Good morning. Grey!! Just had an Amazon order delivered at 7 am!!. I was up of course. Was looking at my phone and a message flashed up saying ' Delivered '. And there it was, by the front door!
Had a very painful achy week. Arthritis? Rheumatism? Who knows. But it hurt. A lot. Managed the week with painkillers and lots of rest and today feels a lot easier. Hopefully gone away and left me with my usual aches and pains, which seem not too bad in comparison.
Despite that it's been a good week including :
DGD 17th birthday. She seems to be recovering well from her operation in August. Enjoying college, music, shopping with friends, just being a teenager. It's a delight to see.
And the next day was my birthday. Lots of lovely cards and gifts and lunch out. I felt very spoilt.
Been nice enough to do some gardening too. I managed to plant up the big trough outside the patio door by doing a bit a day. It looks lovely now with tall feathery grasses, Christmas roses and bright yellow polyanthus. OH filled the green bin with prunings and leaves. Only one more collection to go this year so making sure its full every time.
Watching Celebrity Traitors. Tried the ordinary one a while ago and couldn't get on with it. Too much whooping and OMG. But gave this series a go and got hooked. My favourite is Joe Marler ( never even heard of him before!)
Went to DGS football yesterday. Early kick off so well wrapped up. By half time the sun was out and I had to shed hat, scarf and gloves and unzip my coat. Not complaining about that though.
Busy week ahead, plus playing catch-up with all the chores I didn't do last week so best make a start.
Happy new week everyone

For yesterday,
Breakfast and then out in the garden, nice in the sunshine. Finally cleared the tomato plants with a swift thank you for so much tasty fruit, thought all the apples were now gone so removed the Cdog proof fencing and blow me if she didn’t immediately find a rogue windfall amongst the leaves!
The house smelt good as the pork joint cooked and at least the kitchen was warm.
Sat down after lunch and did my few bits of mending, a seam on one of beloved’s jumpers plus three pairs of my thick wool socks, still using the wool kindly given a few years back by Amps.
Afternoon walk in last of the sunshine and the moon was already rising.
Watching the series finale of ACGAS and singing along to I Vow to thee My Country, as a child I lived in Thaxted, home of G Holst, and we sang it a lot at school.

Have just bought another jar of mincemeat, =2 more cakey gifts. Emporium mincemeat, 500gm jars, are 15p cheaper than MrT's 411gm jars - yes, it IS a peculiar amount.
4. Continuing 2hrs later after happy long chatty call(has never really been an & thing)with older CS friend, still recovering from several painful mole removals. Much laughter.5. Tkt booked for next FML talk with another excellent speaker - History of the Stockton to Darlington Railway. Ever since hearing of this great bucket list journey, easily +50 years ago, & knows it's more likely to happen after this talk.😁#All blessings - and glad that wool is still Minding The Gaps, Lainey😁.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

1) the joy of singing - yesterday rehearsal then morning service then back at 3:30 for another rehearsal followed by requiem mass for All Souls Day.
2) the joy of playing the piano - called in at Oxfam and bought a couple of books - one for sightreading, the other (Schubert) will definitely take more work
3) my favourite pub - had forgotten to tell the lads there was an evening service so made it for the last 5 minutes of the game!
4) working at home (though didn't get as much done as i'd hoped - c'est la vie)
5) a good piano lesson - Debussy and Mendelssohn - still lots of mistakes but Dr Gradus and the Scherzo are definitely getting faster and now onto Mendelssohn songs without words. Lots to practise :-)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Oh that recipe looks good Amps, I still have an unopened jar of Mincemeat from last year’s post festive reductions.
For yesterday,
Looks like we will get a new boiler fitted next Tuesday, meanwhile this week’s forecasted mild temps are very much welcome.
A trip into horsey town and a coffee with my friend.
Long chat with my Uncle, have been meaning to ring him for a while and good to catch up although he is facing some nasty treatment for PC but tentative plans made to see him once finished.
Fetched my pony in and the mud wasn’t too bad, saw physio friend who was at previous yard and managed a quick catch up.
The utter joy that is the Bob & Paul fishing programme, apart from the banter and Ted of course I just love the wonderful scenery, this time from Wales.3 -
Morning all.
Just popping on to say what wonderful news about your granddaughter, Happycas, lovely to hear how well she has recovered from her surgery just a few months ago. Belated birthday wishes to you both.
Quick pleasures:
1) Lovely mild and sunny weather is putting the year on nicely.
2) Not liking all the Christmas tat already around but, oh, the pleasure of reaching once again for my well-thumbed C/Chronicles. Hello, old friend.
3) Celebrated middle grandson's 18th yesterday, he's grown into a lovely young man and one I'm very proud of.
4) Starting to think about making plans for the family get-together at the end of this month. So far only at the list stage but it's a start.
5) Maybe just a northern tradition but up here the night before bonfire night was always Mischief Night - lots of pretty harmless stuff, knocking on doors and running away sort of thing, but part of our childhood and good to remember. We used to do apple bobbing and so on on Hallowe'en but I suppose 'trick or treating' has maybe taken over now. Anyway, there is pleasure in the remembering, always find November quite a nostalgic month.
Got the house to myself this morning so might run amok and cause my own mischief, who knows...
Have a good day, folks.3 -
Hello. We have came upstairs early again as blooming big fireworks are going off and doggy is stressed.Anyway up early. We have silly blooming roadworks nearby that are causing rush hour chaos so waited till that time was past and went down to CP. Had a nice walk. As I was driving up the long driveway a flash of colour and 2 grouse sitting on a hedge. Had hoped to catch a photo on the way down but missed that opportunity but did see a few of them in the field. Saw a couple of squirrels. Most of the leaves are off the trees and the new river was gone as if it was never there! Was mild in a damp kind of way. That’s the water now switched off so no more dishes to wash so no cooking and no toilet to use so no staying! Took the big bottle of water that had been left in the lodge we had stayed in in September down, so that shall be my fill up with water for dog, bottle!Nice drive home. Sun had popped out.Chat to sister. Then a work phone call to this weeks family and then printed off the service.Went over to DD2 to collect a Pup. She came here for tea after her work.Made mince and tatties for first time in ages. With peas , carrots and broccoli. And just waiting for GBBO final. It’s been a really good series.3
