1. Lovely finds on charity bookshelf today - 1985 Wisden, 2 Persephone titles: Sally Carson's 'Crooked Cross' and Jocelyn Playfair's 'A House in the Country', plus 2 little Alison Uttley 1st Edns, 1958+1960, slightly crayoned covers😁 that & can sort.2. Young Remembrance Service children in good numbers held the 2 minutes' silence impeccably and laid their wreaths with words understood. &'s RNZAF pilot, killed over Thetford on 'secret prototype' flight, fully spoken of.
2. Little 1st birthday boy a very happy chappy on Saturday arvo, loved his bits and bobs all in lucky Nexus find Big Shark Cuddle Sac! A couple of Mummy and Daddy bits had found their way in too 😁
4. All Blacks didn't start playing properly until & arrived in the Alma, or so many said....late arriving from osp3, accepted as fair excuse.& arrived, put DMac on from bench and sorted everything out. 25-17, with merlot and onion rings, bien sûr.😁
....and osp 5 can be refuelling today, moments before price went up another 3p per litre! That's twice in the last fortnight!#
Likely nowhere day tomorrow. Sudden lurgy piling in since mid-afternoon. Voice now gone, weary achey weary since hairwash and hand laundry done this morning, pegged out and certainly much rained on in &'s absence.
Agreed Lainey, first stars last night and &'s first fireworks seen too, distantly, towards Huntingdon. & loves them.
Good train news Frith.
Oh, &'s fig tree after usual sudden leaves down. Loads still left, including high up ripe chaps missed by &-

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to art class. Not displeased with my work today.
3) A lady at art, who I presumed had always been married to her husband, suddenly told me about the moonlight flit they did, 50 years ago!
4) Survived another shift at work. The manager forgot to ask anyone to cover 2 shifts last week. Took me an hour to clean up. He did, however, say yes to my request to donate some food to the homeless day centre. (They gave our department tons of this new line of food, but forgot we have no way of heating it...)
5) Smaller son quite jolly today.
6) About to eat curry, made yesterday.
7) Just snapped the handle off my perfect, 1950s glazed Milk jug so I'll just have to do all the charity shops for a replacement.7 -

For yesterday,
Usual trip into horsey town for a food shop and coffee with pal.
Submitted our electricity meter reading which was gulp after using electric heaters while boiler out of action, pleasure was we had built up a decent credit balance.
Over to the yard as farrier coming for equine girlie, the rain then started and boy was it heavy so the first thing he did when he got to me was cancel his next visit which was due to take place out in a field! My girl was back to her usually well behaved self although a pocket full of treats helped.
Splashed home and was pleased to back indoors with a warming cup of tea.
Easy tea of baked spuds with some of the cold meat from the roast, then quiz night and I continued with my normal run of getting the first question on UC right.7 -
For Monday, I was up early and had an early optician appointment. Absolute sales pitch from the minute I arrived! It was very off putting and I’ve been going there last 8 years but never experienced that level of pushiness before…and I took my business elsewhere!Went to nearby charity shop (probably my favourite one in my town) and got…a lovely basket for a Swiss cheese plant. The people had literally just been in front of me lifting it out their boot to donate…oooh thought I , I like it! So went in and said to sales assistant…I know it’s just been donated but how much ? £3.00 please…and it’s got a plastic liner tray at the bottom so perfect for a plant! And a lovely jug that was made in Australia covered with pretty bees. And a pair of jeans for £2 in the sale rack.
Chat to DD1 in the supermarket car park!
Supermarket on way home…shouldn’t need to buy anything else this week. Food wise. ( she says!)
Home and hello doggy! It really wasn’t that long.Chat to sister.Did a little bit in the garden. I’ve set myself a list of to do’s for this week. And then had a visit from independent optical lady who brought her trays of bespectacled wares! And we had the loveliest of chatters. New specs purchased with a free pair of reading specs thrown in!For today. There was a low layer of red sunrise under all the grey sky this morning. We went out early…ostensibly to miss the heavy rain. We got drizzle but it wasn’t the torrential of later on.Went to CP and we had a lovely walk. Then I drove opposite direction to beach town. Lashing by this point.
Popped in to nieces work on the off chance she was working ( and so I could use the loo ) she wasn’t working so I was just heading back out and then this soaked person with her hood up walked in and we were both just looking at each other like ‘Is it really you? ‘ she wasn’t working and was going to go straight home after school drop off and thought I’ll head the opposite direction! Meant to be! So we sat for half an hour and had a lovely catch up! And then we had a wander round the charity shops next to her work. I got a lovely Mint Velvet roll neck poncho!Anyway a very rainy drive home. And put the log burner on when I got in and then hung washing up on clothes horse in front of it.Work call. So 2 new services booked in and family meetings arranged and paperwork organised. It’s such an odd job where you just have to wait for the phone to ring…and then it’s worked over a 2-3 week span. I’ve decided not to panic when I don’t have anything booked in and embrace the quiet…all of one day quiet and then 2 services booked in! ( and just as well as I’ve just bought new specs! )Started a new library book and sat in front of fire and enjoyed that.Sausage rolls and beans for tea.Chat to friend and chat to DD2.5 -
Hope you feel better soon Ampersand
That clean bedding feeling for us later.
I cooked up a from the freezer, and I’ve turned it into a bolognaise / chilli base, tonight it is a bowl of chilli. I also discovered leftover Christmas cupcakes in the freezer I was getting ready to give it to the foxes, just halving it now much to DH’s dismay.
I have another bag of “stuff” I’m sorting out at least, I mean what do I want with a school “record of achievement” thing.
Popped to Aldi and picked up the basics.

I was at Murrayfield cheering on the home side @ampersand - very exciting second half
As others have already said stunning painting @Frith
1) The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance - very thought provoking, glorifying war it did not.
2) Beautiful Remembrance service at the cathedral - we sang a Aston's So they gave their bodies for the commonwealth for the anthem
3) went shopping with DD2 and noticed I'd got dirt on my white shirt - she was dropping me off at the pub for the footie - the lads wouldn't have noticed but I would have felt self-conscious. I hate clothes shopping whereas DD2 would make an excellent personal shopper - result was a beautiful blouse, white with blue stripes, which fits to perfection, is comfortable and smart.
4) Came home and ordered 7 more (red, mustard, 2 in black as Thailand is in mourning and we are encouraged to wear black, cream, pink, burgundy (will be good for evenings) - and she has a 15% off H&M membership card and delivery free - I reckon that little haul will see me through to retirement! 2 people have already admired the one I already have.
5) Another run at lunch time, just one colleague today so we had a very good one-to-one update as we trundled along. it was raining and I've just listened to the Just one thing being out in the rain.20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5006 -
1. Had to be out this arvo., but now looking forward to bed, meds, hwb.
2.🤞that new meds work.
3. Tonight's rain will have re-rinsed today's laundry, but it's also good for it. Just so long as one particular All Blacks shirt is dry for Saturday.😁 Kia Kaha Arohanui!
4. Brand new £1 trainers from Nexus are perfect!
5. Excellent lower than half-price Schloer rosé was only £1.50 in Food Warehouse, with further 10% off for discount Tuesday. & had last 2 bottles👌
