  • I had just under a quarter of a tank left of petrol. DF gave me £50 for petrol and £20 for my birthday a few months ago which was lovely of him 😊 Filled the car up, just under £40. Puppy dog is very pleased to see me. I have missed her.

Had an email from my solicitor and have now paid £300 for searches and £90 for no-cost insurance to cover solicitor fees on my new purchase in case this one falls through too.

It’s meant to get up to 37 degrees this weekend 🥵 so I am not planning to do anything except some washing!

Wow it’s hot 🥵 Had my fan on all night. Windows/ doors are open, DS is working from home in the kitchen, but there is no breeze. I’ve put all the fans on and the air is moving a bit.

Puppy dog has gone away with DS’s gf to her parents so no dog walking for me today. I was still awake early & it was cooler at 5am. Our council wanted bins out by 6am, due to the heatwave they were supposed to be collecting earlier, but have just been at normal time.

I walked to the co op earlier and bought milk, 12 pack pep max, ham & salad bits. £11.85. It was already hot out, but lovely to cool down a bit in their air con. I want to hard boil some eggs but it’s too hot.

My friend (the one who moved) invited me to her house this weekend but last time I went and it was hot (over 30 degrees) I threw up in her garden 🫢 despite sitting in the shade, so I told her we will do it next weekend when the heatwave has passed. I’m usually ok up to 25 degrees but at the moment I’m melting 🫠 I have filled another large bottle with tap water & put in the fridge to keep myself hydrated.

One load of washing done & hung out. I don’t think I will be moving far from the fan for the rest of the day.

  • Have got 3 quotes this time for my level 2 survey, £600, £630 and £375. All have the same qualifications & are booking for the same dates. So I have gone for the £375. They explained they are cheaper as they are independent and work from home so have lower overheads. They send the survey results within 48 hours whereas the others were 5 working days.

They now book a date via the Estate Agent and then send me an invoice. They all want the money in advance.

It has been a hot one today, I'm not surprised you're struggling.
You can do the eggs in the microwave or have them sitting in hot water after making a brew.
Good call using the independent, he'll probably produce a better report or confirm other information to you.

  • I had a look online and I never knew it is possible to boil eggs in the microwave by adding salt to stop them exploding. I will give that a go. Thank MF. 😃

Always have a quick look online as there's usually a cheaper way of doing something with food cravings.

Reduce Xmas savings by £2 as it will leave you in credit from income.

  • Thanks MF. I am lucky that I have a choice and can cover the shortfall from various savings budgets. I still have a bit left in my entertainment budget and DF gave me £20 for my birthday so that should more than cover it.

I have about a quarter of a tank of petrol left so I am hoping I will only need another £20 top up to last until the bank holiday now as I am only going to the office 3 days a week and working from home the remaining 2 days.

I am going shopping on Tuesday on my way home from work. Until then I have a huge marrow that DF gave me and have taken a pack of mince out of the freezer so I am going to make stuffed marrow this morning while it is cooler in the kitchen & freeze leftovers.

I am only going to use half a pack of mince and pack out with veg and I will put the rest of the mince and veg in the slow cooker and add baked beans & kidney beans and tin of tomatoes and make a chilli.

Hurrah to end of mortgage what a relief and a lovely new house to look forward to. I agree with you about not going out in this weather. It is v warm today, rest as much as poss. I think this weather will last for some time.
Aiming for a minimal spend 2022
  • I spent most of yesterday on the sofa watching tv in front of the fan. I hate this hot weather. I did manage to clean the bathroom by doing it each time I went to the loo. All the water / squash I drank there were plenty of opportunities to wipe round the sink, bath & loo. 😆

Two loads of washing done and line dried including towels. Also wiped round the kitchen surfaces & unloaded/ reloaded the dishwasher.

Today I have a few little jobs to do. I have minor sewing repairs on two tops. I need to remove empty meds boxes from my bedroom into recycling after removing sticky name / address labels. I will unpack shoes from my backpack that I took away on holiday.  I also need to mop the bathroom and kitchen floors.

Can’t do any more washing until I buy more liquid when I go shopping on Tuesday. Then I will do my bedding.

The temperature is already starting to ramp up outside.
