Sky following suit with a 9% increase in line rental. Isn't competition great?

While possibly losing all of the Discovery channels.

Animal Planet, Discovery HD, Discovery History, Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Science, Discovery Shed, Discovery Turbo, DMAX, Eurosport1, Eurosport2, Investigation Discovery, Quest and TLC

I signed up to a new 12 month contract last Thursday. It wasn't the best deal as we moved house in September last year which renewed my line rental contract for 12 months! So I had very little bargaining power..
However as I'm still within the 14 days to cancel my new broadband contract should I do so and instead wait for my increase letter which will allow me to cancel broadband and line rental?

I also signed a new deal exactly 14 days ago after I moved from BT to Plusnet - BT took me seriously and offered the following:
LRS for 12 months (equivalent to £17.09/month)
BT Infinity 2 for £14/month, for 24 months.
Effective total per month is £31.09.

I've just spoken with someone in retentions to confirm if my deal would be honoured, or if an extra £2.50 would be added from April.

I was told that I was on a 'save deal', so my agreed price would be honoured for the 12/24 months. I'd still like confirmation from others if they've been told the same (or if BT have just told me what I wanted to hear)...

If you check on their 'price change' website it will confirm the exact changes (if any) to your particular deal:

Just checked the personalised price on the link, but it actually makes it more confusing...

    It states:
"Your product: Unlimited BT Infinity 2 + Calls
    Is going up by: £2.50

On 13th January 2019 your discount ends and your package price will go from £16.50 to the standard price of £35.00."

So, my deal was for Infinity2 at £14 for 24 months. However, the personalised information implies that my current price has the £2.50 increase built in (£14.00+2.50), until it ends in January 2019.

If it was correct, it would state £14 per month until January 2019 and then £35.
  • i have put my cancellation in - no need to wait for letter as its on their home page and on the link above.

Did they want the equipment back? - Did you have prepaid line rental (if so, are they refunding) ?

You will probably find on your current bill that your £14 is based on a higher figure, but with a discount applied at the moment. My current infinity 1 is £12.50, it's actually £26, with a £13.50 discount applied. When the new prices come in, the £13.50 discount still applies but it will go from £26 to £28.50

    That's what I'm worried about.

In my case the £28.50 price will apply after I finish my contract, at which point I'll find another deal, so not something to worry about.
