  • Thanks for running this month's thread mistara. I've managed 16 NSDS - so one day above my target. So how did I do?:

    Usual rules:
    The challenge runs from January 1st to January 31st.
    Set a NSD target, aim for at least 15.going for - 16 out of 15 - pass!
    Donate to a charity - will do - £10 to Help the Aged - pass!
    Pay to your debt or savings first - have done this already - pass!
    Post as often as you can try for every day epic fail!

    January's rules:
    Look at your usual food budget and aim to spend 10% less. Do a stock take of everything in your freezer/fridge/cupboards - I seem to have heaps of food left over from Christmas despite thinking that I hadn't bought that much! - I'm away from home at the moment so will stock take when I get back. - fail!
    Post 3 things that you are grateful for each time you post - as posted above - pass!
    Post something that you would like to have achieved by the end of 2017 - think about how you will achieve this, break your goal down into small achievable steps. - as posted above - passed!
    Organise some cheap (free if possible) things to do with family or friends. I'm away with DD and her OH and will be out for a nice long walk later and also each day till Tuesday! January is a long and usually boring month, it's nice to have things to look forward to - sort of passed!

    See you on the other side!

    Sorry! Gratitudes today:

    - Laughs with my friend whilst sitting outside Pret;
    - Nice glass of champagne on the firm supplied as one of the senior members of staff was leaving;
    - Homemade chili con carne which has been defrosting today so I just had to heat it up when I got in from work!

    Thanks for running the thread misstara. I have not had a brilliant month but have taken on board the goal setting and have been thinking a lot about how to achieve these. I have actually done some active stuff but realised there are some areas where what I have been doing wasn't working, so have been coiming up with different ideas/ different wways of working.

    One of the BHF's points for successful goal setting and keeping going was 'not comparing' yourself to others. Think they had 'celebrity' magazine articles in mind but I think my worst bit is comparing myself to how I used to be. I have to accept how I am now, accept that I will never do the can can again and then work on being the best 'current me' that I can be - hope that makes sense.

    Today I am glad of a few hours sleep, for feeling fitter (racing round the car park at 4am) and for this month's challenge for making me look at things differently and working on a realistic strategy.
    My mission in life is not only to survive,but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

    As January comes to a close

    Positives - achieved my target of 15NSDS, paid debts/savings, gave to charity, and met up with friends.

    Negatives - did not post as much as I wanted to & allowed focus to drift from what I had intended to do at the start of year regards food budgeting and year goals.

    Looking forward to getting February underway and making progress on all the things that haven't been achieved yet.

    Grateful for
    #1 family,friends & pets,
    #2 a home that is dry & warm,
    #3 (so far) avoiding all the illness bugs currently doing the rounds
