Lousy commute today. Only real snow problems were in the two miles across the moors from home. The rest of the problems were bad driving. However, I do need to get my tyres checked. At least one skid on the way home which shouldn't have been.

Small spends - I really wanted? needed? the snoods/neck warmers in Aldi and I'm not back in Ayr until Tuesday so I didn't want to wait until then. So I picked up some Super six while I was in. Shouldn't need to shop now until next Tuesday:D

    Today I am grateful for:

    1) A fully prepared snow kit just in case.

    2) The microwave my boss bought for the office (a request from me when taking the job:D). Hot porridge on arrival in work at 10am after being in the gym at 0630.

    3) Birds Custard. I'm just about to make my protein full version to have over fresh fruit and feel smug about it:rotfl:

Hope everyone else had a great day.

Which side are you? Took me 2.5 hrs to get from Milngavie to Ayr this morning!

What are you finding expensive about eating super healthy particularly? I've managed to shave quite a lot off my budget and doing high protein/low carb and fat.

I am travelling up to Glasgow from the north east!

I am doing the Body Coach plan (again) and DH started a plan with the gym which was 600g chicken a day plus eggs and fish! Thinking about it we have spent a lot on meat; a £50 meat box, £30 on chicken and £15 on cooked meat. DH says he never wants to eat chicken ever again he has had to eat so much. He will go back to eating similar to me this week which means the rest of the chicken and some of the beef will last next month too.

We waste a bit of fresh stuff though I buy less fruit now and have swapped to frozen veg where I can.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
  • Evening all :hello:
Congrats on slimmer of the week Fmess - especially sticking with it when you're so busy at work as well.
Hope everyone is doing ok in this rotten weather as well. So far *touch wood* we haven't had any snow - it's blimming cold though. I've put the frost cover on the car in the hope of saving time tomorrow.
I've had another busy day at work today and ds managed to break his school bag, so we had a spend day going off to replace that. While we were out I decided to use vouchers I had to get dinner for me and the kids. Naughty eating out but it saved me a job, and I don't do it very often anyway.
Things I am grateful for today:
    No snow so far
Having strangely helpful kids as far as housework is concerned
Some TV time to myself. :D

    Evening All!
Today was a spendy day, but I think I am going to return most of it, so not as spendy as I thought it was going to be. In fact it may turn out rather frugal. I am looking at door knobs, it is as fascinating as it sounds..... honestly.

Today I am grateful for :

a warm car - it was so cold and wet waiting on the playground for the kids to be let out of class. I did it all on foot for seven years until I learnt to drive. I am thankful every time I don't have to walk in torrential rain and change clothes after every trip out.

The scaremongered THUNDER SNOW OF DOOM did not arrive. It has not yet arrived, we will see if it does. Didn't fancy driving in it. Turned out I did not have to. Yay

Having enough food in the house to not need to go shopping with 4 kids in tow. Never ends well. Don't have to go until Sunday at the earliest. Hooray!

    Have a great evening everybody

I had my first music lesson of the year today after the holiday break. I don't count my lesson cost as a spend as it's budgeted for, so a little cheaty, but it works for me :D I'm practicing for Grade 7, which I need to enter this year, as we've been practicing the same pieces for a year now and I need to get brave and book the exam. They have set dates, and I think March is too soon, so I shall book in for July.

After my lesson my bestie popped round for our usual Thursday gossip, then we took Duncan to his puppy party. It's run by the vets, so always full of useful info like first aid advice & the like. We pay £12.50 a month to the vets for the Pet Club, and it includes these socialisation classes, all his vaccinations, worming and flea stuff. It includes microchipping as well, but as the breeder had already chipped him, we had a £15 voucher to spend in the vet shop instead (so we came home with armfuls of toys). It saves us a ton of money.

    January's rules:
NSD: 7/25 - Another one claimed today.
    Food budget. £68.73/£120
Things I am grateful for today:
    1) I'm grateful we don't have to deal with the awful landlord that our upstairs neighbours have. They are living in mold and the roof is leaking through their ceiling but she refuses to fix anything. They have reported her to the council who are coming round on Monday for an inspection.
    2) A nice gossip with a friend, to put the world to rights.
    3) Duncan did his first wee out on a walkies today, he's fine with going out in the yard, but hadn't quite worked out he was allowed to go on a walk. He'd hold it til he was home. He got lots of praise.
    4) Torrential rain - I love it

    2017 aims:
    1) Weight loss - So far I'm slightly ahead of my 1lbs a week target. Only 2 days in, but feeling positive.

Today I am grateful for a good day at work, for taking the next steps towards being able to cycle to work (and change/wash/store smelly clothes), for the sole of my boot only falling off on the way home (yikes), for prompt buses, for the snowfall (I adore the stuff!).

  • Evening all! Well done on healthy eating, exercise, and all the money saving activity! I am late checking in but doing so has inspired me to root around in freezer for something for DD tomorrow. I have a long day - v early start and then pick her up at 6. Was thinking....takeaway but now it's...random left overs reheated!

Have done well with NSDs this month so far - largely by only working and sleeping to be honest - but need fresh fruit and veg for the weekend. Am really looking forward to it! Aldeee here I come!

No heating tonight despite slush outside, was strangely not too cold with it. Temp dropping now but duvet and hwb are fine. I did just set it to come on for a blast first thing in the morning as a treat as I need to get up and meet the day promptly tomorrow, and will be working from home all day.
No other real news except like LL I am headache clear tonight too for first time in a week! Night all x
  • Grateful for:
Car heater. Didn't have a functioning one for 2 years, still get a buzz on days like today that now works!
Lovely colleagues and a strong network that helped me deliver on something tricky today.
Stamina and Resilience. I do OK at that you know, and am grateful that I can bounce back from griefy stuff (whilst wishing I didn't have to!)
Hot water bottles. Just assume I post that every day through to August. I'm a year round HWB junkie.
