I'm really, really cross about this, particularly because I'd made certain that I understood what I was agreeding to in the first instance.

How can they do this and get away with it?

What's my best course of action now?
    Send back the handset?
Ask for the recording of the original conversation?

i called today to cancel my contract extension within the 14 days. they asked me why, and i explained i had been told by their Upgrades dept last week that there was no Retentions dept (Retentions gave me a good deal last year), then i had come on here and discovered i had not been told the truth.

i asked for an HTC Magic and 500 minutes for #25, instead of no handset and 300 minutes for #15 which i agreed to last week. Upgrades said they could not do that and would issue my PAC by post. just in case they did not cancel my new contract and issue the PAC, i asked to record the call at that point, and they told me i was not allowed!

Didnt there used to be a person that worked on retentions who popped into this thread?

I dont see why they say its not allowed to record them, all they can do is hang up then you do it again and complain about their sh&t service which seems like what most people are doing nowadays anyway

i have just been speaking to vodafone about an upgrade as my 18 months contract will end next month. after nearly an hour of negotiation the best they came up with was:

    samsung toco ultra
    500 min
    100 texts
    unlimited internet
    18 months contract for £30/month

i told them to call me back later but i think it is a crap deal...what people think?

It is a crap deal, you can get free htc magic anyway in this plan....:rotfl:

try to ask for the PAC code, they will transfer you to the saves department. You can get much better deal just one phone call away..:T

    Hi,
I've never done a retention deal before - I've always gone for a new phone on a cashback deal, but they are a bit thin on the ground at the moment. Contracts are closing on 1/07, so I thought I'd try calling them and see what they have to offer.
    I'm currently on; (x 2 'phones)
    700 minutes, 250 texts, for £40 (100% cashback M2YD)

    They have offered me;
    no 'phone
    700 minutes
    250 texts
    unlimited landline calls
    12 month contract
    For £15

    Or
    Sony Erricson C510
    700 minutes
    250 texts
    unlimited landline calls
    12 months for £17.49

Is this any good? I did try to push for the 'phone in the £15 offer but they wouldn't budge. They are holding the offer on my account, so is there any point calling closer to contract end time and seeing if they improve the offer?
Any help/advice would be appreciated as I think I've got cashback deals under my belt now (thanks to mobilejunkie!), but redemptions is a whole new ball game
(I am working my way through the thread to spot potential pitfalls) TIA

The retentions team did offer me SE C501 for free on £10 a month plan, so you need to push a bit harder...:rotfl: try to request your PAC code first... :T
