For yesterday,
Driving into horsey town and scraping sound coming from car 🙈 home, looked underneath and there was some twigs caught, much stretching meant I finally managed to reach and pull them out.Back out to town to drop off two horse rugs to be cleaned and one mended, then picked up some more of C dog’s medication.
Long chat with my bf.
Over to see my pony, horse ownership isn’t for the faint hearted during the winter what with muddy legs, cold etc and today just had enough energy to settle her in for the night.
Tea was chicken and roasted veg.6 -
Can feel your relief, Lainey. Have had similar on current jaunt, which is very nicely and unexpectedly self-extending.😁
1. Dg and such relief. & did leave bank card here
yesterday. Such a good place, such good people 2. Really enjoying exploring Gloucester, shortly to Gloucester Cathedral for evening prayer.
3. Again, marked kindness from same p+r bus driver as yesterday to a number of us newbies.
4. Thermos refilled, from same Smiles Café,of course.😀

5. Another sunny day and much walking, quiet chatting and just now, a bookmark presented to me in Gloucester library by toddler I recognise from yesterday. During another walk, she watched me eating an apple then gave me her water.😃

Hello. Just shut the night out. Been a very cold but bright sunny day.
Up early. And out early. Had to scrape car and head off early to avoid the school /rush hour traffic. Lovely drive down. Fields all white with frost against a blue sky.A lovely service this morning. And I was very kindly given a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a card with such lovely words.
Then a couple of hours with much chatter. Dropped in to see two different sets of work peoples. Then into old work for some paint. Then met a friend as I was heading back to car. Chat to sister then DD2 called. No wonder I went upstairs for a snoozette!Caught up on Monday night stuff. And that’s about it. Need to prep work folder for tomorrow’s service. And an early night shall beckon.7 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Got back from holiday yesterday evening so had a good slerp. Nice to see the ancient cat again.
2) Went to the launderette and did all the holiday washing plus smaller son's bedding. Always surprises me that it washes and dries in an hour.
3) Had a soft tyre (down to 8psi) that would not inflate properly so I went back to the garage where I got 3 tyres for the MOT. They couldn't find a puncture but took the tyre off and filed the wheel rims smooth. It has stayed up since.
4) Sainsbury's order at 9.30 as we had used up all the food before we went away.
5) Cleaned the washing machine and dishwasher.
6) Caught up with HIGNFY.
7) Updated the holiday book. We've had it for years and it is like a diary with travel tickets and receipts stuck in.
8) Traybake for tea.
9) Listening to the football commentary now with the cat.7 -
goodness 2 weeks since my last post. i have now caught up - belated birthday greetings pk lovely photographs ampers and frith sorry to miss you in Amsterdam!
1) playing accordion to accompany 2 colleagues demonstrating gay gordons to our Thai students (and tasting the lovely Thai food they had brought to the bring and share). I happened to have a 12 button accordion in a suitcase in my office as I was headed off to Amsterdam next day and DD1 had asked for it
2) spending a wonderful evening with dd2 who is staying just 10 mins bus ride from Edinburgh Airport so i stayed over rather than having to get up horribly early at Dundee and fret about the bus
3) then a super 4 days with dd1 in the Netherlands. We did lots and now it all seems like a dream but a very nice dream
4) just getting the 22:30 bus home to Dundee (the flight was due in 22:00 and 10 mins late but fortunately I was in row 6, there was no flight in front of us for passport control and, once through, I legged it!)
5) nice day today catching up with mum, long soak in the bath, shopping for shortbread for Thailand then tea shop with gbf then of course footie with DrM and Mr G.
and tomorrow is workety work.20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5006 -
For yesterday,
Sitting at the breakfast table and seeing the sun rising through the beech trees.A bit of self care with a manicure & pedicure.
The vet phoned with results of latest ear swabs for C dog, happy to say that there is no longer any sign of infection and we can now reduce the cleaning and steroid spray to just two times per week plus reduce the daily steroid meds, Woohoo! It’s been a long old process and due to old scarring & calcification we will always need to be careful but so happy for our girl.
Meanwhile my other girlie was in a right stroppy mood and dragged me in from the field, sometimes she mithers to be out but once out just wants to be in again, in her nice big stable with a hay net!
Tea was baked spuds with bean chilli, warming stuff.6 -
Morning all.
A quick dropping in just to touch base, will catch up on everyone's pleasures soon.
A not so good week for us with 3 bereavements - not in the family but close and all expected but sooner than we had thought. Saddest was middle grandson's best friend from senior school, just 17, so supporting grandson as best we can.
Otherwise, much reflecting and taking pleasure from quiet home comforts.
Hope you have a good day whatever you are up to.

Hello.Dark and wet today.
Up early and we went down to CP as soon as it was light. Beautiful sunrise. Think we got the best bit of the day.Saw deer. In the field 2 fields away from where we walk. Then as I got back to carpark there were 2 so close by in the woodlands. I could see them so clearly. We just watched each other. And one of the red kites swooped out a tree and over the big house. Just all a bit special this morning. And home and time for breakfast then time to get ready for work.Work call for a new service.Parked at town supermarket and walked down the hill ( in the rain…with my work shoes in a bag or I’d have had very wet feet!)
Lovely family to work with today. Then went in to town. Popped in to two charity shops and managed to get two ‘festive ‘ jumpers…that weren’t all pooky and bobbly. A miracle! A pair of jeans and a pair of work trousers.
Quick nip into M&S for something for late lunch/tea. Then the big hike back up the hill. Got petrol before I left supermarket and headed home. With a hello doggy. I am in and I’m putting my jammies on…and the heating. Quick chat to sister. And that’s me calling it a day! Going to have an early night, not necessarily to sleep just now but hot water bottle filled and a bed beckons.5 -
going back to work to 480 unopened emails not a pleasure. managed to get them down to 78. emails are definitely not an mse pleasure but
1) not opening my emails over my holiday
2) lovely lunch brought in by one of my thai students
3) choir rehearsal for our Christmas concert
4) slipping into the Tower to heat up my 'lunch' for supper - it was yummy
5) footie with DrM and MrG - Arsenal are playing superbly well - one of my cousins is a gunner, her brother supports Liverpool who of course are not doing so well...20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5005 -
For yesterday,
A morning of errands, over to BuryStEds to pick up a bag of chaff and a bag of balancer for horse, on to another shop to pick up new, orthopaedic bed for C dog.
On to the yard, tested muscles by lifting 12kg feed bags to hay barn and emptying them into feed bins. Then wellies on and out to the field to see my girl, cold but sunny and she was comfy in her rug. Got frisked for carrots & treats then replenished her field hay net as there’s not much grass left, she should be going onto her second paddock in the new year.
Home and Capt S was wfh so lunch together.
Removed the cage that C dog has been sleeping in at night and replaced with new bed, she’s been with us 4 months now and the rescue said a cage is a good idea to start with as it makes them feel secure. Think we are past that now ☺️ so a proper bed it is. She had her blanket and her Marvin the Moose soft toy so soon felt at home.
Watching Shetland and not falling asleep so understand what’s happening!6
