Has anyone actually managed to get a deal when they ask to leave? The best they can give me is £3 more expensive than I'm paying now, Its cheaper to go elsewhere and when I tell them this they don't even make an attempt to get you to stay

My notification email arrived this afternoon, my "exclusive" offer is upgrading to Infinity 2 @ £33.49 a month (currently on £26.99 a month for Infinity 1).

Sadly a quick look on comparison sites shows even with the £2.50 increase it is still cheaper than others available for this area

I had the email this afternoon too.

Very pleased I found this thread, as I renewed my contract on 26th January, prepaid the year's LR and agreed £9.50 a month (12GB standard BB, weekend calls). They are now advising that this will become £11.50. However, as someone posted the link to their announcement on here on 24th Jan, I know the guy I set the new deal up with would be aware of the impending increase, and he never mentioned it.

I have phoned to complain, but just got told "it's the same for everyone". So that's okay then  . Eventually he said he would raise a complaint and someone would get back to me, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm a bit trapped, also having two mobile SIMs on pretty good deals. I've been with BT ever since I bought the flat in 2008. Very disillusioned now.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Did they ask for the router and TV box back?

I asked them about that. They said they may but didn't say that they definitely would and "just to see what happens."

That's what I'm concerned about. I don't have mine anymore (I gave them away when I first signed up). I never expected to leave mid-contract, so I didn't think of this scenario. The problem I have now is if they do ask for them back and I can't return them, they will end up charging me goodness knows how much for them....

That is putting me off leaving the contract early (as well as the pre-paid line rental scenario).

I'd think if you leave mid-contract (without having renewed previously) there is a good chance they will ask for their equipment to be sent back, and they'll just add the cost of them to your final bill if they don't get them. What else would you expect them to do?

Particularly for the router, just buy one off ebay and send it to them, rather than them sticking with you for the price of a new one.

I wouldn't really expect it as they are the ones changing their terms.

However, I hadn't thought about the ebay route - that is a good idea.

They will bill for equipment thats on hire within the contract .Contract runs to full term and you own the equipment .

Hi - just wanted to update that I called BT a few days ago to cancel my contract and they processed it even though I hadn't received the letter yet. I just said I'd read about the price increases and wanted to cancel. He tried to argue with me that it was still the best price I'd get for fibre broadband but I responsed that the fibre speed is pretty useless and I'm not paying more for a sub-standard service. So he cancelled it no questions asked.

Only problem is the 30 days notice period - happy to pay it, but I've moved out of the house and new tenants move in tomorrow! Think I'll call them ask for the line to be disconnected so my (fictional) partner can move his service to my address.

Thanks for the advice here everyone.
