I have tried putting my cancellation in on the web chat twice now but they are insisting that i wait for the letter/email. I could say i have it already, but not sure if they are aware when my letter/email gets sent.

Its a waiting game then. Virgin got a really good deal at the moment: even the highest speed (200mb) would be cheaper than what i am paying now to BT, before the price increase. I am probably lucky that either virgin and BT openreach based fibre services are decent in my area.

I phoned the yesterday about my offer to stay. At the moment I pay £32 for anytime calls and standard broadband, with my offer it goes to £35 and yes that is with the offer. The advisor didn't even try and get me to stay as the offer was crap, so just deciding what to do now as my street is getting FTTP installed at the moment.

You really are paying way too much for telephone, BB and unlimited calls, I took up the Sky offer recently and with unlimited calls my monthly bill is £20, notwithstanding a £50 cash back from TopCashBack - on the down side Sky have upped their charges by £20 per annum, which I'll fight - you have 30 days to move once notified of contract changes, so might be worth having in another week or two and do check CashBack sites when calculating full costs of any deals on offer.

Currently paying £10.99 for Infinity FTTC broadband along with BT TV (Line rental prepaid). According to the BT account website my price is going up from £10.99 to £16.99 a 55% increase.

I know I can leave mid-contract, but surely I shouldn't lose out on the line rental I have pre-paid due to this major increase? - I did take it all out at the same time (as a package) after all.

You can save more than £10 per month by switching to Origin, their 12 month contract for BB, Landline and anytime calls is £23.98 per month, TopCashBack are offer £40 cash back, meaning your cost is approx. £21 per month - if Sky don't make a decent offer with regards own notified price increase, Origin becomes compelling if happy with ASDL2 service.

I don't have fibre though. That rules out 90% of isps

But be aware that the Anytime basic package doesn't include calls to mobiles and the one including mobiles has a limit of 200 minutes. Caller display is £1.75 and fibre deals increase by £10 after 6 months.

If you're only paying £17 for Infinity and BT TV after the price goes up, you are still on a fairly good deal, think of it that way. Not sure where else can you match that, especially as you can't get a refund on the line rental (at least not without a fight), as that is one of the downsides of agreeing to sign up for it in advance.

Is my Line Rental Saver payment refundable?
No, unless you change your mind about wanting Line Rental Saver within 14 calendar days of paying. Or in exceptional circumstances such as a bereavement, or if you switch to BT Basic, Home Phone Saver or Line Rental Plus.

However, if you definitely want to leave, you need to raise it further than the first level customer service, or pursue it as a complaint. Search this forum, it has been done in the past.
