Morning :hello: wow is it Thursday already - where did the week go !!! I'm WFH today, so much to be done (both work and MoneySaving ;))

    I have already:
Put washing outside that was on airer yesterday and not quite dry, another load in on 30
Checked fridge and frozen two portions of kale pesto and checked nothing else is on the turn
Got pork and froz canellini beans out for SC for tomorrow also chicken thighs and cauli rice to go with some HM balti baste lurking in fridge for tea tonight
Listed a coat I bought on FB selling page, if there are no takers in next 24 hours i'll take it back to shop and get a refund so nothing lost either way
DH at Drs (just routine) but asked him to walk from there in to town to pick up a C&C parcel
Moved CB to high interest savings account
Checked banking, updated sheet, DH wages in a day early as is BH tomorrow :D
Emptied and re-loaded DW, it can go on tonight for cheap

    I also need to:
    Do lots of work ;)
    Water seedlings
    order my dad's birthday present
Pop to wholesaler for joint for Sunday
Check April things to do and see what we can achieve whilst off work for 4 days :D
    Maybe some knitting tonight
Make malt loaf for smalls snacks when DH gets home with Click and collect order
Make hummus with chick peas I cooked last night, freeze rest in portions
cash out survey money and pay to savings

Looks like I might need to buy some dates 1LL  after using up my ginormous bag that went OOD in 2010 ;) I've now found two recipes that I make quite frequently that need some. It's always the way. Same with the malt extract - that was 3 years OOD and when I moved it to my use up box, I finally found a recipe that was great with it and now I have to buy some more;)

    Enjoy your day. Purps.

1LuckyLady thank you for sharing your famous recipe.

Last night I wrote a post about our day, once I posted it it disappeared as the wifi had gone down, doh.

The jist was we did the grocery shop, only buying one thing extra as a treat for us all over the holiday weekend, costing less than a pound. Very pleased the children who rarely accompany me, were very good didn't keep asking for things and were helpful.

Instead of having our planned meal last night we moved that meal to later in the month, the children had lo HM pizza and salad and I used up the veg leftover from our roast dinner with a pie.

    Today's plan:
    NSD
    PAD
    FPL, Ashleigh etc
    On going survey
Freeze stock made overnight in the slow cooker
    Make bread
    Educate the children for free
    Entertain us for free
    Make birthday card
Turn off lights and appliances not being used
    Stick to meal plan
    Do not wash hair
    Make porridge
    Set DW to run overnight
    Set WM to run overnight

    Tidy house = tidy mind
    20 minutes weeding
    Sweep downstairs
    Dust downstairs
    Tidy kitchen table
    Delete 100 emails
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

PurpleFairy that is great news regarding finishing things in your use up box and funny that they will need to be replaced as you now have great recipes to use them in.

    BB - Date cake recipe

    10fl oz boiling water
    8oz s r flour
    1tsp mixed spice
    3.5oz (approx) grated carrot
1lb 2oz approx dried mixed fruit
    3 tsp baking powder
    4 tablespoons of lemon juice

    Grease & line a 2lb cake tin.
Put dried dates into the boiling water add all the other ingredients on top and mix well.
Spoon mixture into the tin and bake for 90mins at 160 degrees c .

1LL, do you use dates instead of dried fruit in this recipe? Or am I missing something :oThanks for clarifying 1LL, I will try this :)

Sunny but cold here today. I have put the heating on to warm up the airing cupboard and bathroom towel rail to air damp washing etc (doesn't quite dry on the line this weather, needs finishing off). Got wood stove alight now, Brrrr

    Today's plans:
Dog walks (both dogs have had morning walk)
Already been to next town to visit the market - didn't buy much as we are away over the next few days :)
Got bolognese sauce out of freezer to make a lasagne later on :)

    Still to do:
Go through fridge to see what needs using up / freezing before we go away, to avoid possibility of waste  OH made BLT sandwiches for lunch to use up a few rashers of bacon and some salad stuff, some leftover gravy went into the lasagne, and I cut up and froze a bag of carrots from Lidls which hadn't been opened and were only bought a couple of days ago, but were going a bit soggy. Do others find that their veg goes off quickly if you don't keep an eye on it?
Load of washing, which will be pegged on the line outside Done, will finish off on airer as there are a couple of tops I want to take away with me.
GD1 will be back later from staying overnight with her big bro and his gf, and her Dad will be borrowing my car to take her home. Nice that she was able to catch up with her sibling as she doesn't see him often these days :( Must remember to give her an easter egg from the pile I bought in Lidls the other day, to take back home with her :)Done
Strip off spare bed and tidy spare room Not done this yet, but will this evening
Make lasagne later Done, eaten, froze a leftover portion :)
Another dog walk OH did this one :)
Sowed some more seeds, repotted a few herb plants I bought at the market this morning :)
    Found some onepoll surveys
Sold an ebay item, must pack it this evening so I can post it off tomorrow morning - otherwise it will have to wait till after Easter.

And that is it - nothing very taxing today as I didn't sleep well again last night :(

Late one for me too. Work was busy but then we got let off at 4.30pm which was lovely. I spent some time playing around with Ziffit and WBB to decide what to send where (Ziffit best for old books, WBB for new ones it seems.)

I've missed the reductions for the last two days as they've been doing them mega early so I asked what time they were doing them when I passed on my way home from work and then went even earlier :rotfl:

    I managed to get:

    4 X packs strawberries
    1 X pack raspberries
    1 X blackberries
    2 X packs grapes
    1 X pack hunters chicken
    1 X prawn fish cakes
    1 X pack stuffed mushrooms
2 X crab and chilli linguine

    All at 90% off :T

I've had to make an appointment at the vet for the cat as she has a fatty lump on her chest (and it's not her belly for once.) it doesn't seem to be troubling her but it has appeared as if from nowhere. They didn't have any appointments for this Saturday so I've had to make it for next Saturday.

Can't believe I have four whole days off again :T
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10

    Evening Campers,
    Today's efforts:
*House cleaned by mr f using minimal products & washable microfibre cloths.
*Most of grocery shop also done by mr f, but don't think Aldi had stocked up yet for the weekend as he was unable to get milk & quite a few other really quite standard things. Will pick up the rest of our list in town tomorrow.
*Decorated my Dad's 80th birthday cake. I'm quite pleased with it, as despite my love of baking, I've never done any cake decorating/sugarcraft courses, & I am not as confident with icing as I could be. Anyway, I just bought white fondant & some pastes & dyed it all myself, as this was much cheaper than buying ready-coloured icing, plus I have still got the colouring pastes to use for future cakes as they last for ages. Had already got silver balls in the cupboard, & saved a bit more money by making a template & cutting out the '80' by hand with a sharp knife rather than buying a set of number cutters. It's all finished now, waiting for Dad's 'do' & in a less than £2 cardboard cake box instead of the big expensive plastic cake carrier box I thought I would have to buy. Never cheap to make a big fruit cake, but certainly nowhere near what I'd have had to pay to have it made & iced professionally,
*Turned fudge out of tins (made yesterday) & cut up. Will put in nice cellophane bags tomorrow (Easter gifts....cheaper than the usual big chocolate eggs).
*Used leftover evaporated milk & whole milk (leftover from fudge), topped up with a bit of semi-skimmed & made a rice pudding. mr f had to have red jam on his, like school dinners, said it was lovely & could we have it again. Result! Cheap, easy & diet compatible!
*Checked baby veggie plant for pests/problems. Dispatched 5 llittle slugs. Because little slugs GROW!!
*Used some soon-to-be-bendy carrots in a carrot & raisin salad to go with dinner (more of the chickpea burgers I batch-cooked a while back, must do some more of those as we both really like them).
*£20 in survey payments arrived. Updated my signature.
That's pretty much it for today. Oh, & we did a lot of discussion about decorating our lounge, especially re-arranging furniture, reducing some of our bookshelves, etc. Looking forward to making a start on that.
    Cheers all,
    F x
