Vodafone Retention Deals

I think most of it is BS as i find from some of them you speak to. Tell them you will be emailing the durectors office and do it so they leave a note on your account0

Is this any good? Currently paying £40pm on a retentions deals (phones4u). Its actually for the missus - she wanted a camera for her bag so instead of buying her a camera AND and new phone (plus all the wiring!) just ordered:
24 months
600mins
unlmited texts
SE W902 (would of been £15pm sim only)
4gb memory card
£19.52pm
Also they drop the tarrif immediately for the last month so £20 saved0 -
My contract runs out on July 11th, currently on £40 a month 750 mins and 250 txts , from phones 4u on a 11 month free 12 month contract. Asked for pac code on saturday , going to go to virgin £10 month sim only as it suits my needs now, don't use anywhere near , Vodafone rang today offering me 100 txtx and 500 mins for £10 a month, asked if they would throw in a phone and they flatly refused, so left it with them. Whats the likely hood of getting a phone? Not really bothered but not happy with vodafone after another incident on another contract(another story). Might just go with virgin for a quiet life.0

Hi...
Well, my phones arrived on Thursday and I must say I am surprised at how good the Nokia 5800 is. It's operating systems new version of Symbian 60 5th edition software is really quick, and there are loads of free applications, widgets, games etc that you can get off the web.
I was going to sell them and keep my old HTC's, but the Nokia is so good I'm gonna sell my HTC's instead.
Thats the good news...
The bad news is that when I agreed to an upgrade I was promised a 12 month contract @ £10 a month (per handset) for the first 9 months, and then just under £25 a month for the last 3 months (per handset). I was also promised Stop The Clock, 250 mins + 100 texts, and unlimited internet for each of the 2 phones I have on contract.
I got all the above except stop the clock. I phoned Vodafone and they said they couldn't correct the error as my deal was so good they would end up losing money ? If we wanted stop the clock added to our contract we'de have to pay an extra £5 per month per handset ???
Incidentally, I/we have had stop the clock on our contract for donkeys years before this mess up - and now it seems we've lost it
I know I still have have an exceptionally good deal, but do I feel robbed that Vodafone promised me a new contract that included stop the clock but they haven't given it to me. Surely they are in breech of contract ?
I/we've been with Vodafone for 7 years.
When I said to the 2 people I spoke too (an operator and then her manager) that I was absolutely sure I was offered Stop The Clock and maybe they should listen to the recording that they keep of all there phone calls, I was told that if I wanted the call to be retrieved and listened to, Id have to pay Vodafone to do this - is this right ? - it sounds like BS to me, but what can I do !
I did post this on the forum section of the vodafone.co.uk website, but they censored my post and removed it as post's concerning contract disputes breaches there T&C's...
Your opinions are welcome,
Regards,
M.
Good news
I recieved an email from the Vodafone forum yesterday asking me to send them a quick reply regarding all this.
After following their request I got another email from them early this morning apologising for the mistake and confirming that they had now added Stop The Clock to the 2 phones on my contract.
As I have said in other posts, I have been with them for around 7 years now, and despite this hiccup, I reckon that they're just as good, if not better, than other networks.
My advice to others who may find themselves in a similar situation with their network - try phoning so resolve things, and if that doesn't work send an email outlining the issue to customer services and give them a few days to check things out and confirm that there was a mistake, and then hopefully they'll be able to remedy things.

I thought you said your contract ended in august? Mine ends in august and when i asked them for my PAC code they told me to call back 30 days before it ended... Trying to get the same offer as you..but don't think they're budging any haggling tips..0 -
I have one of these mobiles2yourdoor (part of phones4U) contracts which was 12 months free on a 12 month contract and comes to an end in August. Just phoned Vodafone to see what was on offer as we have spent quite a bit on this contract in addition to the basic costs, and this is what they came up with was:
Nokia 6300 (not a particularly valuable phone!)
700 minutes
250 texts
Landline or Vodafone calls thrown in (presumably off peak)
24 month contract
£19 a month
This did not sound like a particularly good deal to me so I asked a few questions such as how much is it without the phone and apparently there is no reduction. So I am putting my 30 day notice in.0 -

Hi kdamani.
Yes my contract was going to end in August.
I waited for Vodafone to call me rather then phone them first.
Asking for your PAC at this moment in time was a mistake IMO. Don't be stroppy or make threats.
The first call I received from them didn't go anywhere... I explained that a friend of mine had got the deal I wanted, and was told there was no way they could match it - end of telephone call.
The next evening another guy called me asking why I didnt renew & upgrade, I explained to him what had happened.
He then offered me what I wanted for £12.50 a month (per handset) on a 12 month contract for the first 9 months, and just under £25 for the last 3 months..
I ummed and arghed, and said that I really wanted the same deal that my friend had, and if he could match that now, I'd happily agree to renew my contract immediately with him. He said yes. Delivery was agreed for Thursday.
So, on the 12 month contract for £10 per month (per handset) for the first 9 months, just under £25 there after, I have :
Free Nokia 5800 (inc. Free P+P)
100 texts & 250 mins + STC
Free unlimited internet
Passport
Free 3 month trial of mobile TV.
All I can say regarding any tips is to remain friendly and try to understand these guys work in an intense atmosphere and often get crap from customers.
Be nice, be polite, have a laugh and joke. Know exactly what you want and how much you want to pay, and stick to your guns.
My deal may have been influenced by the facts that I have been with Vodafone for around 7 years, and on the previous contract the average monthly bill was £57 (including both handsets) .
If your history is different with Vodafone you may be offered a different deal, which for your previous circumstances, may really be the best deal they can offer you.

hmm thanks, now just have to wait for them to call me.. what are the chances of that?0 -
My contract is very nearly at its end but my son actually has the phone and is 100 miles away. I did go into one of the Vodafone shops once and they said they would get the retention people to phone me. I gave them all MY contact details but they phoned my son instead and still haven't phoned me!
Does anyone know of a cheap or free number you can phone if you haven't actually got the handset yourself, so can't dial the short number? Either a freefone or a geographical number preferably. It's my son's 21st birthday on July 5th and I am getting him a new mobile as part of his present, so need to get a move on!3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
Has anybody attempted to get an upgrade to either the Nokia N97 32GB or the Samsung Jet? Seem to be among the best new phones out there at the mo. My contract is up for renewal on the 6th July and they will be the first ones that i'll try and get.0
