I've had the automated call for the boiler numerous times.
Just wondering, would it be worth me playing along i.e pressing 1 to speak to someone, pretend to be interested and presumably get to waste a lot of their time, especially if they send a salesman out to me.
Has anyone tried this and if so what happened?0 -
I have had 3 conservatories, 13 set of windows, 2 new roofs, gutters, downpipes, 26 boilers all fitted free of charge in the last fortnight. It pays to speak to these people.0

The last call I had called me a...well it won't let me say....but it was rude. As long as you can take the occasional abuse then yeah you can play along. It's highly doubtful they'll sell your number on if you don't bite but sometimes it can be fun.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I want to install BT Guardian call blocking and buying the BT 8600. All the information states you need to pay for BT caller ID but I currently am with BT and have an old Panasonic set of phones and they have caller display and I've just checked my bills and I don't pay BT for caller ID. Surely if your handset has the screen to show who's calling from your contact list then you wouldn't need to pay BT for the service. Before I go and spend the money please can someone clarify this for me. Thank you.0

Yes it sounds like you have it already.
I think you get it with BT privacy if you have that ?
Sky and EE do caller display for free.0 -
Caller ID shows the number that's calling .
So you would need to block all calls not on your caller list on your phone .
No other calls will be able to get through .0 -

To be able to see who is calling you need both a handset that can show who is calling and caller ID set up on your line. (Whether your provider makes you pay for this service is a separate issue!)0 -
The whole point of the BT 8500 and 8600 is that caller's numbers you know and have been pre-approved get straight through and all others hear a verbal challenge which they have to answer before your phone will ring. Automated diallers and junk callers will hang up without your phone ever ringing. You can also issue family and friends with a PIN code to bypass the verbal challenge should they ever need to call from a different number.
If your other units are showing the caller's number, the service has already been activated. Caller ID comes included with some BT call plans and services.0 -
We have called ID, but don't think we pay?0
