BT Call blocking phones

Stopthem buy a BT 8500 phone .
I can recommend these.
I got fed up with answering the landline to yet another chancer, salesperson or whatever else. Saw one of these on special offer and figured I'd give it a go.
Since having it, I can see from the 'missed calls' bit that salesfolk and scammers dialling my number don't even bother trying to get through once they hear the recorded message asking them to announce who they are. It can be configured to auto-accept calls from numbers in the memory and syncs info to other handsets around the house.
Really helpful piece of kit.0 -
I concur with the advice to get a BT 8500 phone.
Can be bought for under 30 quid, and they are excellent - the phone doesn't even ring if they are cold callers / international scammers.0 -
Just like to add my thumbs up for the BT 8500 phone it is an absolute godsend - so easy and very effective.0

I seem to get cold calls to my mobile. About time these cold calling numbers were named and shamed.0

Why on earth should we be paying more for phones/services to stop cold callers when you are already paying more than enough to an operator who should be stopping them for nothing1 :mad:0

Having got caller display added to my phone, due to umpteen unwanted calls
Was chuffed that I could block unwanted numbers and any that were withheld number, absolute Bliss for 3 weeks doing this...then... one got through yesterday, just "incoming call" and no number
Have the cold callers got a way round this call barring?. Hope not:(0 -
All depends upon what you block .0

Likewise. I blocked the last caller number and they started phoning me from a withheld number. I blocked all withheld numbers and they are now phoning me from 00. I have been on the telephone preference for about 10yrs am ex directory and get at least 20 calls a week. I asked my provider for a new number and they declined but I think a lot of it has stemmed from them. The main culprit are THE GREEN DEAL and it is a recorded message and I have pressed the number at the end of the message to opt out. This has been going on for years. Looks like the only way round it is to buy a new phone which you opt in to receive your known numbers. Seems a ridiculous length to go to stop this invasion. Bad news is that I am now starting to get calls on my mobile too and funnily enough it is with the same provider Talk Talk.0

Loads of calls from these sort of number nowadays .
BT 8500 phone handles all my calls nowadays rare to actually have to answer one .0 -
The only technology that seems to be foolproof is that based on trueCall (e.g. BT8500 or separate trueCall box).
Others seem to have various limitations, mostly that they will also block some of the calls that you did want to receive.0
