Epic post as always DFV
How frustrating re proposed purchase PaulieH but pleased you have found some temporary accommodation.
For yesterday,
A seemingly mild morning but the yard is in a micro-climate all of its own and it was chilly there so happy I picked up a jacket.
My lovely friend who met me there wasn’t so prepared so after a quick hello to the beautiful grey one we hopped in the mini and headed off to horsey town for a brunch & catch up in the cafe at the Racing Museum. Despite already having had a slice of toast at 7.30 I managed to tuck away poached eggs and avocado on yet more toast!
Stopped at the emporium on way home, picked up a few bits plus my free treat which was a box of their posh mince pies.
Lazy afternoon reading but did order an early Yule present for my nephew who leaves for his travels on December 1st.
The moon very atmospheric behind some cloud, as always a photo didn’t do justice.7 -
Another post disappeared.
Might rewrite tomorrow.
I'll add that I've just had an email from Dame Joan Bakewell, about my dealings with Faith to Faithless.5 -
Good morning.
Friday we were up and out early to make time to have a nice doggy walk/doggy run/doggy saunter. Then I had work in the afternoon. A lovely service and lovely words later on from the family. But blooming fireworks were going off later and once again a very stressed doggy.Saturday.Went to garden centre with DD2 for a scone. Bought kindling. We then stopped off at retail park on way home. Got some nice soap in a festive scent for my festive guests.Made appointment for eye test at opticians as we were passing,
Popped into charity shop. Bought a nice lamp (more for the base than the shade) and a pair of jeans. And home …just in time for doggy lunch I thought…then found an empty bag of dog food ( one portions worth) so dog had already sneaked his lunch and looked suitably caught out! ( I had taken a bag as I was going to pick up pup after we had been out walking the other day but Pup was returned home by his doggy walker earlier than I had anticipated so my doggy didn’t need fed at that point!…so bag of dog food was still in my bag!Did a bit of garden tidying and chopping,
Started a library book.
And another early night upstairs as blooming fireworks still being set off!6 -
For yesterday,
Slept well for a change surprising what a difference it makes.
Busy morning catching up on chores and made a loaf for the weekend.
Over to see my horse and she’d obviously had a good roll but the mud had dried so quite easy to get off. We did a few more Pilates stretches and she’s catching on quick that there may be a treat at completion. The arthritis in my hands means that I struggle now with riding at times ( they were bad today) but this is a way of keeping her supple & strong. When we had finished she had some hay and I sat on my grooming box next to her to listen to the end of my podcast. I’ve done this ever since we’ve been together and, apart from bits of hay dropped into my hair, I’m quite safe as she’s so gentle with me at her feet.
Hungry when I got back so early tea of snorkers and beans with a slice of fresh bread.
HWB’S to bed with us as the skies had cleared and it was chilly, heard the owl again when C dog went out for her last meander around the garden. Which reminds me, there is a bright planet near the moon at the moment and need to look up which one it is.6 -
Morning all.
Cold and grey today after lots of lovely sunshine. An indoors day of sorting and pottering.
Paulie - best to take time and get it right, at least moving out saves your sale and gives you some space to make the right decision. We spent a summer many years ago in our caravan in a friend's garden with all our stuff in storage so as not to lose our buyers when our sellers' new housebuild was delaying things.
Recent pleasures and happenings:
1) Was sat a couple of days ago on my laptop, reading the news with a coffee, when suddeny there was a clattering sort of noise. Looked up and there was a bird inside the room battering on the french doors to get out. It could only have come in through the small side window that was ajar. I have a bit of a phobia about anything that flies - birds, butterflies, bats - and at such close proximity I'm not sure which of us was most in a panic! Luckily son was working at home so I ran through and shouted and he came and sorted it. Phew! Have viewed open windows warily ever since...
2) Poor hubby has a tooth abscess, his face right up to his eye very swollen. Emergency dental appointment and antibiotics have helped somewhat but he has to have the tooth removed on Monday. He will drop me at my dentist for my two hour microsurgery thing, go and get his tooth out at his dentist and then come back for me. Soup for tea for both of us methinks.
3) As a result of his heart monitor test thing, brother needs an ECG and his wife has an appointment about a possible knee replacement. We all agreed it's a good job we are retired as no way could we fit work round all our medical and dental requirements and appointments.
4) Ordered a couple of tops to try for our family get-together at the end of the month, neither of which looked anything like so I have raked through my wardrobe and found some possibles which I much prefer but have been seen many times. And now will be seen again!
5) Home alone today as hubby is setbuilding for the play next week and won't be back until after the technical rehearsal tonight. I should be using the time getting organised and doing cleaning but am sat here in my dressing gown sporting a hair mask thing under a shower cap and a face pack, drinking coffee and 'talking' to you and reading the papers online. It seems my inner sloth surfaces when I am left to my own devices. I'll sort some piles of stuff that have accumulated later on so I don't feel quite so lazy, or I might watch a few more episodes of the 'old' Forsyte Saga. Hmmmm...
Right, into the shower to wash this lot off and then will decide what to do next. Oh, the excitement!
Hope you have a good day, whatever you are up to.

Good afternoon. Lovely sunny morning but I pegged washing out so that put paid to that. Now back to grey! My very Methodist grandma would say it served me right for pegging out washing on a Sunday. I should be reading my bible quietly. Or maybe a little sewing.
DFV - thank you for your wonderful post. It would take me all week to type all that!
Paulie - it seems like a good idea to move to the area where you want to buy. We haven't moved in 50 years, and the more I read about the potential difficulties, the less I want to try. I hope all gets sorted soon x
Recently
Watched The Traitors final. Have really enjoyed this series.
DH had a CT scan at a new unit. Not at our usual hospital but another one about 10 miles away. However, unlike ours, there's plenty of parking spaces so it's almost worth the drive. And the new unit was very quick and efficient.
Tried a new recipe last night - mango chicken from a Mary Berry book I got on Kindle. It was very good! Nice to have something different.
Got a bit of an idea to sort out photos of Christmas when DD and DS were little to make some sort of album as a Christmas present each. Not quite formulated yet but I do like the idea.
One embroidered heart finished and in situ and one almost done. I'm quite pleased with them so may do some more for Christmas presents. Not like me to think so far ahead.
Lazy afternoon looking through photos for me.
Happy Sunday everyone

2) Stewed a whole box of windfall apples.
3) Cooked 2 curries.
4) Moved the rest of the holly tree trimmings.
5) Went out for a cup of tea with smaller son.
6) In all the holiday planning, I had accidentally booked the train back from Germany to the ferry too late in the day. Non refundable.
Just had an email from DB that they have scheduling problems so we can use our tickets at any time!6 -
PaulieHerts, how frustrating
Mhags I do love a daily list to tick off.
A few days absent as I had a worse than cold but not flu that knocked me down a few days but pretty much back up now, and touch wood so far no one else has had it.
Ack fireworks again, but all the ferrets are inside, and we have music playing up and down stairs.
I popped up to pick some olio goodies, stashed away.
Dinner was chicken parcels and baby carrots and parsnips.
Engrossed in my book and resisted Amazons kindle things as my physical to be read pile well is very ambitious

For yesterday,
A bright sunny start and early morning cuddles with C dog.
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Long walk around the fields, warm in the sunshine and a satisfyingly large amount of leaves to kick through.
After over 3 months with us C dog is getting used to the routines and knows that on Sundays at home she will get a roast dinner as well so there was a lot of bouncing up and down when she smelt the chicken starting to roast.
A few games of Yahtzee and much book reading.7
