What small DFW things will you do this week? W/c 10th April

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning
woke up at the usual time (5am!) was lulled into a false sense of security sleeping till 6.45 yesterday!
Am achy after yesterday's allotment session (which in all probability was because I was tired from Saturday's digging when I dug over 2 m x almost 3m section in about an hour!) As I was coming to an end at the allotment my neighbour turned up and dug out 3 blackberry bushes for me which meant I then continued digging over an area not dug before which had bramble and nettles. I have a general rule that I can dig for up to 1.5 hours and anything after that is too much for me and I'll be exhausted for the rest of the day! Now I've just typed it out I think I'll give going there this morning a rest and may go this evening for an hour if I'm up to it. Once I've had another coffee I think I'll wander down to the greenhouse and sow a couple more things
weather forecast isn't as lovely for the foreseeable future - there was me hoping we were heading for a long glorious summer! Still I'll do a load of washing & hang out
No real big plans for today - me and madam are off for the week as the childminder is taking a holiday will take her to the garden centre and have a mosey around. I have a voucher for a free coffee in the cafe and they have a tiny soft play that is £1 entrance so that'll be a couple of hours entertainment at low cost
on way home will call in to a1di and do shopping - sticking to the list! Then will call into the library to get some more books & return the ones we have
This afternoon I will do some baking with madam as she has been asking to for the last couple of days. Will make some rice crispy cakes, fairy cakes and cheese straws
will do flylady at some point
sadly the work on our garden isn't now starting until Wednesday
I suppose it gives us a bit more time to sort the area out. The more we can do the less we pay!
That's enough, just planning to poodle through the day

Morning all,
DNMS I'm aching all over just reading your thread!
Have decided next year's resolution is to become green fingered. I've no excuse, i have 1/4 acre garden going to waste!
Have DNephew today. After a speedy week last week with him, we're having an arts and crafts day today. Going to make a Papier mache piggy bank - trying to teach him how to save.
Last night we played pieface showdown - messy lol.
Dinner not yet decided, have decided to cull the freezer, there's alot in there that we're kidding ourselves we're going to eat.
Aside from balloons, will try and make it a NSD (laughing as I write this, DN in tow, never going to happen)
Have a good one folks.
L XxDebt peak approx £30,000  now debt free!!! :j
My parents always said "If you can't afford it cash, you can't afford it!" so true!.... mind you, turns out we can't afford much lol :rotfl:0 -
Morning all

Thanks for the start DNMS, hope you have a nice day, I like the sound of your plans (love garden centres!)
For me today:
Check that the standing order I set up over the weekend has been paid by one of the banks (it has :T)
Sort out beds, DS is returning with GD1 for a few days, which means DS will have to sleep in the lounge on the sofa bed (I only have one spare bedroom). I don't love the disruption of this, but we will get round it. No doubt I will end up with the dog as well.... I'll be so glad when he gets round to renting a house! Still in progress...
Change our bed and wash linen, hoping to dry on the line, but weather prospects are sadly not as nice as it has been for the last few days. Still got to remake bed
Need some shopping, make a list! Done
Do something with the remaining frozen rhubarb, which I took out of the freezer and cooked last night. The fresh rhubarb is ready now, so I need to deal with this! Had a spoonful for breakfast with my porridge and yogurt, made the rest of it into a huge rhubarb and walnut crumble
Need to type up some business stuff Not done
Visit sales unit Done
Dog walks OH did both today
Dental hygienist this afternoon
Done
Made toad in the hole for dinner, wouldn't normally do this for OH and I, but as DS and DGD1 are here... it was yummy
More coffee needed, looking at that lot!0 -
Morning all :hello: No :coffee: for me this morning as dd 'kindly' used the last of the milk last night
This means I'll be out and about very early as I won't go much longer without my morning cuppa. Thanks for the start this week DNMS.
We're off for a few days today, so I'm not sure whether or not I'll be back on here during the week. It depends what the wifi is like where we're going and whether I can navigate posting from my phone without too much trouble.
Busy morning before I go though - I need to collect my medication from the pharmacy, get some milk, fuel the car and check tyres and go to the butcher for meat to take away. Also need to hoover through (again) as my living room rug is apparently a huge dirt magnet.
Have a lovely day everyone :wave:Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning everyone
Up early again, taking a cuppa to sit outside at 6am shaking cat treats hoping wayward kitty will appear.
Since doing the getting up really early routine, I have actually been enjoying it now my body clock has adapted.
If warm enough, I sit outside with a cuppa listening to the birdsong shaking cat treats but just the peace and quiet of the early morning is lovely.
Have been getting banking checked and sorted. It was just a fluke that my daughters phone was due to be changed around black Friday. We ended up getting 3 months payments for free after 3 months of regular payments. This is not a problem as it is on a direct debit but now appreciating the savings of £132 over the next 3 months.
Checked about getting my phone upgraded as it is on its way out. I'm on a sim only deal but pay a couple of pounds more for unlimited mins. Worked out for £3 more I can get a brand new phone, mine is one of the old bricks. I desperately need to upgrade. Could do it now but will cost £31. Said i' ll wait till June 13th till the end of the contract and do it then.
Good old Maccies must have realised what had happened with the payment for the pancake breakfast yesterday morning, and the payment from my bank has been cancelled.
Weather looks to be abit better today so washing on the line and bathroom to be cleaned which wasn't done yesterday.
DD now fully into revision, said to her yesterday that we need to be using up what is in the fridge, lots of bits and bobs to be used and not do little supermarket shops.
Got a good deal with Superdr%g yesterday. Face masks on a special price plus excellent for 2 deal. Body sprays 49p. I get postage for free and had points off so spent the grand total of 98p. The face masks will be put away to make up little pamper pack presents.
Have a good day everyone xxDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Morning all!
Back to work for me today, boo, I have really enjoyed my week off and feel like I got a lot done. I have printed out some work samples I couldn't access due to my technical hitch so will hand those over some time today.
I've brought in a spaghetti carbonara from the freezer for lunch plus a spare pot to save half for tomorrow. Dinner tonight will probably be pasta again but the teens will enjoy it.
DS has a date now to go into college re the apprenticeship, slowly but surely things seem to be getting somewhere!
I've got an eBay sale to pack and post tonight plus another bigger item ending today.
I've remembered to take the bubble wrap off little Auby today (DNMS, don't forget mine was a garden centre but so they've probably done all sorts to bring it on early!) Tonight I will plant the hellebores and decide where to move the passiflora to.
Have a good day all

Morning everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The sun is still shinning here but definitely chillier than yesterday but I'm not complaining as it isn't raining.
I've got my shopping list in front of me and I'm going to trek off to Lidl in a while.... I'm debating on whether or not to go to Aldi which is much further away and I've never been to that store but I'll have to see how much time I've got.
So today:
- Stick to shopping list and not go to Sainsbury's and see how much I can reduce my weekly bill by
- Bath mats are in the machine so I'll stick them outside to dry
- Working from home today so lunch from cupboards
- Check banking... I worked out if I really rein in the spend till pay day I could potentially have £400 left over at the end of the month!!
- Check surveys
That's it for now. Have a fab day!0 -
