  • Hi turtles,

Doing much better here this week. Only spent on one day so far. (Well, there have been a few business spends but not counting these as they have been paid with cash I had from business sales.) Paid over £100 into the bank today from lots of little sales and sent half straight to the cc and half to the emergency fund.

Re the rubber chicken, it stretched really well for 4 meals. For a roast, I usually have a leg, DD will have a wing and a little breast meat, and DH & DS have slices of breast meat, which leaves half the chicken untouched, plus all the picky bits. We used the left overs for fajitas (for 2), stew and curry and there was plenty of meat in all of them, plus loads of veggies.
  • The Strictly No Spend Day went up in flames today as Children In Need collectors were in force at station when I arrived this morning so donated £1!

Also bought a book for DD Xmas pressie lunchtime at bookshop. Not very MSE as could have got it online cheaper but I like supporting bookshops now and again to keep them going!

Won't haVe NSD now till Sunday as having monthly pedicure tomorrow!

Spent on Thursday as I was out for tea with the girls but a NSD yesterday. Today should be a NSD as I'm working all day. Will get a wee bit of extra cash next Friday from doing a shift for 2nd job after usual shift.

Definitely NOT SFD yesterday. Firstly shelled out £3 for non uniform days for the boys :) Original plans were then to visit cinema (discounted tickets) and a look in the Outlet centre at Xmas things. However, the other day we saw that the Victorian Xmas market was on so we thought we'd do that and maybe cinema. Spent ages wandering around the market so no time for cinema!! Was very cold though - resisted the Ba1leys hot choc (at £4.50!) but did buy 2 bottles of yummy toffee fudge liqueur (1 for a present) and wanted to buy some plum vodka (sooo plummy) but only came in 2 shot size bottle - wanted a bigger one! Bought some beautiful HM candles from a local business for presents and sampled lots of yummy treats, cheeses and alcohols. May nip back there tomorrow for some special cheeses for Xmas - honey and fig cheddar which was so creamy and smooth! :) Had lunch out - £17 - but I do like supporting the market and traders!
Popped into M&S outlet store on way back to car park - found a dressing gown for youngest so bought that, along with a pair of knickers for me and some biscuits for Xmas (1 box for £6, 2 for £7!) - will wrap one box as emergency present :)

Came home to find DS1 and GF on doorstep (he'd forgotten his key) - she had argument with parents and wanted to stay. Needed a few things from A5da so also bought YS donuts and Peps1 for them, with more bacon for today. Cooked easy dinner of chicken nachos (using value tortilla chips and YS chicken breasts, peppers and chillis so bargainacious) and then watched CiN with OH and DS2 :)

    Planning SFD today!!! x

greent - we live between 2 small towns and one had a Victorian Market last weekend and the other has it next weekend. We missed the last one as I'd no idea it was even on.

DS has a football tournament today which is supposed to finish at lunchtime but I've been messed about with these things before when DH rings and says something along the lines of 'Oh, there's 3 more games we won't be home till 4' so I've decided to take DD out for the day. We are going charity shop shopping, we are going on the bus so it will take forever to get there and back but gives us chance to chat.

Didn't bag a nsd yesterday as I had Children in Need to pay out for like most of you. I am hoping to get a nsd today though. We are due for grocery shopping but I think I've convinced dh to pay for it from his 'spare' money as I've covered Christmas pretty much single handedly.
My food spends are back under control for the time being... Writing it all down really does make me feel guilty and I take a long hard look at what I'm doing.

Feeling much brighter although still sleeping a lot. Have done some sewing, walked up and down the yard a few times with recycling and went to the shop last night. Really wanted chocolate all day, could have gone to shop at the top of the street for that but I was down to my last wrap (have crispbread but can't manage those atm) so made the trek (normally 5 minutes) to little Arseda and spent on bread (ys buns for now, wraps for later in the week), water, yoghurt and chocolate.

Have been watching serialisations of Minette Walters novels, working for small amounts at a time. Have washed my hair, picked up rubbsh (still to do their room - they were out yesterday but couldn't walk on most of the floor so I am prepared if they go shopping and get in there with the bin bag), have set off the first of three loads of washing, put away clean pots, hung more things out to dry (fingers crossed) and lots more sewing.

Yesterday I was grateful for Thursday's fireworks display, water (live on it, drink loads) and simple food - still using up things in stock. hunted out a mackerel fillet that has been lurking in the freezer for months, hiding behind or underneath other items. Added it to my rice salad and made two wraps.

    Afternoon All :)

Today was going to be a NSD, but i had to go and get some milk for my friends that are visiting today. We dont drink milk, so didnt have any in the house. But i think i might buy a little carton of the UHT stuff in next weeks food shopping, for occasions like this.

I will be getting some free food on Thursday, due to winning a competition on Instagram, with a soup company. I think it's only soup, but not sure yet.

Other than the milk, i wont be spending anything.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

Logging NSD 12. I am extremely pleased with my grocery spends this month as we get paid Friday so can see we have spent very low this month. Partly through necessity but this challenge has definitely focused me more than usual.

I did finally receive payment from the late payer, plus I picked up a very late booking yesterday which has added £100 unexpectedly to my budget. I have already paid another £41 off out of that to chip into the next £100 zone.

I had my first eBay bid in around a month today, one of DHs comics, £15 minimum guaranteed now, someone else might bid but even if not that's another bit to put towards the debt. I REALLY want to end December on £700, or bust :)

DH has proven very useful again and come up with 4 handles we'd bought for £6.99 each when we were doing up our house, but they were too small for the job at hand. But we can reuse them in the business premises which saves me ££.

Used Costalott points today to get my OH a free hot drink as I had a free hot one from a supplier I had to meet with today. So £5 added to the wombling score.

Chicken wings, rice and roasted veg for tonight's tea. I did an hours cycling this morning for work and have another hour to do tonight so I will be very much looking forward to my dinner!

    Bye all

    Bob

Bob, pleased that you finally got your money. It can be a nightmare getting clients to pay sometimes.
