  • The mouse trap arrived yesterday. Loaded with peanut butter & placed where it’s been running but nothing caught yet.

I ordered some press studs yesterday from a uk seller, free delivery with prime £2.19 for a set of 20 should do the job.

Planning to go shopping later this afternoon. Hope there has not been any panic buying. It is supposed to brighten up later, it’s raining just now and blowing a gale.

Good luck i heard my local supermarket was stripped of the essentials. Let's hope mousey takes the bait. Well done on press studs. Have a good day today.
Aiming for a minimal spend 2022
  • Unfortunately some people are overbuying, making it awkward for doing a full shop. Have back up ideas for food and you will be ok.

  • Unfortunately I cannot get there until the afternoon by which time they are empty from photos my friend sent me of empty shelves 😱 However I have managed to get a Morrisons order through Amazon prime for tomorrow between 9-11. I ordered 2 weeks worth to get up to £40 so I could have free delivery. Hopefully most of the stuff will be in stock in the morning after they have replenished the shelves.

Yes, took an early trip to supermarket, because I am nearly out of loo roll, and, yes managed to bag the last 9 rolls of a certain brand I use with obvious gaps on the shelves, again! Only the cheaper stuff that disintegrates as soon as you look at it, or the expensive ones with 'shea whatever infused' stuff left, do not like scented/greasy loo roll....

Gov should not say 'don't panic buy' because, well people only seem to hear the last 2 words of that phrase! Even went to a certain DIY store, and it was heaving, queues in and queues out to pay. Will not be visiting that one for a while..... hope you get your proper order filled.

Found some cooked pork in the freezer. Fried some onions, added the pork & curry powder, frozen peas and added some gravy made from gravy granuals. Curry pork with half a pack of micro rice 😋

I should have enough food left to stretch to 4 days of breakfast, lunches & dinners. Hopefully at least enough food for a week will arrive tomorrow.

  • First frost of the year today. Had a lovely walk in the sun with the dog, the trees in autumn colour and white crisp frost on the grass. 😁

Had a message from prime at 6.55am to say they had started picking my order. I accepted 2 substitutes for butter & sausages. Pork gluten free chipolatas instead of old English. Not sure what the difference gluten free is but I’m sure they will be just as nice in the sausage & herby tomato casserole I’m going to make with them. The only item not coming is the gammon joint as the substitute was smoked gammon and I am not keen on smoked meat.

So there will be chicken, bacon, sausages, herb crust pork loin joint, as well as bread, milk, potatoes, rice, veg, etc and I will work out a meal plan later for the next 2 weeks. Total cost £41.34
