  • In for military again this week with 1 proviso. I have three 'baskets' of goods I need to buy before Christmas. If one of them comes up in a 'Black Friday' deal, I'm going for it. Otherwise I will stick to the no Xmas rule and put them through in December. I will NOT add anything to them however, so they are all budgetted for anyway.

However I am going to have to spend today - windscreen washer reservoir is frozen ! and we don't have any anti-freeze at home. So I'll top up the car at the same time. Shouldn't need anything else until the weekend as DH is in London on a course all week.

Dinner last night was very successful. Thrifty the vegan curry went down very well. Many thanks. 8 portions of leftovers in the freezer for the coming weeks.

Bleugh, just found a caterpillar in the HM scotch broth I took for lunch today. I already ate three portions of that. Must have come from the bag of kale I added. Oh, well, someone in the lab baked a chocolate cake and that'll be my lunch now. Could be worse ;)

Oh dear. That reminds me of a farmer saying to me once 'what is worse than finding a slug in your salad sandwich' , his answer was 'finding half a slug'.

I baked bread yesterday but DH was talking to me and I must have measured 400ml of water instead of 300ml so it was a disaster. I have baked again today (10 seeded rolls for lunch boxes) and have redeemed myself.

I have also made a batch of kidney bean falafels and chickpea falafels (16 of each), half of each batch has been frozen and the rest will be for tea tonight with warm pittas and salad.

It has rained non-stop here all day, heavily and with gusty wind. I have had to shove the dog off the doorstep to go for a walk, he loves to swim but hates rain.

  • So sorry to hear your sad news Ilovetea - what a nasty shock.
I'm definitely in for buy nothing day on Friday. I'm pretty much done in terms of my Christmas shopping, just a few little bits to sort out.
I had a day off school today - traditionally known as teacher's shopping day. I went out with my mam for shopping and lunch. She did the shopping and I did the eating, :rotfl: - being mam she insisted on buying lunch so I didn't spend too much. All from the Christmas budget as well...

    Hugs ilovetea.

Yesterday and today are NSDs. Mostly slept - including falling asleep sittng up. Not done much but have disinterred the clothes airer from their room and shuffled some clothes into the house. My 'big' goals are to walk to the Town Hall square (planned to sit in the sunshine on Sunday) and stay downstairs long enough to make mashed potato but not managed it yet.

Mostly eating ys bread rolls with cheese spread. Finished the cough medicine, the bacon soup, the satsumas, offspring have eaten all their mince and mine. Still have 2 portions of butter bean casserole and more soup in the freezer plus some chops and chicken breasts. Just need to stay awake and on my feet for long enough.

Today I am grateful for not running out of toilet rolls (Wednesday and Thursday will probably have to be my spendy days this week as I want to go to crafts and local history and may need to bus hop to those), for easy to eat and prepare food and for the changing tapestry of the car park.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

  • Terrible news about your poor friend Ilovetea - I'm so sorry.

I managed NSDs yesterday and today so that has taken me up to my full quota of 13 Civilian days! Will keep going though not sure how well I will continue doing as if I see any bargain Xmas pressies I will snap them up !

Perhaps I should aim for the middle road between Military and Civilian. How about a Territorial Army Turtle? :D

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days. Things haven't been going well here.
Money wise it's fine as I managed the 5 NSD last week and hope to do the same this week.
A friend and neighbour of mine went shopping the other day and got knocked down and killed. A big shock to all who new her.

Going to go for 5 NSD again this week.Need a big food shop as the freezer only has 3 things in it and the cupboards are looking bare. Ran everything down before the kitchen re-fit.
Internet keeps coming on and going off so I've got a big pile of stuff ready to e-bay when it decides to behave itself!!!
Hope every one has a good week

Oh lord. The buyer has upped his offer to £40 less than what I asked for. It is still a lot of money. Do I take it and run or hold firm for a better offer? The item has been on for 3 months with no offers....

Reserve forces these days! They got rebranded;)

BAD me. Went to Asda. Filled up on petrol and got screen wash. Got stuck in traffic and desperately needed the loo. Stopped at Mr W. Just consumed delicious pizza and chocolate cake. But I had a voucher, so only £2.25 actually spent. Really annoyed with myself.

But, ive saved on the underwear that was in my basket. They have run out of my size!
