    :hello:Hi All

Today I am grateful for odd things.
The washing up, (told you it was odd) because it is cold here and the water was lovely and warm, and it stopped my hands from being sore after pulling a million panel pins out of a door I de-panelled this morning. So I de-pinned another one. :j That makes 3/8 finished. Whoever decided 4 panel wood doors were ugly anyway?

Nice Tea and Coffee - I decided last year that I would buy the brands I liked based on taste not on budget. Yes it is more expensive, but I don't drink, don't smoke and am tied to the house from 7pm (1st kids bedtime) and having a cuppa that never disappoints is so worth it. Every cup is a pleasure. I appreciate it and am grateful. So it is Twinings Earl Grey all the way. Bliss.

I am also grateful DH is away in Portugal at a conference. I can sleep with the radio on, I can read til 2am on a school night if I want, I can watch the most appalling rubbish on tv !!. I could do all of this anyway, but out of consideration for him I don't.
Now I don't have to consider him until Sunday. I get to please myself.
I will also be grateful to get him back, cos I do like him.

We buy things based on taste too. Will go for the cheaper brands, but when it comes to somethings like wheatabix, only the brand will do.
I had an arguement with my ex once, as I wanted to buy proper HP brown sauce after the disgusting own brand had finally been used up after months of being in the cupboard untouched.
She argued that the more expensive stuff disappeared more quickly.
I answered "Yes, because we actually eat it!" No point in paying pennies if it just sits in the cupboard.

Today I have achieve NSD number 6, and I have also discovered a work-around in work, that while it took me an hour to set up, will make a monthly 2 hour task just 10 minutes long!

    Today I am grateful for:
    1) PJs, hotwaterbottles and slippers.
    2) The simple pleasures of a nice cup of tea.
    3) Sillyness and giggles in work.

I'm another one who will buy certain brands - have tried cheaper ones but to no avail - I would rather pay a bit more and have people enjoy it / actually eat it in some cases! :D I tend to try and stock up a bit if I see the branded ones on offer :)

Not NSD today - bought snuggly joggers for DS2 and DS3 and picked up some groceries at same time. Should still hopefully be ok come month end... fingers crossed! Also had to pay out for Scouts and Beavers term fees.

Spent 3.5hrs volunteering at a charity today :) and put 1 more thing in CS bag. Really felt like I'd achieved lots today, which was great :)

Food so far from existing stores (porridge for breakfast, lo pasta for lunch) Lacking inspiration for dinner (have fed children) - may resort to egg & chips!

    Today I am thankful for:
    * the shop having both sizes of joggers in stock
    * a parking space right by the store (notoriously busy store car park usually!)
    * the total joy from DS3 at his new Leg0 figure arriving today (in the sale for <£5 and bought with his Xmas money)

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Mothernerd Glad you are still here. Iceland is such a bargaintastic shop. Plus if you get the snow that's predicted you'll be all set. Glad you got to the docs too.

32b How lovely your great neice sounds.

Calling Sorry you are still feeling low and ill.

I'm in total agreement on only brand dropping what you don't mind. For me I have found that I can't stand own brands of gravy, only bisto will do. I have to use HP sauce or Daddies at a push. Although Stokes is devine! And hello my name is Bob and I am a Lurpack addict :)

Bonus NSD as I did not go to crafts. Not being a wimp, just getting better at learning when to push on and when to rest. Had a lovely day not doing much. Have put all yesterday's spending down for the moment - not found my receipt yet but I know I have it.

Lovely day, apart from the wind. Odd autumn leaves flying upwards past the bedroom window. Have been out to bring back the emptied bin, pick up the one that had blown over and move them all into a square next to the outside wall.

Today I am grateful for sleep, a bright sunny day and lots to watch on the car park and easy food (plus pleasure of DS3 and Beloved being happy little bunnies).

    paracetamol
    free tea at work

Tonight I am grateful for electricity.

Ours keeps dipping for a few seconds, but coming back on but the power company has a total outage 3 miles up the road where we used to live. They are messing about trying to find the problem. You don't know what you've got til its gone.

Today I am grateful for getting a good long walk with dh in the best of today's weather, for a phone call from big sis, for mum's mri scan going well (haven't got the result, obviously, but mum remained calm and they were able to do the scan), for dd and I making cake and chocolate crispies, for having more than enough.

  • Hello! Been a very hectic few days with a friend staying over on Mon and a long long day at work today. Not NSD either, but pre-planned dinner out on Mon (yummy, and filled up on veg/salad as got none in house really!) which we managed to incorporate replacing blown indicator bulb at same time as our catch up, saving me Halfords fee. Was actually super easy, I cam do that myself next time.
NSD and too long day at work yesterday. Had a use it up tea which vaguely resembled a cooked breakfast without any meat. Scrummy but not hugely healthy, but there wasnt very much of any one thing on the plate.
Splitting headache and too long at work today. Ended up buying dinner and headache tablets from canteen. £7! But to be honest if I hadn't eaten /drink / dosed up then it would have spiralled into too much pain to drive home, sickness etc. Eventually felt better enough to come home. Hot bath, aloe heat lotion, more water, feel OK now. Boss was due to call for update on something but his train very delayed. Decided in end to have my bath to try to relieve pain even though he hadn't called me back, which was slightly surreal as I kept thinking he might call, and how to disguise the sloshing sounds. Luckily, I was out before it happened!
    Totally surreal week at work.
    Greatful for:
    Ibuprofen
Healing power of heat, and access to it
Lovely canteen lady who looked after me, and gave me a extra slice of quiche as they were nearly closing!
Inspirational colleagues and a job that is a passion and a privilege (if also a bit stressful and hard work!)

    Yesterday's gratefuls:
Fried egg! Actually was the first time I have ever cooked one of those. I remembered someone saying that adding a fried egg tops off your meal and helps fill you up. It did!
    Help from a colleague
    Phone call from a friend
    Possible airbnb booking

    Mondays:
Cherished friendship and help doing my car light
Fun on the way home, laughing like kids!
Messages from DD. She was listening, a bit!

Will catch up on thread properly tomorrow when headache has gone completely. Hope everyone is ok and splurging a bit less than me!

Hectic couple of days at work and today and tomorrow will be the same, topped off by parents evening today, meaning a 12 hour day in school :(

    - winning slimmer of the week and getting a free fruit basket
    - the efforts of a particular pupil to do well, even though her home life is awful
    - my second hygienist appointment going well and wasn't too uncomfortable
