Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Congratulations, Raphael. Hope everything goes smoothly.
Yesterday I walked to the health centre for my overdue asthma and blood pressure checks. All the walking must be helping as my blood pressure was perfect and the breathing test was the best it's been in years. Have fallen off the wagon a bit with the healthy eating so have to get back on board with that big style. When I go back next January I am determined to have lost this weight!!! The haggis pie that I bought at the local butcher's yesterday hasn't helped either my weight or my spending but it was delicious.
Unfortunately, we had some further though not entirely unexpected bad news concerning my brother's illness. He has to see an oncologist in the next few days so we're hoping that something a little more positive may come from that. I'm trying to just accept the situation and concentrate on supporting my sister in law but I feel very sad.
    Grateful for
Good results for my health checks
Supportive and caring partner and son
Beautiful, cold day for a walk through the park (it's looking lovely)

Really sorry about your brother's situation TF I'm not surprised you are sad.

  • Evening all :coffee:
It's SO cold out there I can't feel my fingers and toes, and I'm not even out there! I'm in the house. Just waiting to pick dd up from her gymnastics class and then call it a night.
Thanks for offering to run Feb Abundant. I will be in - I need to stay on the straight and narrow.
Kind of forced nsd today as I'm still 4 days from payday. However dh took pity on me and put some money into my account as he got paid today - bless him. I'm determined not to use it though.
    Today I'm grateful for:
    My lovely dh
Catching up on my marking at work
Finally getting a bit more sleep at night.

    - Finally remembering Only Connect has changed to Friday nights. Keep missing it and I do really love it.

Me too - and I remembered for the first time tonight - only to find bloomin' Eurovision wannabes on instead :(

  • Went for a long walk as today. Unfortunately it took me past Lidl and, you've guessed it, I succumbed to the yellow stickers. Came out with two packets of cod fillets, a packet of diced pork, a steak and free range chicken, none of which we needed but at least they'll be used. Actually the steak has already gone - son had it for dinner. I'm rubbish at resisting food bargains - really have to get it under control.
It's been really cold so at the moment I'm grateful for being in a nice warm. cosy bed with a cup of tea and a good book.
    Have a good weekend.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • Didn't manage a NSD today - DH needed milk and I had a list anyway. Couldn't get broccoli or courgettes so subbed a mahooosive Savoy cabbage.

Hoping for a NSD tomorrow although we have guests for lunch and possibly dinner. I may need snacks. Or not. Actually, if they want to snack they can bring. I'll serve from the freezer. They'll survive.

    Grateful today:

    1) A wonderful friend cheering me up - we went for a sprint intervals run and then she dyed my eyelashes and brows.

    2) A glorious cold crisp day.

    3) Lots of energy today. Gym and a run. It put me in a much better frame of mind (which is just as well as a client phoned my mobile - not the office to ask whether i was working today! Thankfully I was calm enough by then not to snap at him)
    Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18
    Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o

Well we've already come to a hurdle.
She has withdrawn the agreement, and now wants the full asking price. I think she is stuck between the ex (who owns the house with her) and the new bf.

We have begged and borrowed and have come up with the £5000 extra, we really don't want to lose this house. We have agreed to the full amount, which is still an awesome price for the house, on the condition she fixes the windows and leaves the white goods. We can sell those to repay some people!

    Now awaiting her response.
If she decides to push up the price we will have to walk away. The agent has cancelled all other viewing so no-one should be able to scoot in around us and pip us to the post.
Keep all your fingers & toes crossed guys!

In more positive news, yesterday and today were/are both NSDs, so I'm now on 17. I'm hoping I can get to the end of the month without spending, so I should reach 20.

Grrr  - I hate the English system of house selling. Once an agreement is struck the honourable thing to do is stick to it :(

Definitely stick to your guns on this one - you have met the request (and submitted yours: - ie white goods and windows) - get the solicitors to confirm this in writing if it progresses - people can renege on lots of things (she says, with bitter experience) x

    Afternoon All...

I've had a productive morning... Written February's Challenge which I will post up tomorrow morning. Been to the gym, and now home. Got a stinking cold  so am staying in the rest of the day.

Hugs to Bobarella and Raphael... both waiting for news that is important to you - and little you can do but wait. Whatever happens - you got us all here ok!

    Today I am grateful for:
    I) Our cat. He made me smile by chasing my shoe laces as I was trying to go out this morning. So cute!!!
ii) My gym owner for always being encouraging and positive.
iii) To NSK for originally starting the thread - and everyone else who has added and built upon it. I hope I can do it justice next month!

Have an awesome day folks :)

  • Sorry, another week has passed in a blur.

Sun and Mon were spend days - took DD and her friends to town on Sun so they shopped while I drank coffee!!

Tues, Weds and Thurs were NSD's taking me to 13.

Fri was a spend day as got a craving for fizzy drink when I left work and today we have popped to town and got some food shopping and tonight we have the village quiz (I guess this would count towards my charity donation as it is in aid of our chapel)

Hoping to make the last few days of the month NSD's.

FurryBeastOz - sorry I am late to the car key saga (great news that it was found) but wanted to say this happens to us all the time and we believe it is DH's dad, he died 17 years ago and was a bit of a joker. We lose keys on a regular basis, we can spend hours hunting for them and then we find them the next day where we usually leave keys despite checking there loads of times.
DD once threw her phone in a fit of rage, it all came apart and she couldn't find the back of the phone anywhere. Her room is tiny and the corner she threw it in was tidy so no where for it to go. We hunted through the whole room trying to predict where it might have gone to no avail. The next day it turned up in her underwear drawer which is at least 1 metre from where she chucked her phone and the drawer was closed anyway!!!

I know we have a volunteer for Feb but I am happy to do another month, if mothernerd (Happy Belated Birthday) is well enough for March I can do April but if not I am happy to do March.
