Congratulations Auntie Frith 🎉
For yesterday,
A day with no heating engineers was nice but would have swapped that for a working system!
Did go into horsey town and visited the emporium, picked up a few bits including my latest treat of free biscuits.
Capt S came home with takeaway coffees and a slice of brownie to share.
Chat with my nephew and arrangements made to meet up next week.
Chilli and a baked spuds for tea, watched a bit of the footie but bit boring so sandwiched the latest episode of Ambulance.6 -
Up extra early this morning as DD1 had sent me a message and my phone pinged! I used to always have phone on silent and then earlier this year DD2 had been ill and was in hospital and I haven’t re-silenced it since! Anyway PING! wide awake! Doggy thought it was time to get up…it was not!
Had a chat with DD1 when I was properly up!
We were down at CP as soon as it was light. Blooming freezing but dry! And a part of a spruce tree down in the big winds so if it’s still there tomorrow I’m going to snip the bits for my wreath! Last year there was a tree down in the carpark that I snipped! And home. For an hour and then out for the ouchiest of massages. All the knots were unknotted…with an ‘ I don’t know what you’ve been up to!’And then home again and out with the pressure washer to start trying to clean the patio…green may be my very favourite colour but not on my slabs! So I’ve done about a quarter which took probably about an hour by which time I was wet and cold!Organising gifts for next month! Trying to get the right thing for the right person without being wasteful!Sat and watched a bit this afternoon.
chat to sister and then chat to friend.Just going to have my evening orange! I’m right into oranges just now!It was so nice to have a bright blue and sunny sky though it was the iciest of winds…would have been a good day for a washing on the line but I was all caught up!7 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to coffee morning. There were only 3 people there are one is Very. Over. Bearing. But I gave the other person a tray of cooking pears.
3) Another shift done at work. No more now until after my holiday.
4) Watched my outside bins moving about on the door cam! A bit of guttering has blown down too.
5) Cut smaller son's hair.
6) Watching the Last Leg now.5 -
For yesterday,
Dropped mini off first thing for MOT and an hour later got a call to say all done, no problems, first thing that’s gone right for ages!
Oh and another heating engineer, I left him in beloved’s capable hands and went to see my horse. They were all in due to horrendous weather and she was happy enough in her stable with a big pile of hay, did a few Pilates stretches and generally cosseted.
Text from Capt S to say that we have heating 🎉🎉 don’t get too excited Lainey as it might not last! Drive home was slow & steady as huge puddles everywhere.
Lazy afternoon at home, drinking tea and reading my book.
Rain had slowed down to just a drizzle so popped into next village for a fish & chip supper.

Hello. It is blooming freezing!Up earlier than usual even by our usual early standards! A doggy needed out.
Up and at ‘em. Hoovered. Washing hung outside. Bathroom cleaned.Down to garden centre with DD2 for cheese scone. Popped in to charity shop on way back. Pair of jeans. And a dress…that looked big but couldn’t even get it past my chest to get on! So it will go back! And then home and hello doggy. Briefly.Out to work. Nice drive through countryside to get there.Lovely family to meet. Nice drive back a different way. The sky was stunning. All sunsetty.
Started writing for a wee while but friend called so chatted to her. I’ll write tomorrow. For now it’s strictly time.7 -
For yesterday,
How nice to wake up to a warm house, we only set our thermostat to 20 degrees but to touch a warm radiator is a marvellous thing!
The fields were pretty waterlogged after the previous day’s rain so horses were once again kept in, went over to see my girl and grazed her in hand for a bit, gets her joints moving etc.
Home and just changed before my youngest niece and her fella arrived, they have the most beautiful Akita dog so our lady had her first canine visitor too, we walked them together first and all was well so we headed in for some lunch. Lovely to catch up and by the time they left the dogs were getting on well, C dog isn’t small at all at 30kg but was completely dwarfed by her new pal who is 55kg and such a handsome chap.
One more walk before the light went completely then settled down to watch the footie scores, United could only manage another draw and are just about on the first page of the table.
No evening meal needed as I’d done a cooked lunch so caught up on tv, couple of Shipping Forecasts and a QI.5 -
Morning all 😊
I’ve been reading along but not posting.
Latest house news is we’re renting a bungalow at the coast (keys on 24th) and hope to complete/ move out of here on the 1st. We’ll go down on the 24th and sort things out and take 1 or 2 car loads down. I’ve also had An offer accepted on a flat for my son so 🤞 that goes well and I can rest easy knowing he has somewhere to live!Last night we went to see Nell Bryden (one of OHs favourites) at Pizza Express Live Holborn and she was very good, as was the pizza. Easyish journey, including an Uber back to Liverpool Street Station, but I still find it very tiring.
Out to lunch today with OHs sister and family to remember his mum, it would also have been my mum’s 104th birthday today 🥰).
Have a good Sunday everyone 😊5 -
Sorted out a drawer of bits and various bits binned. And sugar soaped the bits of stairs showing what needed it.
Another pile of paperwork sorted and some bits to one side for scrap booking.
Lunch was soup, and dinner is chicken pieces.
A few loads of washing to get up to date but the couple of loads hung out to dry are still damp days later.
For today
Polo the ferret helping me with a pile of paperwork and having a lovely time as he’s not normally allowed in the office.
Listening to the owl hooting, a very relaxing sound to me, not so much for its prey.
Using up things from the fridge to a pasta bake, which is smelling lovely cooking away.

Hello. Was up very early again. My body clock does not seem to have adjusted to clock change. And I’m obviously still in BST.So I just got up and was downstairs working by 5am. Finished it and sent it off. And had good feedback from one of the two …still waiting on second. Then by 7.45am we were on our way to CP where we had a very lovely walk. It was -3o, there was snow on the island mountains. As I drove into bottom carpark a bird of prey flew out of the woods and into a tree. It was quite big, bigger than a kestrel, so I’m just wondering if it was one of the red kites that usually hover above the woods. I had heard them on Friday morning when we were walking. Just had a google and I think it’s a kite.Anyway as we wandered I saw ( probably same bird) on another tree branch and thought oooh what a lovely photo…it said no ta and off it flew!Such a lovely morning in a blooming freezing kind of way. Just so peaceful. And my happy place and a good headspace place to be after writing what I’d had to write.Home. And had a quick bacon roll then out into the garden to do a bit more power washing! Was out for an hour so that’s half the garden done! Hopefully get a bit more done tomorrow. And in for a hot shower. Put a washing on as joggy trousers were filthy from garden and I also wanted my work trousers for tomorrow morning. So I then put them all in front of the log burner. And sat and finished watching a film that’s taken me all week to see back and forth and in between doing things.Cleaned the downstairs loo ( takes all of 2 minutes 😆) tidied the kitchen. As it’s just me and I’m generally a tidy sort there’s never too much mess! She says with piles to be sorted for the airing cupboard! Also cleaned the glass on porch…until the next time a doggy looks out!Sausage rolls and beans for tea …again! But easy to cook and eat and needed used up! And two oranges for my afternoon snack!A few texts back and forth with a few people throughout the day! Making sure I send the right one to the right person 😆
Its been a nice bright day with blue sky though blooming freezing, a pretty sunset and we’ve just been out under a star filled sky.5 -
Good morning. Very chilly. But not raining so that's a bonus.
Mhagster - I'm in BST with you! I always wake up silly early, and now it's double silly. I don't know how everyone else seems to adjust so quickly!
Another good weekend
Out for an Indian meal on Saturday for DH birthday with DD and DSiL. They're such good company and we really enjoyed ourselves. DSiL's parents should have been there too but his dad had a really bad reaction to a shingles jab and was too ill to come. Nothing much to be done either except rest and painkillers. It sounds awful. But we've agreed on another meal out when he feels better.
DGS football on Sunday. Thought it might have been cancelled due to a very soggy pitch but it went ahead anyway. They won but they all looked as if they needed hosing down afterwards!
Have booked a coach trip in April to Gardens of Cornwall. We've wanted to go for the last two years but it always gets booked up really quickly. Made it this time!
One side effect of DH birthday is I discovered I'd somehow lost a year. We're the same age and when he said something about how old he was, I said no we're a year younger than that. But when I worked it out, he was right!! Think I might go back to about 35 anyway😂
Happy Monday everyone, from a very old Happy Cas x5
