Morning intrepid budgeteers,
Today I'd planned to go into town for a nice mosy about, coffee & cakeypoo......then last night it dawned on me that today is actually my Big Budget Day. Potentially spendy little trip cancelled. Will be at my desk with my money book & trusty calculator instead. Bring on more coffee!

Oh Smurf, it's monthly planning day! I'd better get on with it. Thanks for the reminder.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Afternoon all,
Checking back to say I wasnt lured into town by the thought of that cake, I have been hard at my Big Budget Day ALL DAY. So a good money saving day:
*Reconciled September's budgets.....small overspend on groceries, but everything else was on target, which I was pleased with as we did have a few nights away.
*Set October's budget. (I always do this myself, but then talk it through with mr f so he is aware of how we are doing & more importantly, where the pressures are in the month ahead, so, for example......I'll be telling him that if we stick to our budgets in October, there's much more likelihood of us maybe having a little bit of extra spending money in Nov for our holiday. He's very good these days, but he does respond to motivation....as do we all).
*Paid CC in full.
*Skimmed bank account for an immediate payment of £18.67 into the Loan Pay-Down Fund. Updated signature, as it does help to see the figure changing.
*Assessed how much to pay into our savings piggies this month......didn't pay Presents Pig as it has a little bit in there & we have lots of John Lewis vouchers - about £100 - (earned from surveys)which we are going to prioritise for buying Christmas presents this year. Halved payment to Holiday Pig as we have decided we'll just do a couple of camping trips next year to maximise getting the loan paid off more quickly.
*Made up October's grocery shopping sheet for the front of my diary. All food spends get recorded on that so I don't get 'spending amnesia'.
*Read energy meters & uploaded readings.
*Squigged my unspent £5 away into my secret tin.
*Paid another 50p into my sealed pot.
*Had a major filing session as all the stuff to do with new car & new mortgage seems to be in place now.
*Phoned breakdown cover provider about a silliy little problem which was originally down to an error on my part & would have been easy peasy lemon squeezy to sort out IF they had bothered replying to my email. Hopefully phone call has done the trick.
*Listed 2 ebay items & re-listed another 2. One little item sold. All items small & inexpensive....more to do with decluttering, really, but every little helps, as we all know.
*Did a couple of surveys. Hardly any today, but I did get an email to say I've been selected for another focus group. I did very well for vouchers from the last one I was on.
*Did overnight laundry on cheap tariff & almost got it line-dry. Have popped the heated airer on to finish it off. It only needs a couple of hours, which works out cheaper at full daytime rate than it would running it overnight, all night on cheap rate.
*Rubber pork strikes again......more of Sunday's leftovers cut into little strips ready to go into Madhur Jaffrey's leftover meat curry recipe. Had a pepper ready in the greenhouse, everything else from storecupboard. Serving with garlic flatbreads I made a while back & froze. What a cheapskate. Yay!!
*Make a list of everything I could usefully do in town tomorrow, so that I feel I've got the most out of the parking fee.
OK, that's me ready to sign off & go & do something that isn't money related. I did have a break to watch 'Cold Feet' over lunch, when I turned the heel on B-in-law's sock, so I shall put my feet up later & carry on with that. Several more gifts to knit, so need to keep up my productivity.
Love to all,

Evening everyone
Another busy day, and I'm still tired, but today seems to have been one of the better ones so far. Survived without losing my temper which is always good, although there are still 4 hours until bed time.
Thanks all for the good wishes about the PPI - I do have plans for some of it. One will be an emergency fund for the cat(s), one to buy dd a new bed which she desperately needs and I'm going to upgrade my holiday for my big birthday to include meals so that I don't have to stress about paying for food while we're there.
Speky - fantastic news on your payment. I'm thrilled for you.
Keen to know how the quinoa/nutribix pudding has gone as well Legomum
So today I have checked banking and PAD to Christmas fund, done a full day of teaching, marked a set of books, volunteered for something at work  and been asked to be a mental health champion :rotfl: I also popped into town after work to pay my cheque in and post a letter to finally sort the mortgage out. Hopefully that will sort everything out and I can happily knock 6 (yes 6) years off the mortgage.
Got home at 6, made dinner and am now planning to relax for the rest of the night. Bit of knitting and telly...Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Evening all
Great news re the PPI CCL
((Hugs)) Bob, you sound down at the moment
Shattered today as I didn't sleep at all well (again). I really envy people like OH who fall asleep as soon as their head hits the pillow, and aren't up and down all night turning things over in their (my) mind!
Anyway, today I have / will:
Walked dog, woke me up a bit first thing!
Wrapped 3 ebay sales and took them to the post office. Walked to post office for (more) exercise). Had to refund a lady whose item had arrived brokenIt was only £5 plus postage, but still.....
Did a bit of work in the front garden, took out some spent plants and topped up the compost in the pots. Was about to plant some bulbs, and then remembered I will have GD tomorrow, and she would love to help with that
Also watered the pots in the front garden, most of them still look pretty
Made Mrs F's courgette curry, yummy, and virtually free as the main ingredients came from the teetering pile of courgettes and bowls of tomatoes
Also made a crumble from fallen apples I picked up last night, plus yesterday's pickings from the raspberry canes
Forgot to ring to make an appointment for my flu injection
Still need to water French beans (though down to one pot of these now) and the quince tree
Also make some of Mrs F's olbas oil teabags to keep the cats off the pots I have cleared in the front garden  Small dog isn't allowed out there as we are on quite a busy road and I am not convinced he couldn't squeeze through the gate, but he does keep the back garden cat free. Not sure what would happen if he did actually meet a cat face to face, as fully grown ones are mostly bigger than him  but the yapping and rushing about is enough to put them off coming into the garden :rotfl:0 -
Morning all, appear to have been evicted from my own bed by two small people who arrived at different times in the night and promptly fell straight back to sleep taking up an inordinate amount of room in comparison to their body size :rotfl: will sneak back shortly and try and get an hour before the alarm goes off!
List for today:
Left over spag Bol from last night for lunch
Last of 'giant' grapes for snack (oh picked up seeded by mistake;))
Tea from stores
Cut up joint of pork and freeze
Check banking, surveys and FPL. Cash out £6 p1nec0ne if the second one gets confirmed today
Water tomato, one on the turn to red. Counted 17 on there still and about another 12 flowers :T
Washing just finished on cheap, will peg out in a bit
DH has Physio tonight, paid for through works healthcare
One thing from annoying list0 -

PF I've been awake since 5! I just ping awake in the morning and as soon as I'm conscious there's no going back for me! But quite enjoy the peace
Nothing very exciting for me today! Decided to keep it simple today with only a few things to do.
* [STRIKE]Have checked banks & cc statement [/STRIKE]- so good that with my not buying it challenge there are hardly any transactions!
* [STRIKE]read MSE email [/STRIKE]
* get oh to do the photos, from last week's newsletter. Don't want to miss the offer!
* speak to oh re changing bb supplier - amazing deal with sky but not sure I have the stomach to bring the murdock corp into our house....
* make aubergine bake today. Didn't do this yesterday as I just ate the french bread I made!
* list some things on fleabay
* all meals from stores - [STRIKE]continue with freezer use up. Transfer some things to the outside freezer...[/STRIKE] opps treated me and madam to a slice of lemon and blueberry cake at a country garden we went to after getting my car repaired
* [STRIKE]taking my car over to a mechanic a couple of villages away - have had a palarva with getting it repaired - depending on how long it will take I will either take madam to the local park or catch a bus and go swimming[/STRIKE] £40!!!! :j doen while we waited so we went to a country manor garden afterwards. It was beautiful but madam is lazy and just moaned all of the way round!
* [STRIKE]think I'm going to go and get my clothes on in a minute and go to the allotment and do an hour's diggingmight even pick some more runner beans if they are ready [/STRIKE] picked 350grms
* [STRIKE]chopped & froze peppers[/STRIKE]
