    Hi guys...

    Reading through the recent posts the best retention deal I can expect seems to be this one;

    "£10 a month
    250 mins
    100 texts
    STC
    nokia 5800 free
    12 months"

( FYI I have 2 phones on an 18 month contract which expires in August. I currently pay £25 a month for each phone )

The thing is I'd really like the new HTC Magic... how much more a month more do you ppl reckon I'd have to pay to get the handsets for free and with unlimited mobile internet on a 12 month contract ?

    TYIA,

    Mark.

    Hmmm, what a coincidence...

Just got a call out of the blue from Vodafone and the best they said they can do for me is 200 mins with STC, 250 texts and no phone for £15 a month (= £15x2 = £30 a month, see below/last post) .

What a joke, Ive been with Voda for 7 years, I feel insulted.

Oh, and I was told Vodafone were contractually obliged to offer the HTC Magic on no less than an 18 month contract ?!?

I'll see if they come back and better it as my contract doesnt end 'till the end of August.

If I'm messed around much more I might just request my PAC number, leave them, and go elsewhere on PAYG.

    Mark.

When did they offer you this deal, and was this just before your contract ended? Also what did you say to them, did you threaten to leave etc..?

I called them 60 days before my contact ends. i asked them for my PAC CODE.
  • Remember if your contract has ended and you are happy with the phone you have, you HAVE TO change contracts, otherwise you are paying too much.

WHY? Because if you got the phone at the start of your 12/18-month contract then your monthly bill includes the cost of the phone. So even though you've effectively paid back the phone charge, if you dont' switch you are still paying for nothing.

My 18 month contract ended with Vodafone. Because I was happy with my phone, I simply switched to a monthly contract which is loads cheaper.
NOTE: Vodafone are not interested in providing deals to keep you for the monthly contract only deals, they'll only try and keep you with them with the 12/18-month deals.

Evidence is that I shifted to a Vodafone 300mins 1-month contract at £15/month. But, T-Mobile offered 350minutes but Vodafone wouldn't match it.
But I'm happy as my monthly contract leaves me free to consider the iPhone 3GS in the coming weeks :)

My son fancies this but his contract is presently £20 per month and the cheapest Vodafone are doing it for is £40 per month and I don't want to pay double, especially as he would not use all the calls and texts. I have looked elsewhere but the cheapest I have seen is £35 per month. He has said his second choice would be the Samsung Tocco Ultra but have previously been told we can't have this unless we go for a 2 year contract or have a higher priced package which I don't want or need. I might ask for the N97 and then 'settle' for the Tocco Ultra if I can!

I got a call from vodafone retentions on wednesday after asking for my PAC code.

The deal we agreed to was 500 min, 100 text, free internet + Nokia 5800 all for £15 a month for the duration of an 18 month contract.

They also asked me if I wanted the same on another line I have with them which was due for an upgrade, so I agreed to that too.

When the contracts arrived in the post, they had given me the deal for a discounted £16 a month for 15 months after which I pay £30 for the remainder.

I called them up to get it sorted but they weren't having it (telling me the deal that I'd 'claimed' to agree to was impossible) and also told me they didn't have a recording of the call. My second upgraded contract was previously on another £15 a month deal which I asked to get reverted back to, but they said they couldn't do that also. If I reverted, the discount on that deal would no longer apply and I'd have to go on £30 a month contract for the remainder.

In essense I've been screwed, so I advice you all be extra careful with this...

I'd appreciate any advice from you all on how I can at the least get my contract reverted back to what I was on originally. Vodafone customer service haven't been helpful at all...

I had the same problem, agreed a deal to get the Nokia 5800 and they sent me a SE C300. What a bunch of jokers.

Yea i cant see why they wouldnt. the Contract online for new customers is £40 over 24months, with 1200mins and unlimited text and internet, (perfect for me)

my current contract is 600mins and unlimited text and net. for £35. so im going to ask for it at £35 and see what they say... but for the extra mins (that i would use) i wouldnt mind the extra £5.

althought i would ask for a bluetooth car kit or somethign to get something extra out of it lol.

    :)

either that or i cancel and join as a new customer lol..

but i cant see they would be funny about it realy lol.
