Day 5 of no smoking. DH going out to play footie in a wee while and kids to bed soon. I will not smoke.

Sorry just had to do that to make me even more accountable.
finally tea total but in still in (more) debt (Oct 25 CC £1800, loan £6453, mortgage £59,924/158,000)
  • thrifty - hope the Nonsmoking is going well tonight! Your financial plan looks good too - pleased to see hubby is more on board.

Mothernerd - sorry to hear you are feeling poorly again.

Im afraid I ended up my spending day yesterday with a cod and chips supper from the chip shop. My excuse was working late, tired and trudging home from the station in the rain! I did enjoy it so though! :o

Today I climbed back on the wagon for a NSD and 5:2 diet!

Thanks Thrifty. In that case I will claim NSDs for yesterday and today. Went to my counselling appointment bus hop but needed a taxi back. Quick drop in to crafts to give advice on finishing something started last week and provide some things to help with another. Also threaded 3 needles with red thread.

Have given apologes for tomorrow so not planning to be anywhere for a couple of days (unless return visit to doctor's is needed). Made wraps using the things from the fridge and brought them and a fresh bottle of water upstairs. Was thinking about going out to buy a couple of things but the effort of getting off the bed made it not worth while. Not even brought the bin in.

Have just finished off the ice cream to prevent waking in the middle of the night hungry and have free entertainment tomorrrow. It's the official lights switch on, car park will be fenced off all day as they set up the fire works with excellent bedside view of the display later and fair ground rides will be setting up soon plus 'musical' entertainment.

Today I am grateful to be warm and comfy in bed, to not need to go anywhere in the next few days (phone mum, bring bin in) and to have made food earlier in the week that is comforting and easy to swallow.

Sorry for my absence, work is crazy! Two SFDs and one spend day so far this week. Only spent to buy a bottle of alcohol for someone who came to fix my radiator and wouldn't accept payment! House renovations started on Monday :) all seems ok so far, so fingers crossed it'll be done in three weeks time :)

Well yesterday I did a foodshop, planned but I also gave a lot. I felt good about spending money on my son. He has a zero hours contract and money is a serious issue for them. I paid for his weekly shop, something I have been doing for about three months now. But while talking it was obvious he needed boots for work so I got him to buy a pair on line, as we don't have shoe shop anywhere near us. I also bought the baby a couple of Christmas presents for him to give to his son. When I helped carry the shopping in I noticed their duvet had no cover and I asked why? They don't have a spare anymore, so I asked what else they were short of, they only have two towels! So I came home and raided my shelves and took them back four or so towels and three duvet covers. But I also ordered them a couple of new duvets from Argos, to be delivered to them today.
So I blue the NSD right out of the water.
But the happiness it gave me, and the relief I see in my Son was worth it.
I will still be mindful of the spending this month but I would willingly pay for what ever I can if it helps someone else.
I have been reading a book I got off the Internet called Life's Golden Ticket by Brendon Burchard. I felt empowered after the first read and was surprised to end up with a second copy in the post yesterday. My new neighbour was walking her dog yesterday and was in tears, sobi got out of the car to offer her help and a hug. She suffers from Bi-Polar, and is having a rough time, so last night I gave her the book.
She text me later to tell me she was reading the book and that it's a good one and was already helping her.
I feel blessed that yesterday I was able to help them all.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

You're a star. Quite astonishing what a detrimental effect those 0 hour contracts have. I think they should be abolished.

  • Mooloo - What a lovely thing to read this morning so thank you for sharing and well done you for going above and beyond. If only there were more of you in the world.

In other news, yesterday was not a NSD as I spent £3 for football as predicted. Damn.

Today will be though which I am glad for as I can foresee a few spendy days coming up

Mooloo - what a lovely post, thanks for sharing, it was very heartwarming.

Thrifty - I hope you can get your DH on track, sounds like he might be moving in the right direction.

Me and DD get up for school at 6.45 am and DS a bit later, this morning DD came rushing in to my room at 7.15 am, I'd turned the alarm off and gone back to sleep. That's what you get for staying up later than normal and watching 2 episodes of The Missing - so addictive though.

Have been cycling in the wind this morning - always extra hard and a bit scary sometimes too. Will walk the pooch later, clean up a bit but will do a big clean tomorrow, visit mum and make tea.

    Lovely post Mooloo.

I have already claimed a NSD for today.

I had to ask DS3 to go downstairs for a large pot of yoghurt and a spoon and have renewed 2 library books on-line as even without having a bathh or getting dressed properly, the prospect of dragging myself across the car park seems impossible. Slept lots, read a little, watched the men on the car park getting wet - not looking like fireworks yet, van is here but they are staying inside it.

Today I am grateful that I no longer deliver the free paper (would have been out all day in the rain, that I have things that are easy to eat and my nose has stopped running (I cheated and took my anti-histamines).
