Did you get the painting finished?
PD definitely sounds a lot better now 🤗
You've finally got your refund, yaaaay!  The bonus from DF will help replenish your EF; really sweet of DF to round up 😊
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
  • Have paid £25 from shoe refund into emergency fund. I will need to buy another pair of walking shoes at some point. My walking “sandals” are ok for now but the memory foam insole has gone a bit flat. I bought some new insoles for my old work shoes pre lockdown & have never used them. £1 from pound shop. I think I will cut them to size just to add a bit of extra Cushion / foot support when I’m walking the dog & start looking for some autumn / winter walking shoes.

Started the day with good intentions about food but didn’t all go to plan
B - mashed fresh strawberries (instead of jam) on seeded bread toast.
    S- tea & biscuits 🍪🤦‍♀️
L - chicken & roasted veg with salad & rocket on a herby wrap
    S - tea & biscuits 🍪🤦‍♀️
D - 1/2 an Indian takeaway chicken tikka Massala with half a pack of microwave rice
2 popadoms. (Free so had to eat them 😉)
    strawberry trifle 🍧🤦‍♀️

A few takeaways here are doing buy 1 / get 1 free meals. I ordered 1 meal & got 1 free with delivery £8.95. I used half a pack of micro basmati 50p & the meals have 6-7 large pieces of chicken so I have split them into 4 meals. Cost Approx £2.23 each & 3 will go into the freezer once cooled.

I now have no crisps, cake, chocolate, ice cream or biscuits in the house ! Plan is not to buy any more. I plan to eat more fruit instead & I am going to blitz & freeze some bananas to make banana “ice cream”. Just waiting for the bananas to ripen as they are a bit green.

Exercise = dog walk 30 mins -only went to the field next to the park & back today & dog ran around after her ball.
Decorating- 2 hours 10 mins up & down ladders etc

Your exercise would have balanced your meals. I do like how you portion your take-away for other meals.

Going to sound old now, but companies don't make footwear to last anymore 🙈
Not sure what size you are but I look in the kids and adult section, plus sale section of camping shops. I picked mine up for £5.

  • £5 is a bargain! I know things don’t last these days but I expect to get a year out of walking shoes. The soles are hardly worn but there is nothing worse than wet feet from walking on dewy grass.

I have already looked online at kids waterproof walking shoes. The cheapest is sports direct £19.99 but you have to pay £4.99 for delivery to home or to store. I am still off work next week so I may go into town again & see what there is in store. I think there is a millets in town too so I could see if they have a sale on.
It’s very hot here already. Took the dog out early today as it’s meant to be in the 30’s later. 🥵
No other plans apart from checking the bottom half of the dining area walls below the dado rail ready for painting tomorrow & filling any holes / cracks. The top half looks much better after the second coat yesterday.

  • Have walked the dog this morning on the field with her ball then had a steady plod back through the woodland area & round the pond. Saw the swans with their cygnets & a heron today. It was cloudy & cool. Forecast is hot again later. Sun is starting to burn off the cloud now.

Plans for today. Start painting the bottom half of the dining area walls. I need to mask the skirtings and round the radiator. I hope to do one coat on all 3 walls today. At least I don’t need to be up & down the ladders. I have a foam gardening kneeling pad which I will need to use to protect my poor old knees.

Have just had some banana & strawberries for breakfast. It’s quite warm indoors still and the heat seems to zap my appetite. Food for today
    B - bananas & strawbs
    L- chicken & salad wrap
    D - homemade burger & salad
Snacks will be cheese & pineapple, yoghurt.
Exercise = 30 mins walking dog
    2-3 hours painting.
Keep trying to encourage myself to carry on decorating by thinking how much it would cost to pay someone to do it. However that may just encourage me to save up to pay someone to do it next time 😆

The boots I got were in a kids section of an independent camping / walking shop; always waterproof them before wearing. I picked up two pairs, sadly when I moved I only took the one pair with me, but still lasting ok.
I buy the ballerina type shoes / pumps from SD 2 for £4.99 and usually buy 4 pairs at a time. Use as my work shoes.
Trainers I picked up from d3cath10n about 3 years ago.
Because of a health issue with my foot, I'm quite restricted to what I can wear, try the wrong footwear on and I've had it.

Food is looking good. Isn't it strange how we don't want to eat when it's too warm 🌞

I agree paying someone to do the work is easier, but think what else you could do with the money and how much further it would go. Alternatively, it's another step towards your overall goal.

Have a lovely day and don't overdo it 😊

  • Was just about to get changed & start decorating when I got a call from vm to say they were on their way to fix my tv box. They swopped it for a new one & everything is working again.

He left around 10am so I got changed & masked 2 walls, one of which has a large radiator. Gave that a coat of paint & filled some big gouges in the other wall with polyfiller. I will sand it tomorrow then a coat of paint on each.

It was so hot this afternoon I drove puppy dog to the nearby shoreline & she went for a swim. So hot tonight all fans are on but just moving hot air around. Puppy dog is laid on her cool mat. There is rain forecast for next week so hopefully that will cool things down

  • Quick update ... best laid plans & all that 😆 ...

Sanded down the wall I treated with filler yesterday & wiped up all the dust. Then had breakfast. Was just about to start decorating when DS’s gf appeared with puppy dogs cool mat. She made her & DS a cup of tea & went back upstairs & I fell asleep on the sofa in the kitchen 😆 Just woke up at 12 when they came down for food !

It was lovely & cool in the kitchen / diner and I didn’t sleep well last night with the heat, so I must have needed the extra 😴

So I won’t be painting today. DS is back to work tomorrow so I will start again then & have a rest day today. I am due to meet up with friends tomorrow for a late lunch in the afternoon around 2pm, which I am looking forward to but not sure how seating/ social distancing will work with 4 different households. We will be sitting outside & the forecast is sunny /warm, hopefully not too hot & hoping there will be shade / parasols to sit out of the sun
