Thanks Ren. It shouldn’t be too hard to empty my room. The mattress will need 2 of us & will go on top of the bed in the spare room. The chest of drawers have bun feet & slide on the carpet. The bed base is very light & comes in 2 halves. Was just a cheap wood frame divan with fabric over & only meant as a temporary measure but ended up lasting years. The wardrobe will have to stay in the room as it’s too tall with the top box attached to get through the door. DS will lie it down on its side once empty.

I agree with the dog shedding & carpet but I have priced up the cost of laminate or lino and do not have the funds at the moment. I may just lift the carpet and see what the floorboards are like. Not sure how much it would cost to hire an industrial sander.

Just back from walking the dog.

Weight today was 10st 11 lost another lb ☺️  Weight was 11st 5 on  10/5/20. Not on a diet just cut back on chocolate, crisps, cake & ice cream 😊

  • Best thing I did was lifting the carpet, seems to be so much less cat fur (she seems to shed loads all year round), now it's barely noticeable.
A sander shouldn't be too much, probably about £25-40 per day, depending on what type you hire, just seal the room off before doing it so avoid dust going everywhere.
Even if the floorboards have been changed, or a little rough around the edges, TLC will make a difference as will the colour varnish.
Many moons ago I used a belt sander to do a room, then put a whitewash on. Looked impressive even though the boards were a bit funky in places, never noticed them.

    Congratulations on the weightloss 🤗

  • OMG hello you have done so much. Cooked, decorated, sorted out some brilliant savings and repaired the vacuum cleaner too. The bedroom sounds lovely. I hope you are having a rest now.
Aiming for a minimal spend 2022
  • Rested too much earlier 😴and now I can’t sleep 😳

Later today (Monday) I am dog walking then working until lunch time. I’ve booked a table at our local pub for lunch with a friend 😊

Then I will be taking the dog to the vet for her annual checkup and jabs. Will also collect flea treatment and worming tablets.  Price all included in her care plan that DS pays monthly (she is his dog).

DS is working & his gf is also starting to return to work some days after working from home/shielding. It seems very strange when they are both out at work and it’s just me & the dog. I can’t see my office being fully reopened any time soon. I am likely to be working from home for the foreseeable future until next year / vaccine found as they can’t fit us all in & be covid safe.

Have been talking with DF about meeting halfway up M1 again. It depends on the weather and after 25 degrees tomorrow it’s forecast to drop to 15 degrees by wed /Thursday. 🥶 As DF doesn’t like to go inside the services we will have to hope for a warmer day in October & I will need to budget for petrol. Working from home I’ve hardly bought any petrol so £40 should be enough.

  • Good news on saving the hoover - that's a relief! Sorry to read you didn't sleep well, hope you sleep better tonight, and yes, such weird times. At least you can enjoy some peace working from home. People I've spoken to have said they are more productive, saved more, and enjoy the flexibility of the work/life balance...

Shame about not seeing your DF though - it looks like autumn is coming this week, but, you never know, you might find the odd week in October a bit milder again because the weather is so all over the place now...?

  • Have just seen this in the latest b& q leaflet that came through the letterbox 😆 When my shed finally falls apart I am getting one of these! No painting! Better start another savings pot. 😊

  • I'm sure you will find a way to see DF, after all I imagine he's part of your bubble.

Well done on sorting your vacuum, the money saved by not replacing it will pay for that swanky shed!

Pub lunch sounds great, it's been a little while since you're been. Do tempt us with your food 😁

  • Unfortunately DF won’t form a bubble. He’s too worried about getting corona and after what he went through almost dying of sepsis I don’t blame him. So he is still isolating. Hopefully there will be a nice autumn day we can have a socially distanced meeting outside.

Lunch was lovely spent £10.99. Comfort food was consumed, steak & ale pie, chips & peas & large Diet Coke. 😊

However the ordering etc was a right faff by the time I had downloaded the app & ordered on my crap phone! Was later going to order a child’s dessert, chocolate brownie & ice cream, but made a hash of it and managed to block both my credit card and debit card! Phoned the bank when I got home and sorted. I think it was trying to make another small purchase £1.19 with the same retailer that flagged up their fraud proceedure.

Took puppy dog to the vet for her Annual check up & vaccination. She loves going to the vets and the lovely receptionists that make such a fuss of her. Not so keen on the nasty vet who had to drag her out the back and jab her 😆

Took her for a nice walk after on the country path & field next to the car park.

We didn’t have the kennel cough vaccine this year. The vet asked if we had anyone immune suppressed & DS gf has been shielding. Apparently kennel cough vaccine can affect humans & she would be at risk. Never knew that. However if the dog catches kennel cough surely she will possibly pass it on anyway? Will leave it to DS & his gf to discuss & decide (pd is his dog). Vet said she can always have it later for free as part of her plan that DS pays for.

Tomorrow I will walk the dog then after work I will go to aldi. Hopefully no return to panic buying that everyone is talking about. Wonder what Boris will announce tomorrow afternoon.

  • What a varied day you've had. Lunch sounded good.
Wasn't aware of the KC jab and potential problems with humans, learn something new every day.

I'm sure you will find a way to meet DF safely 🤗
