Keep a close eye on them. He could be at risk.

DS had a girlfriend, who seemed to be the one for a while. However, he said once that if he was ever stabbed it would be by her! A solicitor, too.

He had enough of her volatility.

My stepson has been with his girlfriend for just under a year.
His mum is a bit flaky, but his dad would take him in, like a shot, as I would my partner and I.
His mum, his dad, your partner....how many parents does he have...

I had biological mum, step dad, biological dad and step mum if my step dad had lived long enough to have another relationship whoever it was with would have been another step mum as far as I'm concerned.
    Families come I many shapes
  • Make sure he knows that, tell him often

I do. I class myself as being so lucky that he still bothers with me, even though his dad and I split up some years ago. He really is a top lad. :)

Not what you want to hear! Funnily enough, guess what this one is studying to be...

Any of his family there at this meal or whose family meal was it?

Who was the other person who saw this, did you speak with them about this?

Why did you alone follow them out if they left early?

Sounds like you were on high alert when no one else was. Anyway...

Note sure why it is relevant, but I will explain.

His natural mum and dad divorced when he was five. His natural mum wanted nothing to do with him, because vodka was more important. I became his stepmum when he was 8. I split with his dad when my stepson was 15, but as I was his mother figure at that point, we shared residence and contact, which was my stepson's choice. When I met my new partner, my stepson came as part of the deal, and my partner accepted him without issue.

I hope that's acceptable to you.

It was my family, but as he's classed as family, he's always invited to any celebrations that we have. Most people's attention was focused at the other end of the table, as a four year old was explaining to everyone about his new baby sister, and showing her off. There was a lot of cooing and laughter, especially from the women. My partner had gone to the bar, to get them a drink each, so he didn't see it.

It was my sister's husband that saw it, and he just turned to me and raised his eyebrows. I haven't spoken to him about it.

I'm not sure why I followed them out - I certainly wasn't expecting to see anything else and I wouldn't say that I was on high alert. At that point, she'd been a model girlfriend for the whole evening, to the point of being sickly sweet. I would normally walk him to the car, and give him a hug, so maybe there was a bit of that, but I felt a bit awkward, because his girlfriend was there, so I hung back.

I think you should tell him that you felt her behaviour was unacceptable.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
