I did my deal today on the phone. 300 mins, unlimited text, Tocca (5mp not ultra) £15 per month. Plus £5 for T mobile PAC code fee and free delivery. Big plus is free use abroad this summer as DD is off to France with the school so can ring/text us to her hearts content for no extra charge.

I think there is a 75p connection charge to receive and make calls while abroad, unless this has changed.

I did ask yesterday and he said no there is no charge June-August.

From 1 June to 31 August it won't cost you any more to call, text or send picture messages when you're abroad than it does at home. This is because we've abolished our normal 75p roaming charge – which is what you usually pay to connect a call to the UK with Vodafone Passport.
Simply opt in to Vodafone Passport and take your home rates with you to over 35 European countries, plus Australia and New Zealand. Then you can text home to gloat about the weather, ring the beach bar to reserve a table in the shade or send photos of that perfect white sand – without worrying about the cost. If you're on Vodafone Passport already we have given you the promotion automatically, so you don't need to do a thing – except enjoy your holiday.
We'll text you before the promotion ends and unless you opt out, you'll continue to enjoy our standard Vodafone Passport rates.

Just rang Vodafone to request my PAC. Currently on £30 a month but hardly make any calls or send any texts. Operator said they could reduce my montly rental and upgrade my phone if I was willing to stay with Vodafone. They asked what phone features I was looking for. I mentioned GPS. They offered a Nokia 6210 Navigator, 200 minutes and 100 texts for £14.69 a month. I said I wasn't familiar with that phone so couldn't make a decision on that offer. Operator offered to send the phone for me to check out. I refused that and said I would call into one of their shops to see what it was like. Operator said is there anything he could do immediately to get me to stay with Vodafone. Wasn't expecting that!! Said I would consider his offer and call back. Operator reluctantly said OK and I again asked that my PAC be sent.

Having looked at the phone I don't think I will take up that offer. I did like the N85 and I would actually take less minutes. Do I ring back and ask for the same offer but with the N85? Or do I wait for retentions to call me now? Not sure how to now move forward and get the best deal.

Well, I received this text yesterday from Vodafone... "Good news, the query you have reported has now been fully resolved." - I don't know what query has been resolved, but it's definitely not mine, because according to the person I spoke to about 20 minutes ago, the plan I did not agree to is still in place on the system. So I had no other option but to cancel the contract and return the phone. The jiffy is on its way. EDIT: It seems that this has also fell through!! I phoned back because I hadn't received the comfirmation email I requested. So now I've been told that the hand set will be collected by currier tomorrow between 8am - 6pm. I've also just received a comfirmation email explaining this. Phew!

I am absolutely shocked and disappointed at Vodafone for allowing this to happen, especially to a loyal customer. Anyway, due to the hassle I've been put through over the last 14 days, I'll be glad to see the back them.

Vodafone have not just lost me as a very good loyal customer, they have also lost the custom from the rest of my family. Not forgetting the potential customers who are looking around the forums for information to make them decide whether or not to choose Vodafone as their next provider.

We will stay on PAYG until another plan with another provider can be arranged.

EDIT: Guess what? Yep, my wife waited in all day and the currier didn't turn up to collect it! What a shambles, What's going on with Vodafone?

Most people (including myself) are getting/have taken the following deal:

    HTC Magic Free
    600 anytime mins
    Unlimited texts
    Unlimited Internet
    Vodafone Passport

For £25.00 per month on an 18 month contract (total cost of £450 over the 18 months).

I would have happily taken this deal but tried twice and they were unable to do it for this on 18 month contract. Quoted me £30 per month if I wanted for that length or £25 for 24 month contract! Wouldnt budge on anything, never had a problem with vodafone but looks like my PAC code is going to be used soon.

Wasnt sure whether to stay or not but dont want to be tied in for 2 years with this phone.

Does anyone know if upgrades/outbound retentions department have monthly targets, which they have to meet?

As lately I have seen a few posts where people have not been getting the same deals which generally others have. So could it be that upgrades, or more specifically the outbound retention department can be more flexible with the kinds of deals they are able to offer in the latter part of a month as they have certain targets which they need to meet?

My deal was finalised at the end of last Month (28th/29th) and last year was also at the end of May. Both times I got what I wanted and I never go over my monthly call/text allowance and my monthly bills are exactly the same every month. I know some people have mentioned that if you regularly spend more on calls/texts then there is more of a likelihood of you getting a better retention offer, however in my case I’ve never spent over my allowance and both times have got what I wanted (makes me think, would I still have got the same deals had I asked for my PAC code at the beginning of the month????).

Certainly something to think about, as what other logical explanation can there be for Vodafone offering a certain deal for £25 per month to some people and at £30 per month to others.

Yes that would be interesting to know as i dont see why they couldnt offer me the deal everyone else seemed to be gettting on htc last week.

What they offered me was worse than i could get as a new customer going through phones4u (£30 per month but with quidco etc).

And that was from the retentions that called me back after i requested pac, is it worth ringing up for a third time and trying somebody else?

I called voda to request my PAC (I've got 3 weeks left on my contract) and was told that the pac can only be given on the last day of my contract, or if I want it now then I have to pay the remainder of the contract (twenty something pounds) and my contract is cancelled from that point.
I explained that I was just phoning to say I wanted my contract cancelled at the end of its term and that the PAC was for use after that date, but they wouldnt budge.

Firsly, is this correct, and secondly what should I say when I phone them back?
What I actually want is a new contract!

same thing happened to me, i have just received the pac in the post and it says that it lasts for 30 days so if you use it before the end of your contract you will have to pay the remainder of the time left of existing contract. There should not be a charge for actually issuing you with pac unless you use it which would terminate your contract early.

Just request your pac and somebody from retentions will call you back to ask why and offer you some sort of deal (in my case tho it was a rubbish offer so i took the pac)
