arriving a day early due to a cancellation. Fortunately all was just about ready for them so by tomorrow the soon-to-be-lounge will be plastered. Boiler service also being done so 'son's side' is a bit overrun. I've scuttled back to the relative calm in here.
5) The big clean up is underway in readiness for us hosting the family 'Christmas do' next weekend. The only pleasureable part of the cleaning process is that by next Friday the house and every nook and cranny in it will have been scoured and scrubbed and will not need doing again for a very long time. Doubt anybody will be inspecting the runners on my bedside cabinet drawers but by then they will be more than welcome to do so.
To further develop my ability to procranstinate I'm just about to make a coffee and then had better get cracking, the thinking about doing is sometimes worse than the doing.
Have a good day whatever you are up to.7 -
Hello! Me and my hot water bottle are in bed! Tis chilly!Another very early wake up.Was waiting on a text to say ‘we’ll be here between…’ but it didn’t come till afternoon which was a tad annoying as I could have been out and about in the morning. But they were nice chaps and when the heard dogs name they were like …we’ve been here before!Anyway they came and took old dresser away and brought me a lovely vintage pine sideboard. And a new chair that’s in a temporary place for now!Chat to friend this morning and chat to sister at lunchtime. And lovely chat to colleague/friend.Hoovered upstairs. Cleaned my bathroom. And finally got round to filling vacuum storage bags with caravan stuff….so all the air sooked out and stashed in the airing cupboard till spring time …and suddenly the piles have gone! When furniture arrived it meant I could put all the stuff that had been plonked on various surfaces away! Hurrah! When I’d came down this morning and had forgotten the mess!Doggy on chicken and rice and seems better but not quite fully right. But better is enough. All tidied up again and a big sigh! Then lit the log burner and sat and enjoyed the heat as it’s rather chilly.Just been out and admired the stars. I do like to see the stars if I can each night. In touch with the families I’m working with and just printed off next service.8

Frith amazing photos
A busy day I popped on new bedding we picked up from Dunelm which looks lovely and is super soft. By the way the dunelm café was amazing, a milk hot chocolate and a gluten free mince pie later we were happy to spend a few pennies.
I re mopped the house after a ferret was sick most places, the fuzzy is okay I hasten to add at 4 years and he still hasn’t learned not to gulp it down. I also needed to change their fleece bedding and of course the wash load that goes with these things.
A bit of tidying but I couldn’t get it all done.
A chop and veggies was dinner tonight.

Happy Birthday PK 🎉
For yesterday,
A bitterly cold day so new, improved heating very much appreciated.
Visit to the emporium and a compliment made to a lady who had on some cheery, sparkly tights.
On to the nursery in the village and picked up some more fleece to protect my broad beans.
With my horse, she had been in again due to soggy paddocks so I grazed her in hand for an hour by which time she was satiated and I couldn’t feel my fingers & toes!
Caught up with the Sara Cox documentary and a tear or two shed then an early night ahead of an alarm set for the start of the Ashes, as I type the game is swinging to and from with our bowlers on top form, not so our batsmen!7 -
Up early.
Had a lovely birthday FaceTime with DD1. As she was blowing out her candles on her birthday cake we sang happy birthday! Was nice.
Went to CP and had a lovely walk. Doggy feeling better.
Home and just kind of pottered around.Log burner on.Little bit of work this afternoon. And an eclectic chucking in the pan of some vegetables and tomatoes with some tagliatelle. Was nice enough!7 -
For yesterday,
Texting with family re the Ashes, we do love our cricket.
Drive over to nearby equestrian store to get a couple of small presents and use up some loyalty points, only the road was blocked due to accident in the fog so diverted round through Suffolk countryside, a burst pipe made for a please dont stall Mr Mini through bit of a flood but finally made it and purchases made.
Got to the yard, looked out to the paddocks and there was my girl, rugged up but dozing in the now sunshine, aww.Afternoon at home, bit of gardening and lots of book reading.
Clear night made for plenty of star-gazing during doggie’s late night visit to the garden.6 -
Your pleasures are so idyllic Lainey I would love to start horse riding again but in late 50’s I don’t think I would bounce so well if I fell off! Love the tales of star gazing & new doggie
Edit to be fair I love all the posts on here and still read along since I stopped posting when mum passed away 7 years ago. I think all my pleasures are central heating and food related 🤭❤️Mum 2018

To be honest I don’t really ride much anymore SYA as my arthritic hands aren’t really up to the job nowadays but spending time with my horse grounds me like nothing else and we both enjoy the other bits of work we do.Skint_yet_Again said:Your pleasures are so idyllic Lainey I would love to start horse riding again but in late 50’s I don’t think I would bounce so well if I fell off! Is there a RDA centre near to you that could use a volunteer, would at least get you some horsey time?7
