  • Sorry for not checking in for a few days. Woke up on Saturday with a really sore throat and stayed in bed drinking lemon and ginger tea with honey so that I could go to dinner with the Canadian visitors. Just about managed to eat half a salad. Got up on Sunday feeling terrible. Was promptly sent back to bed and been here ever since. Good news is my nsd now stand at 13 and since I am living on tea and toast I have shed a few pounds. Hoping I will be allowed up tomorrow. Trying to type this on my tablet and no doing too well. Back to normal soon, I hope.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Do you mean you'd join DS on his school trip or are considering a separate trip as a family?

That will be our first trip with the kids (2 and 5). I can ski and snowboard, DH snowboards but I don't mind just taking the kids sledging. Although DD (2) will probably be on skis on day one whereas DS (5) will go sledging ;)

I would rather take everybody on a trip you can organise yourself? That would be much cheaper I think Where is DS going? Germany, Austria, France etc are expensive, the czech republic and Poland etc have good snow too (especially if you don't need expert 60% angle downhill slopes) but are much cheaper (we got our deal on B00king.c0m). When we went last year there were loads of families where one half skied and the other half took care of a baby in a sledge, went on walks etc. Too many variables but I think I ski holiday for 4 for a week (food, flights, ski hire, hotel) can be less than £1000 especially in eastern Europe

Yes exactly, it's a school trip in half term but families go along. It's Switzerland.
Thanks very much for all the info. Something to really think about in any case.

Came across this today. Scroll to the video at the bottom of the page and watch the video. What he says about foodbanks is very interesting and also incredibly disturbing (to me at least).

Dolly I can't believe what I saw in that talk. The fact that food banks throw food away that isn't even out of date is incredible:eek::eek:

Hello, just popping in to say sorry that I haven't really posted this month. There has been so much going on and I'm struggling if I'm honest.

Anyway, I have stopped writing everything down but the spending ban continues. The only unnecessary spend has been a chest of drawers for £60 off fleabay but I'm OK with that as it is a great price and I have been looking out for it for a long time!

I hope to be more active on the next thread,

Someone mentioned bullet journals on the thread last week and I was curious to look up what they were. OMG I am hooked!!!!:D

2nd NSD of the week today. I will tomorrow as I need to pay for postage but as I claim it back on expenses I wont count it as a spend day unless I buy anything else which is unlikely.

No exercise as yet this week as PT couldn't fit us in until our usual Friday session. Will run or HIIT at the weekend too.

I start my 30 day eating plan again tomorrow which will take me up to Christmas eve when we are out for a meal and will then do the next 30 days in the New Year.

WFH today and did a quick whizz around the kitchen. It's amazing what you can achieve with a 30 minute timer on :D

I have about £25 left in the food budget and will have to shop at the weekend so it is going to be tough achieving my target. I have massively reduced it over the last couple of weeks and could get even lower without and hardship if we cut down on snacks and beer.

Not much else going on except still eating from the cupboards and trying to get DD and DS to do xmas/birthday lists!!!

  • Morning everyone,

Nailed another NSD yesterday and today will be too!! Woohoo!

My next expected spend is on Saturday when I have the dentist, so I'll be sure to try and keep the costs down until then.

I do have a charity quiz night tomorrow night, so I assume there will be the standard 'voluntary' donations on the night.

Bob - I know what you mean, how can they get rid of stuff then ask for more. That thing with the cupcakes was absolute insanity and should not be allowed ever.

I'm doing my last grocery shop from my November budget tonight, we don't need loads which is just as well as we have a teeny budget. I've made a start on Decembers budget which starts on Saturday for us.

Do we have someone to run the challenge in December?
