5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

For yesterday,
A chilly walk with C dog first thing, think we were both grateful to get back to a warm house.
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Trip out to the local pet store to get a waterproof coat for our pal, unlike my choccie lab she hates getting wet and several times last week she did a mad dash outside for a very quick wee! We obviously took her to try things on and she met several friendly dogs including a Goldenpoo who was just about the prettiest dog I’ve ever seen. C dog tried a few free food samples and generally had a fine old time.
Made a cake, same one as Amps shared a few weeks back, a quick fruit one that used mincemeat, very yum.
Paul, Bob and Ted, such a gentle but funny finish to the weekend.5 -
Morning all.
Happycas - you made me laugh, I spent a year being older than I actually was so the next birthday when I 'stayed the same' was a lovely surprise! I'm ok with the birthdays with a 0 or even a 5 in them but get a bit jumbled with the ones inbetween. Bit like I'm ok with Monday and Friday but the days in between can sort of blur together. Some fabulous gardens in Cornwall - Trebah and Trelissick among our favourites, you'll have a lovely trip.
Recent pleasures:
1) Lovely sunshine for us but really feel for those affected by the terrible floods.
2) Had a lovely steady away sort of weekend, didn't go anywhere or do anything exciting, very 'Monday tea' - just right. The 'not a pleasure' bit of that was the phone call to say my ENT appointment on Sunday had been cancelled due to industrial action and will be rescheduled at a later date.
3) Hubby back at the dentist in Uni city today and is picking eldest grandson up and bringing him back for a reading week. Looking forward to seeing him and he has booked us to take him back next weekend too!
4) Clearing space in the freezers so a lovely tea of several curries, pilau rice and naan breads. Totally stuffed and still full this morning. Yummy leftovers for tea tonight so no cooking today.
5) A lazy start to the week for me, home alone til hubby gets back so just poodling and pottering. Some shopping to do this afternoon so will have a pit stop for tea and cake just because it's Monday and deserves to be celebrated!
Wishing a pleasurable day to all.

Hello…hurrah I’ve just found my iPad…was feeling a bit doolally as I couldn’t find it…downstairs loo…now if only I could also find the pair of specs I misplaced this morning!
Anyway up at silly o’clock and oh how cold it was (-3) so I would get up and put the heating on …only it didn’t so had to get dressed and go out into garage to re-pressure the boiler!Misplaced specs between getting ready and getting ready to put specs back on! But new ones were dropped off this morning and met a very handsome Labrador at the same time! So now need to get used to new prescriptions! Then it was out to work. New family to meet. Came home and wrote and wrote and sent that off. Then got text then a call about the one I wrote on Saturday so that’s been amended and is now finalised. It can sometimes get a bit ‘heavy’ in my head and I feel that tonight ( but could also be new specs and madly looking for iPad as well 😆) and whilst it’s not my grief it’s being with others who are so so sad with theirs. So fingers crossed a doggy walk at CP tomorrow morning…as snow is forecast I’ll just have to wait and see! It always clears my head being at CP
And grrrrrrr blooming warning light back on my car! So called and to go back in on Wednesday at flaming 8am. ( when forecast is -2o and I’ll need to scrape car ! And walk home! There will be an email being sent tomorrow. Fourth time it’s had to go in.Got some RTC flowers at supermarket where I parked my car whilst I was at work. And bought a cinnamon bun.Chat to sister. Then double glazing company came as I had the most awful howl in my windows when it’s windy and on Friday night it almost drove me insane…I was like a mad woman recording it! So there was a wee gap in some of the silicone. First words were ‘I thought you were moving?’ Nope! Anyway they have
re-siliconed all the windows. Doggy very happy to see them! And so blooming cold today…and for tonight so have left the heating on timer so if it needs to come on it will but certainly don’t need it on all night…I’d maybe melt!6 -
For yesterday,
The temperature had really dropped so out came a scarf & gloves to run my errands.
Shopping and two more bits for Yule popped into the trolley, this time cherries in kirsch ( for trifle) and piccalilli as the posh one we like was on special offer.
Made a loaf and did a general tidy.
Over to see my big girl, the hay was being delivered and she had to walk past the big lorry to have her feet washed, there were a few worried snorts but with Mum in between her and the scary monster it was ok.
Big dish of comfort food for tea, butternut squash macaroni cheese.6 -
Quiet day. Not feeling 100% so have just spent the day quietly. And dog was happy to just snuggle on sofa too! We’ve had all the weather! Rain. Sun. Rainbows. Heavy rain. Soft rain. Bit milder then freezing cold again!Hopefully feel better tomorrow!8

I spent a while dragging the house into a bit of shape.
Spent an hour or so, doing a lot in the greenhouse and garden, moving pots about, and tidying up, and moved all of the front garden pots back and one to the greenhouse to try and over winter but I don’t hold any hope for it.
I was about to make build your own wraps, when I realised, I had no filling to build your own with, so it was a very lazy slice of pizza from freezer to oven.

For yesterday,
Put a podcast on and tackled the bathrooms, with all the heating problems, engineer visits etc they hadn’t had a good clean for a couple of weeks, as always the pleasure is when it’s done.
A good amount of sunshine so several of my Pelargoniums were tucked away for the winter.
My animals, big girlie was tucked away in her warm stable with an extra fluffy bed and then C dog had her latest check up at the V E T S.
LOD is coming back for another series!
Watched and thoroughly enjoyed the Scotland game, fantastic goals and such support, can see TT’s point of view re the quietness of Wembley at times when faced with such vocal fans, brilliant.6 -
Felt much better today, thankfully.
although wide awake from the back of 3am…we went our doggy walk at 4.20am…just us and the gritter lorry! Even the birds were sensibly sleeping! Then had to take car back to flaming garage at 8am. I walked in to town and had some very nice toast and jam. And then headed down to the furniture charity shop. And purchased a sideboard and chair! Had seen it on FB and thought oooh I’ll have a look. And you have to be quick as things go very quickly and they don’t keep things for you nor can you pay on the phone. However sometimes they don’t look as nice in real life but these ones did and are being delivered tomorrow and they’ll take my dresser away. It was bought about 10 years in Melbourne and was old then ! I’ve loved it but wanted something new to me for a while.
And then DD2 had texted and said could I pop into M&S and grab her lunch and drop it off? Really…could you not have texted when I was actually in there? So did that…but I did not see the next text which was and could I pick up something for her colleague…so I out the goodness of my heart walked back again!Mooch round the other charity shops. Got a nice shawl /wrap which will be good when I’m sitting working. And another pair of jeans from the £1 rail! And a red short wide necked sweatshirt thingy! And a stripy polo neck which will be nice with the red thingy! And a metal wiry Christmas tree decoration doodah. And then oooft it was time to get a bus! Eek! But I only had to wait a few minutes and was at my bus stop at my end of town 8 minutes later so that was done relatively painlessly ( other than a grudged £3.40! )
Nice walk home on the sunny side of the street which was still an icy side of the street.Home& chat to sister. And then moved all the stuff ( and what a lot of stuff) out the dresser …currently everywhere else! Rolled the rug back. Moved the table and chairs and dragged the dresser out! So all hoovered and ready for tomorrow.
Doggy boy was very sick. Thankfully outside but poor thing. He’d obviously been feeling rotten and was in and out and in and out feeling unsettled then vomited. And I’ll need to be careful tomorrow as I had to hose which will freeze!Have hoovered downstairs and would venture upstairs but stairs are loaded with stuff from dresser and there’s a chair halfway over them too! It can wait till tomorrow!Got some washing out on the line as although it was cold there was a wee breeze. Rest went on the clothes horse. The car was delivered home…when I said to let me know in time as it’s a 45 minute walk I think the receptionist took pity! I seriously hope that’s it all sorted!
And that was my day…made up for yesterdays quiet!6 -
Not sure how to update from Sunday morning onwards, but here are some pleasures, in vaguely chronological order.
1) Bigger son drove us to Birmingham New St.
2) My neighbour has been very thorough in looking after the cat.
3) Crossing was incredibly rough (force 8 gale) so we had plenty of breakfast as the canteen was deserted! A helicopter had to drop some more staff off on the ship (we think it was something to do with more tug boats needed to get into the harbour). It was rolling so badly that we felt like the ground was still moving for hours after we got off the boat.
4) A quick look round Amsterdam and found a geocache.
5) Train to Hamburg ran later and later, until we missed our next train. Sent a £25 voucher immediately by Deutsche Bahn!
6) Watched German football match in the cafe area of our hotel.
7) From Hamburg to Copenhagen. We liked the station and Tivoli Gardens abd ate gyros.
8) Another train to Malmo, over the Oresund bridge.
9) Watched Scotland v Denmark on one tv in a bar showing the Sweden match on 10 televisions! A lone Danish man watched with us but walked out at the fourth Scottish goal!
10) Walked to the sea in Malmo and a lovely cafe on a pier.
11) The charity shops are enormous!
12) Looked round Malmo station.
13) Went to the food hall.
14) Looked at a few things from the outside as we walked back through heavy falling snow.
15) Went to the library.
16) Had a game of chess in the kitchen here.

Looks amazing Frith!
For yesterday,
Mini sort of the freezer and some thick ice thrown out onto the lawn, it’s still there 🥶
My lovely nephew arrived and we wrapped up warm before going over to see my horse, first time he had met her and was really quite smitten, especially when she swapped a kiss for a carrot. The horses were in due to the horrible weather but she had a thick bed,
plenty of hay and was snug as a bug in her rug.
Home and we had soup & cheese on toast to warm up. Then we had to say goodbye as he’s off on his travels for a year, as an early festive present we gave him a travel chess set as he’s a big player and it’s a great way to meet new people. Will miss him.
Sociable day as later a pal picked me up and we met three other friends for a catch up meal, lovely time and feeling blessed.
Capt S had popped a HWB in our bed so snuggled down to read my book for a bit.
